CDC has confirmed the first human infection with 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the United States has been detected in the State of Washington in a person who had recently traveled to Wuhan, China. A lab test developed at CDC was used to confirm this patient’s illness was caused by the recently discovered 2019 novel coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China. Precautions are being taken to prevent any further exposures.

While person-to-person spread with this new coronavirus in Asia raises CDC’s level of concern, the agency continues to believe the risk of #2019-nCoV to the American public at large remains low at this time. Learn more about what CDC is doing to respond: https://bit.ly/3apDji6
