On July 20th it will be 55 years since humans walked on the moon. I think it's the greatest single achievement in human history. For one shining ephemeral moment, the world united in awe and wonder. I don't know that we'll ever see another like it.
I mapped out the 6 Apollo landings on one of my lunar images and listed the 12 astronauts who took the walk, where and when.

The summer Milky Way at Stonehenge 🤩✨

So we have not had many clear skies at all during the right moon phases and his night was not forecast to be great but it turned out to be the clearest night of the year so far. I took my usual shots for my first batch of images which were a handful of RGB and HA frames but from 0100 till 0150 i just left the tracker running and managed 25 x 120s F4 iso 640 frames that combined 50 minutes of exposure to put this shot together with a 120s F4 iso 250 foreground shot, every frame had perfectly round stars to my amazement 😍

Simulation theory suggests that we live in a computer simulation created by an ultra-advanced civilization or higher being.

This implausible hypothesis implies that the Universe and everything in it, including us, is not actually real or organic. Considering that technology is essentially limitless, the idea that it can advance to the point of creating highly realistic simulations that are indistinguishable from reality is not inconceivable.

Advocates of simulation theory point to various phenomena that seem to suggest we are living in a simulation, such as glitches in the laws of physics, the existence of mathematical patterns in nature, and the concept of quantum indeterminacy.

Simulation theory remains purely speculative, but it does raise some thought-provoking questions. Do you believe in simulation theory?

One Side of Earth you haven't seen

One of my most detailed photos of Jupiter, captured using an 11" scope from my backyard. This was during opposition, so Ganymede's shadow gives the illusion the moon is much closer to the planet than reality. This photo was captured as part of a 6-week study of Jovian weather!

Pushing the details pretty much as far as I can to show surface detail of Ganymede is always a challenge, but what stood out to me this time is that colorful splash below it. I have no idea what that is, but it almost seems to light up!

On August 2, 1971, the Lunar Module "Falcon" was photographed against the barren lunarscape during the third Apollo 15 lunar surface extravehicular activity at the Hadley-Apennine landing site. The Apennine Front is visible in the left background and Hadley Delta Mountain in the right background. Near the United States flag is the Solar Wind Composition (SWC) experiment. Last Crater can be seen to the right of the Lunar Module. The image also shows bootprints and tracks of the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV). The light spherical object at the top is a reflection in the lens of the camera. While David Scott and James Irwin descended to explore the moon, Alfred Worden remained in lunar orbit with the Command and Service Modules.

Earth is at aphelion today, its farthest from the Sun for the year, just 3.3% farther than at perihelion in January. Tomorrow evening about 20 or 30 minutes after sunset, try to sight the extremely thin young crescent Moon low in the west-northwest. Will this be your record youngest Moon? For most of North America, you're seeing it only 25 to 28 hours old depending on where you are.
