Hi everyone!! Tomorrow’s episode of my radio show, 'Memos From the World' named “Folk: Character & Color” marks the conclusion of this semester’s chapter. We’ll listen to folk-inspired classical music from Italy, France, Scandinavia, and other regions/countries!

This playlist is centered around Antonín Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12 in F Major popularly known as “the American Quartet.” Today’s episode explores the New England winter landscape with upbeat, complex, and hopeful melodies. Hope you can join me!

(Preview song: “Montagne, que tu es haute” by Kronos Quartet & Olivia Chaney from album, ‘Folk Songs’ — attached picture below)

I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to be together listening to music during this tumultuous time. Stay safe this winter.

Tomorrow’s episode of my radio show, ‘Memos From the World’ on WOZQ 91.9 is part one of ‘The People Speak’ with part two airing next week. We'll listen to the powerful, resounding, and legendary music of the Civil Rights Movement and Apartheid, as well as spirituals, blues, excerpts from George Gershwin’s opera, Porgy and Bess, and an MLK Jr. speech. Join me to celebrate the BLM movement.

Listen to this preview song to get excited! (Mahalia Jackson, known as the Queen of Gospel, sings We Shall Overcome from the album, “Mahalia Jackson Sings the Best-Loved Hymns of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”)
