Have you seen the monkeys at Silver Springs State Park? 🐒We’ve missed them the last two times we went, but thankfully our friend that_floridaboy snagged some pics for us! Early morning seems to be the best time to catch them 🌞 The glass bottom boat tours are a Florida tradition and actually the oldest tourist attraction in the state of Florida. They’ve operating in some form here since 1878 🤯 They were the most popular tourist attraction in the state before theme parks came along. There’s boardwalks for walking around and you might even recognize some scenes from the original Tarzan movies 🎥 While swimming hasn’t been allowed for almost a decade, rumor has it that could be changing soon 👙🩱🩲🩳

In July 2019, 1.5 million dollars in appropriations was awarded to the project. On May 20th, Zalak penned a letter to the state Department of Environmental Protection to keep the process going.

Ginnie Springs is a Florida favorite and it’s easy to see why when you arrive—with multiple springs to explore and caves to dive, plus 2-miles of primitive riverfront camping available on a first come first serve basis. 🤿🏕

It’s also one of the few rivers that allows tubing in Florida 🍩🍩🍩

It’s usually a party at Ginnie, so bring your friends and leave the kids at home. 👙🩱🩲🩳

Ichetucknee Springs is one of the best places to experience a slice of “Old Florida” and one of the few rivers in Florida that allows tubing. While the tube run has been cut in half since the pandemic it’s still 1-2 hours and can be done over and over. There are also kayak, canoe and iSUP rentals, all at the General Store via the South Entrance. The North Entrance is where you can swim at the spring head, dive the Blue Hole and do some hiking 🥾🤿🛶

While there’s no camping at the park, there’s plenty nearby. Our favorite was Ichetucknee Springs Campground near the North Entrance. They also have rentals & discounts on them for campers 🍩

I’m an avid Florida explorer and this handy-dandy guide has inspired me to check out the beauty of the state even more. I’ve lived in Florida for over 12 years and I have visited some of the springs listed in the book but I had no clue just how many natural springs that the Sunshine State has to offer! I appreciate all of the information that lies within this book. There’s no need to look elsewhere! I’m a big planner and this book is all that I will need when I plan my next visit to the springs! I also love the fact that I carry this guide with me anywhere since it’s on my iPhone! I cannot wait to see what the author creates next! Have you been to Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring in Florida? 👹

It’s the closest thing you’ll find to a cenote in the US. It was formed when the roof of an underground river collapsed forming what is called a karst window, exposing the river to sunlight. ☀️☀️☀️

It’s solely a snorkeling and scuba destination now, but worth the stop if you find yourself near Gainesville or Ocala. They have rentals onsite (including wetsuits) and reservations are recommended. There’s only 5 time slots a day and space is limited. 🤿

The park surrounding the spring is gorgeous and there is camping onsite 🏕 You can even take a trapeze lesson next door at Two Hawk Hammock, which also has accommodations and happy hour 🎪🍻

Check out Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens while you’re in the area too, you won’t be disappointed! 🌺🌴
