Tribute of bound captives, gold rings, cattle (cows) and other objects are brought to Egypt from the Southern regions. An Egyptian is seen controlling the chariot of the elite southerner.

Tomb of Huy, the Viceroy of Kush, “King’s Son of Kush, Overseer of the Southern Countries”. The tomb of Huy, is located in the Theban Necropolis and is also known as tomb TT40, or sometimes Tomb of Amenhotep/Huy, as Amenhotep was Huy’s formal name, yet he goes by Huy.

A Viceroy is “the governor of a country or province who rules as the representative of a king or sovereign”. He rules over the foreign territories, for the sake of the crown, who has conquered and colonised the regions the Viceroy will control for the sake of the king. Huy, worked under the rule of king Tutankhamun.

Triad of Menkaure

Old Kingdom, 4th Dynasty, ca. 2530-2500 BC.

From Valley Temple of Menkaure in Giza.
Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 40678

This triad shows the king accompanied by Hathor and a Nome Goddess with the crouching jackal emblem of the nome of Cynopolis. Menkaure is wearing the white crown of Upper Egypt.

It was believed that they were placed in each region of Egypt, but this is an exaggeration, and the five were found in good condition, except for one completely broken and the other almost intact, and there are now three of them in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and two in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (11.1738 - 09.200.1)
