Friends, lovers, frenemies, exes, or all of the above? 💅🏼 TIDAL has something for everyone, though that something is not always a someone…

A romantic comedy may guarantee a happy ending, but you can still expect chaos and infuriating slow burns along the way. Part of the fun of this genre is the wildly different dynamics at play between core characters and never knowing who ends up with who until the final act. Some besties will always be mistaken as partners, while others swear ‘til the end that they’re just friends… unless? Not to mention, the “what are we?” conversation becomes an even more loaded situation to unpack when q***rness is involved. Good luck, babes!

We are seeking people to join as background performers to help bring this world to life in a way which authentically reflects the local community. Anyone 18+ interested is encouraged to apply and will be contacted in the weeks ahead with more details. Note that you will not be required to be on set all day and we welcome any capacity you can manage.

As a film extra, no occasion is ever the same and you will have a special front row seat to this local film production. Some days will look like dancing in bars to no music, other days will be the perfect opportunity to hide in the corner of a restaurant to catch up on homework, overdue emails, or reading.

Led by a cast and crew of talented local artists, we endeavour to facilitate a fun experience regardless of if you’re new the filmmaking process or already know the ropes. Whether you are an aspiring actor, want the satisfaction of seeing yourself on screen, enjoy watching films, know someone in the cast/crew, or just appreciate free food — we hope to see you on set soon!

First table read for Tidal 🏄‍♀️ 〰️ a milestone which means the start of production is coming up soon!

Not everyone is accounted for here, but this was still the most cast members we have ever had in one place so far + our first time hearing most of the script aloud in voices other than our own, which was a surreal process.

The first threads of this story originated in 2019, as an act of escapism from the extreme cold of a northern hemisphere winter. We immersed ourselves building the details of a fictional surfer’s life and her unlikely circle of companions, set along the west coast during summer.

Fast forward to 2023, with our perspectives endowed with a handful of more heartbreaks, mid-20s angst, and several initiations into adulthood through life-changing milestones… the story grew with us, and these characters became cathartic channels to process these experiences.

Now, in 2024 these characters not only have names and personality traits, but faces, voices, and heartbeats. The universe we began building with has a title, and TIDAL is our combined effort to share this world of loves and losses with you. Thank you for helping us bring this story to life, from ink to action.

💙 Community Quiz Night 💙

THANK YOU to everyone who came down to our first in-person fundraiser event last Sunday! This evening was such a joyful experience and we are so grateful to have seen so many unfamiliar faces present. In two hours you helped raise over $3000 towards TIDAL.
