When I started writing this song it was an apology to my family. I wasn't feeling like a very good dad.
But as I kept writing it, I realized it was about my father. He and my mom got divorced and I didn't see him again... for over 20 years. He never got to say goodbye. So this turned into his "goodbye" song.
