While we keep cooking things up over in these parts, enjoy host Casey Bozell making a repeat appearance on the wonderful and hilarious Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone! And while you’re in the podcasting mood, give some KCW back episodes a listen! 😁

Author Jonathan Taplin is here to talk about his book, “The End of Reality” and the four billionaires who are trying to bring on that end. And speaking of ends, we’re on the receiving end of your thoughts, and they go straight to our head. It’s “Maibag! Concussion Edition.” Listen wherever you get your pods!

Hey KCW listeners, both old and new! If you have a moment, I've got two questions for you:

1. What's your favorite thing happening right now in classical music?
2. Would you be willing to come talk about it with me in a pre-recorded or livestream format?

Oh, the cat? That's Freya, the mischevious Studio Cat. She's here in the hopes you'll engage with the post.

A new episode of drops today, and music tracks are featuring the violin stylings of the humble host of Keep Classical Weird.

What you're seeing here is host Casey Bozell with phenomenal comic and all around cool human PAULA POUNDSTONE. In the second picture were some gorgeous lilies that Casey was left in charge of, as Paula needed to jump on a plane the next day and didn't want the lilies to go to waste. They instead brightened up Casey's dorm space at Yma Is Young Musicians and Artists for two whole weeks!

All of this is to say that Paula brings the gift of laughter to earbuds week after week, and this pod is grateful for all her work and cheer. Keep Classical Weird is working on bringing some levity to your ears at home... keep an eye out in early 2024! 👀

Hey, KCW friends!

Casey here, just checking in. My freelance musician jobs have kept me a busy bee (we’re not stuck at home anymore, are we??), and while I have a few episodes that just need editing and posting, I’ve been unable to complete them. I have even flirted with the idea of taking down the pod site.

But this pod is still being downloaded! These kind of statistics are pretty miniscule in podcast land, but I’m ferklempt every time I see them.

So I’m checking in to say thank you, and assure you this pod will have more new episodes. Someday.

Love you all, friends. Stay safe and stay weird. 🥰

From Friday's episode... while we do break down all the aspects of the movie Impromptu, there's also this CRUCIAL connection. This is a sacred and respected rule of Keep Classical Weird: when one can connect classical music to Star Trek, one DOES connect classical music to Star Trek.

WHAT? A new episode!! 🥳

Join Casey and Sophia Tegart as they deconstruct the 1991 movie “Impromptu.” Will they like it better than “A Late Quartet?” (The bar wasn’t super high, I guess…)

In honor of the pod returning in a couple short weeks, here’s a snapshot of what’s being pored through… a VERY early Casey Does Classical in which Casey Bozell discusses the Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute.

Note from Casey: Ahhhh, I’ve learned SO MUCH since then.

We’ve gotten the question: are new episodes of the pod coming? The answer is unequivocally YES. There are several that are recorded and awaiting the editing and producing that’s needed, and the time to complete it proves difficult when half your staff is a cat.

BUT, host Casey Bozell did get a touch of fame this evening with a solid THREE seconds on ABC News! 🥳🥳🥳 It’s been such an amazing journey to see young composer Olive’s work touch hearts far and wide.

We’re still here, and the churning of episodes will happen as soon as possible. Thanks for all of the amazing support, friends! Stay safe and stay weird!

Olive Wallace wrote a song and left it on the kitchen counter because she didn’t think it was good enough to perform. That’s when her mom had the idea to share the score online.

ATTENTION. THIS AMOUNT OF LEVITY AND SILLINESS IS NOT A DRILL.

KCW’s next live event will take place at Young Musicians and Artists in July, and host Casey Bozell kiiiiiind of made a promise to Sophia Tegart that she could fire a T Shirt cannon into the audience.

We see no reason why this cannon cannot be the spectacular ending to many live classical events in the future. Throw a buck or two our way if you care to!

Final note: naming this amazing piece of machinery ”Canny McCannonFace” is not beyond us.
