Protectionism or Free Trade AfCFTA:
“The debate over free trade versus protection has existed since the
eighteenth century, according to F. Root. Despite the fact that the
controversy itself is obvious, the arguments are intricate and
multifaceted”. (Franklin R. Root, 2000).

Franklin makes a compelling case for free trade by outlining its
advantages. The comparative advantage principle shows that free trade results in a higher level of development and growth for the entire world. Each nation is also able to increase its production and consumption beyond what it could do on its own through free trade. He continued, under perfect competition, free trade results in a global resource allocation that satisfies the criteria of optimality. (Franklin R. Root, 2000).

Story: former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike has successfully demonstrated to Waziri Atiku Abubakar that he is the most important political actor and game changer in the country. This is the first time in Nigerian politics that a non-card carrying member of a major political party has been appointed minister without defecting to the ruling party. Wike shown throughout the past election campaign that he is a powerful politician to be reckoned with, regardless of who you are. Again, his feud with his predecessor, Gov. Fubara, for which the governor has subsequently apologized, demonstrates how influential he is in River State politics.

Title: Celebrating Africa Day: Embracing Diversity and Honoring Unity

Introduction:
Africa Day, also known as Africa Liberation Day, is an annual celebration that commemorates the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25th, 1963 and know African Union. This significant day serves as a reminder of Africa's rich history, diverse cultures, and ongoing journey towards development, unity, and self-determination. Africa Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the continent's progress, honor its accomplishments, and acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. It is a day to celebrate the beauty, resilience, and potential of Africa and its people.

Embracing Cultural Diversity:
Africa is home to an incredibly diverse tapestry of cultures, languages, traditions, and ethnicities. On Africa Day, this diversity is celebrated and recognized as a source of strength and beauty. From the rhythmic beats of West African drums to the vibrant attire of East Africa, the continent showcases its cultural heritage through music, dance, art, fashion, and cuisine. This celebration of diversity fosters understanding, appreciation, and mutual respect among African nations and the global community.

Honoring African History and Achievements:
Africa has a rich and storied history, with countless ancient civilizations, kingdoms, and empires that have contributed to the world's collective heritage. Africa Day serves as an opportunity to reflect on these historical achievements and the remarkable individuals who shaped the continent's destiny. From the kingdoms of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai to the monumental achievements of ancient Egypt, Africa's history is a testament to the intellectual, artistic, and technological advancements of its people.

Promoting Unity and Pan-Africanism:
Africa Day is also a time to reaffirm the ideals of unity, solidarity, and Pan-Africanism. It reminds us of the importance of working together to address the common challenges faced by African nations, such as poverty, inequality, conflict, and underdevelopment. The celebration provides a platform for African leaders, organizations, and citizens to reflect on the progress made in achieving these goals and to renew their commitment to fostering regional integration, peace, and sustainable development.

Looking Towards the Future:
While Africa has made significant strides in various fields, including governance, economic growth, and technology, numerous challenges persist. Africa Day serves as a call to action to address these issues collectively. It prompts us to engage in conversations on sustainable development, inclusive growth, gender equality, education, healthcare, and environmental preservation. By focusing on these areas, Africa can unlock its full potential and build a brighter future for its people.

Conclusion:
Africa Day is a celebration of Africa's history, cultures, achievements, and aspirations. It highlights the continent's resilience, diversity, and determination to overcome challenges. This important day reminds us of the need to honor and preserve Africa's cultural heritage, promote unity and Pan-Africanism, and work towards sustainable development. As we celebrate Africa Day, let us embrace the spirit of collaboration, recognizing that by standing together, we can create a prosperous and harmonious future for Africa and its people.
