End of summer fun and another page turned in the next chapter of The Northside Chronicle.

Some of our partners in this small Pittsburgh Community Newspaper Network are also working on their next chapters, a few maybe final.

After a well-needed trip North, delighted to come across similar community newspapers in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Discovering most are also decades old, one nearly two hundred years old, inspires hope and rekindles the sense of connection when physically available in community spaces.

Long live print. Print is for the people.

Rare and becoming harder to find.

A featured PCNN story about a regional plant shines the light on how easily trends can inspire novelty consumption, creating an unsustainable ecosystem. You can read the original story from The Homepage's March 2022 edition at their online archive Hazelwoodinitiative.org, as well as, in print again with The Northside Chronicle's May 2022 newspaper.

Nearly two years ago, the tiny teams of several community newspapers across the city hopped on Zoom to find ways to support each other for the very first time.

Even before the murmurs of a global pandemic, the world's gradual shift to digital had already disrupted the newspaper industry in a similar fashion.

We're extremely proud of the continued heritage printed news provides to the very real spaces that we live in. From stories of the influential, to the voices of the impacted, hyper-local newspapers collect and preserve neighborhood history in a central place for all residents.

Our efforts to provide and protect resources, such as ramps and your local community newspaper, are for the community now and in the future.

Excited to share the addition of South Pittsburgh Reporter and Gazette 2.0 to the Pittsburgh Community Newspaper Network (PCNN).

They join The Citizen, The Bulletin, The Homepage, The Northside Chronicle, East End Print, and The Wilkinsburg Sun.

Together we work to share resources, awareness, and provide our communities the ability to have their stories and advertising delivered in a form that is accessible to everyone.

Show your support by picking up a copy while you're in the neighborhood and check out a small business while you're there too.

Picked up a fresh copy of The Citizen to enjoy with last week's Friday fish fry pick from local sea purveyor Fet Fisk.

The Citizen is delivered every Friday to the North Boroughs and select Northside neighborhoods. This week's issue covers high school sports and current policies within the neighboring districts, plus letters to the editor, upcoming events, and classifieds.

Any suggestion on a fish fry for this week to go along with the next edition of The Citizen?
