February 5, 2021
A 61-year-old Filipino-American man was on a New York train heading to work when he was attacked. According to ABC 7 New York, Noel Quintana was slashed across the face leaving him with countless stitches. Quintana’s family said the injury left him unable to talk for a while.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning on the L subway train to Manhattan. Noel Quintana said an emotionally disturbed man started kicking his backpack and he asked the man to stop. Quintana said the suspect then attacked him slashing him from cheek to cheek.
“I was scared because I thought I was gonna die and nobody helped me,” Quintana told ABC News.
The suspect fled the scene when the train came to a stop at First Avenue and 14th Street.
Nobody helped Quintana who was bleeding. He stepped off the train and asked the ticket booth attendant to call 911. He went to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated.
