When celebrations become endless
Darkness is strictly forbidden,
And many children become senseless—
Yet I am a lone figure,
For I do not remember to rejoice.
My mind races across the world
To a country losing its voice
A place I used to call home,
Now shouts with a patriotic call
With flags hoisted above our eyes
As a reminder of our enemies’ fall
There the children dance and sing
With victory ringing through their ears
As bursts of colors and hope invade the streets,
We forget to wipe our tears
With my head wrapped in silky green,
I remember the land where I learned to crawl
And the blood from the lost soldiers
Has deeply stained my woolen shawl.
