১৯১০ সালের ২৬ আগস্ট উসমানীয় সাম্রাজ্যের ইউস্কুব জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তবে ২৬ আগস্ট জন্ম হলেও তিনি ২৭ আগস্ট তারিখটিকে তার "প্রকৃত জন্মদিন" মনে করতেন I তিনি ছিলেন নিকোলো ও দ্রানা বয়াজুর কনিষ্ঠ সন্তান। তাদের আদি নিবাস ছিল আলবেনিয়ার অঞ্চলে। তার পিতা আলবেনিয়ার রাজনীতির সঙ্গে জড়িত ছিলেন। ১৯১৯ সালে মাত্র আট বছর বয়সে তার পিতৃবিয়োগ হয়। পিতার মৃত্যুর পর তার মা তাকে রোমান ক্যাথলিক আদর্শে লালন-পালন করেন। ছোট্টো অ্যাগনেস ধর্মপ্রচারকদের জীবন ও কাজকর্মের গল্প শুনতে বড়োই ভালবাসতেন। ১২ বছর বয়সেই তিনি ধর্মীয় সন্ন্যাস জীবন যাপনের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে ফেলেন। ১৮ বছর বয়সে তিনি গৃহত্যাগ করে একজন ধর্মপ্রচারক হিসেবে যোগ দেন সিস্টার্স অফ লোরেটো সংস্থায়। মা আর দিদিদের সঙ্গে আর তার কোনোদিন দেখা হয়নি।
১৯৪৮ সালে এই মোতাবেক দরিদ্রের মাঝে ধর্মপ্রচার কাজ শুরু করেন। প্রথাগত লোরেটো অভ্যাস ত্যাগ করেন। পোশাক হিসেবে পরিধান করেন নীল পারের একটি সাধারণ সাদা সুতির বস্ত্র। এ সময়ই ভারতীয় নাগরিকত্ব গ্রহণ করে বস্তি এলাকায় কাজ শুরু করেন। প্রথমে মতিঝিলে একটি ছোট স্কুল স্থাপনের মাধ্যমে শুরু করেছিলেন। পরবর্তীতে ক্ষুধার্ত ও নিঃস্বদের ডাকে সাড়া দিতে শুরু করেন। তাদের বিভিন্নভাবে সাহায্য করতে থাকেন। তার এই কার্যক্রম অচিরেই ভারতীয় কর্মকর্তাদের নজরে আসে। স্বয়ং তৎকালিন প্রধানমন্ত্রীও তার কাজের স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছিলেন।
প্রথম দিকের এই দিনগুলো তার জন্য বেশ কষ্টকর ছিল। সে সময় তার হাতে কোন অর্থ ছিল না। গরিব এবং অনাহারীদের খাবার ও আবাসনের অর্থ জোগাড়ের জন্য তাকে দ্বারে দ্বারে ঘুরতে হতো। ধনী ব্যক্তিদের কাছ থেকে অর্থ সংগ্রহ করতে হতো। এসব কাজ করতে গিয়ে অনেক সময়ই হতাশা, সন্দেহ ও একাকিত্ব বোধ করেছেন। ১৯৯৬ সালের এপ্রিলে পড়ে গিয়ে কলার বোন ভেঙে ফেলেন। আগস্টে ম্যালেরিয়ায় আক্রান্ত হন। ১৯৯৭ সালের ১৩ই মার্চ মিশনারিস অফ চ্যারিটির প্রধানের পদ থেকে সরে দাড়ান। ৫ই সেপ্টেম্বর মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।

পথে প্রান্তরে , নদ নদী ও সাগরে ঘুরে বেড়াই , চোখে যা পড়ে , তাই আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরি । সব সময় আমি আমার দেশের মানুষের জীবন যাপন তুলে ধরতে পছন্দ করি । আমার দেশের মানুষ আমার কাছে অনেক মূল্যবান । নিঝুম দ্বীপ বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্টি , আমাদের দেশের মূলধারা জনগোষ্টি থেকে অনেক পিছিয়ে রাস্ট্রীয় সুযোগ সুবিধা থেকে , নিঝুম দ্বীপের জনসাধারণের জীবন জীবিকা জন্য কাজ একটাই নদী আর সাগরে মাছ ধরা । এখানে ভালো ফসল হয় না কারন প্রাকৃতিক জলোচ্ছ্বাস এর কারনে পুরো দ্বীপের মাটি নোনা হয়ে গেছে তাই ভালো ফসল হয় না ।তাই নিঝুম দ্বীপের মানুষ মাছ ধরার জাল , নৌকা এই নিয়ে কাজে ব্যস্ত থাকে । চলতে পথে একজনকে পেলাম যে , ছেড়া জাল নতুন বুনন করে দেয় , তার জীবন জীবিকা এটাই । তার সংগে কথা বলে অনেক কিছু জানতে পেরেছি এবং সে একজন মজার মানুষ বটে । তার সহজ সরল কথা আমাকে যেমন আবেগী করে তুলেছে , ঠিক সেই ভাবে আপনাদের আন্দোলিত করবে আশা করি । আমাদের প্রান্তিক মানুষ গুলি খুবই প্রানবন্ত । আজকের এপিসোড ,এই অসাধারন মানুষকে উৎসর্গ করলাম I
নিঝুম দ্বীপ বাংলাদেশের একটি ছোট্ট দ্বীপ। এটি নোয়াখালী জেলার হাতিয়া উপজেলার অন্তর্গত। বাংলাদেশের বনবিভাগ ৭০-এর দশকে বন বিভাগের কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। প্রথমে পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে চার জোড়া হরিণ ছাড়ে। নিঝুম দ্বীপ এখন হরিণের অভয়ারণ্য। ১৯৯৬ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের হরিণশুমারি অনুযায়ী হরিণের সংখ্যা ২২,০০০। নোনা পানিতে বেষ্টিত নিঝুম দ্বীপ কেওড়া গাছের অভয়ারণ্য। ম্যানগ্রোভ বনের মধ্যে সুন্দরবনের পরে নিঝুম দ্বীপকে বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম ম্যানগ্রোভ বন বলে অনেকে দাবি করেন।

The people living in Nijhum Island are far behind the mainstream population of our country in terms of national facilities, the livelihood of the people of Nijhum Island is fishing in the river and the sea. There is no good harvest here because the soil of the whole island has become salty due to natural tides, so there is no good harvest. So the people of Nijhum Island are busy with fishing nets and boats. On the way, I met a person who weaves torn webs, this is his livelihood. I learned a lot from talking to him and he is a funny person.

Nijhum Island is a small island of Bangladesh . It belongs to Hatia upazila of Noakhali district . On April 8, 2001, the Bangladesh government declared the entire island as a national park. In 2013, the island was separated from the Jahazmara Union and got the status of an independent union. The former name of Nijhum Island was Char-Osman , Char of Baulla , and some also called it Char of Ichamati . It was also called Ichamati Char as a lot of Icha fish (local name for shrimp) was available in this char. A Bathania named Osman first settled on Nijhum Island with his herd of buffaloes. Then it was named after this name. Basically Ballarchar, Char Osman, Kamlar Char and Moulvir Char - these four chars together form Nijhum Island. The island of about 14,050 acres was raised around 1940 AD. Around 1950 AD, the settlement was established. In the terrible cyclone of 1970, no life existed on the island. The soil of this island is sandy, so the fishermen named it Balur Char. The island was sometimes called by the local people as Ballarar Dale or Ballarachar due to the presence of sand dunes. Although it is now called Nizhumdwip, the local people still refer to this island as Bailar Dale or Ballarachar. The Forest Department of Bangladesh started its activities in the 70s. First four pairs of deer are released experimentally. Nijhum Island is now a deer sanctuary. According to the 1996 AD deer census, the number of deer is 22,000. Nijhum island surrounded by salt water is a keora tree sanctuary. Nijhum Island is claimed by many to be the second largest mangrove forest in Bangladesh after the Sundarbans .

পথে প্রান্তরে , নদ নদী ও সাগরে ঘুরে বেড়াই , চোখে যা পড়ে , তাই আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরি । সব সময় আমি আমার দেশের মানুষের জীবন যাপন তুলে ধরতে পছন্দ করি । আমার দেশের মানুষ আমার কাছে অনেক মূল্যবান । নিঝুম দ্বীপ বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্টি , আমাদের দেশের মূলধারা জনগোষ্টি থেকে অনেক পিছিয়ে I নিঝুম দ্বীপ বাংলাদেশের একটি ছোট্ট দ্বীপ। এটি নোয়াখালী জেলার হাতিয়া উপজেলার অন্তর্গত। ২০০১ সালের ৮ এপ্রিল বাংলাদেশ সরকার পুরো দ্বীপটিকে জাতীয় উদ্যান হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে। ২০১৩ সালে দ্বীপটি জাহাজমারা ইউনিয়ন হতে পৃথক হয়ে স্বতন্ত্র ইউনিয়নের মর্যাদা লাভ করে। নিঝুম দ্বীপের পূর্ব নাম ছিলো চর-ওসমান,বাউল্লার চর, আবার কেউ কেউ একে ইছামতীর চরও বলত। এ চরে প্রচুর ইছা মাছ (চিংড়ীর স্থানীয় নাম) পাওয়া যেত বলে একে ইছামতির চরও বলা হত। ওসমান নামের একজন বাথানিয়া তার মহিষের বাথান নিয়ে প্রথম নিঝুম দ্বীপে বসত গড়েন। তখন এই নামেই এর নামকরণ হয়েছিলো। পরে এই নাম বদলে নিঝুম দ্বীপ নামকরণ করেন।মূলত বাল্লারচর, চর ওসমান, কামলার চর এবং মৌলভির চর - এই চারটি চর মিলিয়ে নিঝুম দ্বীপ। প্রায় ১৪,০৫০ একরের দ্বীপটি ১৯৪০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের দিকে জেগে ওঠে। ১৯৫০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের দিকে জন বসতি গড়ে উঠে। ১৯৭০ এর ভয়াবহ ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে দ্বীপটিতে কোন প্রাণের অস্তিত্ব ছিলনা। এ দ্বীপের মাটি চিকচিকে বালুকাময়, তাই জেলেরা নিজ থেকে নামকরণ করে বালুর চর। এই দ্বীপটিতে মাঝে মাঝে বালুর ঢিবি বা টিলার মতো ছিল বিধায় স্থানীয় লোকজন এই দ্বীপকে বাইল্যার ডেইল বা বাল্লারচর বলেও ডাকত। বর্তমানে নিঝুমদ্বীপ নাম হলেও স্থানীয় লোকেরা এখনো এই দ্বীপকে বাইল্যার ডেইল বা বাল্লারচর বলেই সম্বোধন করে। বাংলাদেশের বনবিভাগ ৭০-এর দশকে বন বিভাগের কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। প্রথমে পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে চার জোড়া হরিণ ছাড়ে। নিঝুম দ্বীপ এখন হরিণের অভয়ারণ্য। ১৯৯৬ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের হরিণশুমারি অনুযায়ী হরিণের সংখ্যা ২২,০০০। নোনা পানিতে বেষ্টিত নিঝুম দ্বীপ কেওড়া গাছের অভয়ারণ্য। ম্যানগ্রোভ বনের মধ্যে সুন্দরবনের পরে নিঝুম দ্বীপকে বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম ম্যানগ্রোভ বন বলে অনেকে দাবি করেন।

পথে প্রান্তরে , নদ নদী ও সাগরে ঘুরে বেড়াই , চোখে যা পড়ে , তাই আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরি । সব সময় আমি আমার দেশের মানুষের জীবন যাপন তুলে ধরতে পছন্দ করি । আমার দেশের মানুষ আমার কাছে অনেক মূল্যবান । নিঝুম দ্বীপ বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্টি , আমাদের দেশের মূলধারা জনগোষ্টি থেকে অনেক পিছিয়ে , রাস্ট্রীয় সুযোগ সুবিধা থেকে , এখন পর্যন্ত বিদ্যুৎ সুবিধার ভিতরে যায় নাই । স্থানীয় এক তরুন নিজ উদ্যোগ পুরো নিঝুম দ্বীপের "নামার বাজার" কে বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন করে , বিতরন করছে এবং নিজের ভাগ্য উন্নয়ন করছে । আজকের এপিসোড এই রকম একজন তরুন কে নিয়ে । তাকে আমারা স্যালুট জানাই আমাদের চ্যানেল লাইফ লিভিং থেকে ।
নিঝুম দ্বীপ বাংলাদেশের একটি ছোট্ট দ্বীপ। এটি নোয়াখালী জেলার হাতিয়া উপজেলার অন্তর্গত। ২০০১ সালের ৮ এপ্রিল বাংলাদেশ সরকার পুরো দ্বীপটিকে জাতীয় উদ্যান হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে। ২০১৩ সালে দ্বীপটি জাহাজমারা ইউনিয়ন হতে পৃথক হয়ে স্বতন্ত্র ইউনিয়নের মর্যাদা লাভ করে। নিঝুম দ্বীপের পূর্ব নাম ছিলো চর-ওসমান,বাউল্লার চর, আবার কেউ কেউ একে ইছামতীর চরও বলত। এ চরে প্রচুর ইছা মাছ (চিংড়ীর স্থানীয় নাম) পাওয়া যেত বলে একে ইছামতির চরও বলা হত। ওসমান নামের একজন বাথানিয়া তার মহিষের বাথান নিয়ে প্রথম নিঝুম দ্বীপে বসত গড়েন। তখন এই নামেই এর নামকরণ হয়েছিলো। পরে এই নাম বদলে নিঝুম দ্বীপ নামকরণ করেন।মূলত বাল্লারচর, চর ওসমান, কামলার চর এবং মৌলভির চর - এই চারটি চর মিলিয়ে নিঝুম দ্বীপ। প্রায় ১৪,০৫০ একরের দ্বীপটি ১৯৪০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের দিকে জেগে ওঠে। ১৯৫০ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের দিকে জন বসতি গড়ে উঠে। ১৯৭০ এর ভয়াবহ ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে দ্বীপটিতে কোন প্রাণের অস্তিত্ব ছিলনা। এ দ্বীপের মাটি চিকচিকে বালুকাময়, তাই জেলেরা নিজ থেকে নামকরণ করে বালুর চর। এই দ্বীপটিতে মাঝে মাঝে বালুর ঢিবি বা টিলার মতো ছিল বিধায় স্থানীয় লোকজন এই দ্বীপকে বাইল্যার ডেইল বা বাল্লারচর বলেও ডাকত। বর্তমানে নিঝুমদ্বীপ নাম হলেও স্থানীয় লোকেরা এখনো এই দ্বীপকে বাইল্যার ডেইল বা বাল্লারচর বলেই সম্বোধন করে। বাংলাদেশের বনবিভাগ ৭০-এর দশকে বন বিভাগের কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। প্রথমে পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে চার জোড়া হরিণ ছাড়ে। নিঝুম দ্বীপ এখন হরিণের অভয়ারণ্য। ১৯৯৬ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের হরিণশুমারি অনুযায়ী হরিণের সংখ্যা ২২,০০০। নোনা পানিতে বেষ্টিত নিঝুম দ্বীপ কেওড়া গাছের অভয়ারণ্য। ম্যানগ্রোভ বনের মধ্যে সুন্দরবনের পরে নিঝুম দ্বীপকে বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম ম্যানগ্রোভ বন বলে অনেকে দাবি করেন।

Nijhum Island is a small island of Bangladesh . It belongs to Hatia upazila of Noakhali district . On April 8, 2001, the Bangladesh government declared the entire island as a national park. In 2013, the island was separated from the Jahazmara Union and got the status of an independent union. The former name of Nijhum Island was Char-Osman , Char of Baulla , and some also called it Char of Ichamati . It was also called Ichamati Char as a lot of Icha fish (local name for shrimp) was available in this char. A Bathania named Osman first settled on Nijhum Island with his herd of buffaloes. Then it was named after this name. Basically Ballarchar, Char Osman, Kamlar Char and Moulvir Char - these four chars together form Nijhum Island. The island of about 14,050 acres was raised around 1940 AD. Around 1950 AD, the settlement was established. In the terrible cyclone of 1970, no life existed on the island. The soil of this island is sandy, so the fishermen named it Balur Char. The island was sometimes called by the local people as Ballarar Dale or Ballarachar due to the presence of sand dunes. Although it is now called Nizhumdwip, the local people still refer to this island as Bailar Dale or Ballarachar. The Forest Department of Bangladesh started its activities in the 70s. First four pairs of deer are released experimentally. Nijhum Island is now a deer sanctuary. According to the 1996 AD deer census, the number of deer is 22,000. Nijhum island surrounded by salt water is a keora tree sanctuary. Nijhum Island is claimed by many to be the second largest mangrove forest in Bangladesh after the Sundarbans .

পথে প্রান্তরে , নদ নদী ও সাগরে ঘুরে বেড়াই , চোখে যা পড়ে , তাই আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরি । সব সময় আমি আমার দেশের মানুষের জীবন যাপন তুলে ধরতে পছন্দ করি । আমার দেশের মানুষ আমার কাছে অনেক মূল্যবান । নিঝুম দ্বীপ বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্টি , আমাদের দেশের মূলধারা জনগোষ্টি থেকে অনেক পিছিয়ে , রাস্ট্রীয় সুযোগ সুবিধা থেকে , এখন পর্যন্ত বিদ্যুৎ সুবিধার ভিতরে যায় নাই । স্থানীয় এক তরুন নিজ উদ্যোগ পুরো নিঝুম দ্বীপের "নামার বাজার" কে বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন করে , বিতরন করছে এবং নিজের ভাগ্য উন্নয়ন করছে । আজকের এপিসোড এই রকম একজন তরুন কে নিয়ে । তাকে আমারা স্যালুট জানাই আমাদের চ্যানেল লাইফ লিভিং থেকে ।
