Tuesday- mostly sunny. Southerly winds of 18-25 mph with gusts up to mid 30’s. High of 93 and low of 70.

Wednesday- cloudy with rain early morning hours and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rain expected to be around quarter to half inch. SW winds of 5-9 mph. High of 83 and low of 68.

Thursday- early morning rain otherwise mostly cloudy. SSE winds of 5-10 mph. High of 89 and low of 70.

Monday- rain starting around midnight (0000) and becoming thunderstorms around 4am (0400) then ending between 6-7am (0600-0700). If thunderstorms do develop looking at heavy rain. Expectations of half to one inch or higher if thunderstorms develop. Will change to partly sunny rest of the day. SSE winds of 8-14 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 84 and low of 65.

Tuesday- mostly cloudy with chance of afternoon thunderstorms. If storms do develop could see half an inch. Southerly winds of 6-14 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 83 and low of 58.

Monday- mostly sunny with a very slight chance of a late afternoon into early evening thunderstorm. Mostly likely more to the north and northwest of Des Moines but it could stretch down here. NW winds of 5-11 mph then becoming 13-18 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 78 and low of 53.

Tuesday- sunny. NW winds of 7-14 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 76 and low of 49.

Wednesday- sunny. NE winds of 4-8 mph. High of 74 and low of 53.

Thursday- mostly sunny. SE winds of 5-15 mph. High of 78 and low of 54.

Friday- chance of rain otherwise cloudy. SE winds of 10-15 mph. High of 76 and low of 60.

Saturday- chance of isolated thunderstorms in the morning otherwise mostly cloudy. Southerly winds of 5-10 mph. High of 77 and low of 58.

Sunday- mostly sunny. Southerly winds of 5-8 mph. High of 81 and low of 62.

Indianola Peeps: weather update for tonight through Sunday

Friday- Rain moving into the area around 2-3am (0200-0300) then becoming a strong line of thunderstorms that could be severe. Chance of hail with strong damaging winds. As of right now the chance of tornadoes is more to the SW but will update if this changes. Expectations of half inch of rain but could be higher if storms intensify. After storms end around 9am (0900) it will clear up and be sunny in the afternoon. Southerly winds of 12-17 mph with gusts up to mid 20's during the morning then after frontal passage the winds will be out of the NW at same speed. Winds will increase with storm development. High of 73 and low of 48.

Saturday- sunny. SE winds of 5-10 mph. High of 75 and low of 58.

Sunday- chance of rain starting after midnight (0000) and continuing throughout the morning before tapering off after 9am (0900). Less than a quarter inch expected. NW winds of 5-12 mph. High of 71 and low of 53.

05/20/2024

Indianola Peeps: weather update for tonight into Tuesday

Monday night
1) Thunderstorms moving into the area between 10-11pm (2200-2300).

2) Winds will be out of the SE at 7-10 mph but with storms coming in the winds will drastically increase.

Tuesday morning hours
1) Strong thunderstorms will move into the area after midnight (0000).

2) Expect heavy rainfall with the potential for an inch to an inch and a half.

3) Strong winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to mid 30's in the morning.

Tuesday afternoon (Greatest Potential for Severe Weather)
1) The strongest potential for severe storms could develop in the afternoon around 3pm (1500) and continuing until close to 10pm (2000).

2) Winds will be out of the SSE at 20-27 mph with gusts up to low 40's. Winds could get up to between 50-70 mph if the severe storms do develop.

3) Potential for large hail between an inch to two inches.

4) Potential for another inch or two of rain.

5) The potential for tornadoes as of now is on the lower side and not a major threat. That could change and if it does I will give an update.

Monday- rain beginning late Sunday will continue through the morning otherwise cloudy. Around a quarter inch expected if thunderstorms develop will be higher. Southerly winds of 7-10 mph. High of 82 and low of 65.

Tuesday- Rain starting early morning hours then again in the afternoon. Between a quarter to half an inch expected. SE winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to high 20's. High of 82 and low of 53.

Wednesday- mostly sunny with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Westerly winds of 10-15 mph. High of 72 and low of 51.

Thursday- sunny. Southerly winds of 5-10 mph. High of 78 and low of 58.

Friday- rain showers with embedded thunderstorms otherwise cloudy. SE winds of 8-15 mph. High of 77 and low of 56.

Saturday- chance of afternoon thunderstorms otherwise mostly sunny. NW winds of 9-12 mph. High of 74 and low of 55.

Indianola Peeps: weather for the week of 13-19 MAY 2024

Monday- chance of rain after midnight (0000) with rain showers with some isolated thunderstorms coming in around 3am (0300). Rain will continue until mid afternoon where it will taper off. Expectations of three quarter to an inch of rain. SW winds of 5-10 mph will switch to SE in the late morning then switch again to NW in the late afternoon. High of 67 and low of 54.

Tuesday- cloudy morning then switching to sunny in the afternoon. NE winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 72 and low of 47.

Wednesday- mostly cloudy with a slight chance of late afternoon shower/thunderstorm. SE winds of 48 mph. High of 73 and low of 54.

Thursday- chance of early morning showers with embedded thunderstorms otherwise cloudy. Westerly winds of 5-8 mph. High of 72 and low of 52.

Friday- cloudy with a chance of afternoon showers. SW winds of 6-15 mph with gusts up to lower 20's. High of 76 and low of 55.

Saturday- mostly sunny. SW wins of 7-12 mph. High of 81 and low of 58.

Wednesday- partly sunny with chance of rain starting around 2-3pm (1400-1500). Chance of thunderstorms developing in the late afternoon into the evening. Expectations of a tenth of an inch of rain. Light and variable winds early hours then becoming 7-13 mph out of the SE. High of 76 and low of 52.

Thursday- chance of rain and thunderstorms continue into the morning hours and then come back in the afternoon through the evening. A tenth to a quarter inch of rain expected. Northerly winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 64 and low of 45.

Monday- partly sunny. Chance of rain showers with possible embedded thunderstorms starting between 10-midnight (2200-0000). SE winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to high 20's. High of 77 and low of 56.

Tuesday- rain with embedded thunderstorms possible until 5am (0500). Expectations of three quarters to an inch and a half of rain. SW winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 74 and low of 53.

Wednesday- scattered thunderstorms otherwise cloudy. Possibly see a quarter inch of rain. Easterly winds of 10-13 mph with gusts up to low 20's before switching out of the NW in the late afternoon. High of 73 and low of 49.

Thursday- slight chance of early morning rain then becoming partly sunny. NW winds of 13-15 mph. High of 65 and low of 45.

Friday- mostly sunny. NW winds of 6-12 mph. High of 68 and low of 49.

Indianola Peeps: weather for the weekend. Since this has been a busy weather week I felt a good update for the weekend is needed.

Friday- fog until between 8-9am (0800-0900) then becoming sunny. Light and variable winds then becoming 5-10 mph out of the SE. High of 72 and low of 54.

Saturday- rain with an isolated thunderstorm starting around 4-5am (0400-0500) and continuing until 10-11am (1000-1100). Quarter inch expected. Southerly winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's in the morning then switching out of the NW in the afternoon. High of 68 and low of 43.

Sunday- mostly sunny. NE winds of 5-12 mph. High of 69 and low of 52.

Indianola Peeps: weather update for tonight through Thursday

Tonight- isolated rain showers from 6-9pm (1800-2100). Looking at quarter to half inch possible. ENE winds of 8-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's. Low of 53.

Thursday- rain starting back up around 1am (0100) with embedded thunderstorms after 2am (0200). Rain could be heavy at times. The majority of the heavy rain will be done by noon (1200) with lingering isolated showers in the afternoon. Expectation is 1 to 2 inches of rain or more if thunderstorms develop as projected. SE winds of 12-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's then switching out of the SW in the afternoon. High of 68 and low of 46.

04/30/2024

Indianola Peeps: weather update for today

Tuesday
1) Sunny in the morning with clouds moving in after noon (1200).

2) Thunderstorms will be developing in the western part of Iowa. If these do develop they could be severe.

3) The path of the storms will be moving easterly. If these do develop we will most likely have them coming through Central Iowa around 4-5pm (1600-1700) with the most severe hitting between 6-8pm (1800-2000).

4) With these thunderstorms we will see an enhanced chance of very strong damaging winds and large hail. Chance of tornados but not looking as enhanced as last Friday.

5) Southerly winds of 5-10 mph before clouds move in and the winds will increase to 15-22 mph with gusts up to mid 30's. If we see thunderstorms develop the winds will a lot higher.

6) Rain expectation of half to three quarters of an inch.

7) High today of 80 and low of 50.

Monday- partly sunny (best day to mow). Westerly winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to mid 20's during the day then slowing to 5-10 mph in the evening. High of 65 and low of 48.

Tuesday- partly sunny morning before turning cloudy late morning. Chance for rain or thunderstorms in the mid evening. Southerly winds of 8-12 mph in the morning then becoming 15-22 mph with gusts up to low 30's when the clouds move in. High of 79 and low of 50.

Wednesday- cloudy with a chance of isolated rain showers during the day. There is a chance of thunderstorms developing but at this time is looking slim. Easterly winds of 5-12 mph. High of 73 and low of 59.

Thursday- waves of rain showers all day with embedded thunderstorms possible in the late afternoon into the evening. Southerly winds of 10-17 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 70 and low of 49.

Friday- mostly sunny. NW winds of 10-15 mph. High of 63 and low of 45.

Saturday- mostly sunny. Westerly winds of 8-15 mph. High of 65 and low of 46.

Indianola Peeps: weather update for the rest of the week.

Friday- rain will start between 2-3am (0200-0300) and continue the rest of the day. Scattered thunderstorms starting in mid-afternoon (1500) with stronger more developed thunderstorms happening around 5pm-9pm (1700-2100). Expectations are half to an inch of rain with higher amounts with thunderstorms. SE winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to high 30's. High of 67 and low of 64. Due to warmer SE winds into the night we could see strong thunderstorms into the late evening.

Saturday- mostly sunny will make for a nicer morning and afternoon before rain and thunderstorms move in late afternoon into early evening. Expectations of half an inch of rain with higher amounts with thunderstorms. SW winds of 15-23 mph with gusts up to low 30's. High of 79 and low of 61.

Sunday- heavy rain throughout the early morning hours with 1-2 inches expected. Rain will continue until afternoon when thunderstorms come back into the area. Expectations of half to three quarter of an inch of rain. Again if thunderstorms are strong we will see higher amounts. Southerly winds of 15-20 mph with gusts up to high 20's. High of 72 and low of 51.

Monday- cloudy with a chance of light rain starting late evening around 10pm (2200). SW winds of 10-15 mph during the morning then becoming 20-25 mph with gusts up to mid 30's. High of 70 and low of 48.

Tuesday- light rain will continue through the morning and ending around noon (1200). Expecting around a tenth of an inch. WSW winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to mid 30's. High of 68 and low of 38.

Wednesday- mostly sunny. ENE winds of 7-10 mph. High of 62 and 44.

Thursday- mostly cloudy with rain starting in the evening. SE winds of 10-20 mph. High of 66 and low of 53.

Friday- rain continues throughout the day with chance of severe thunderstorms. Expectations of an inch to inch an a half of rain. SE winds of 19-23 mph with gusts up to low 30's. High of 72 and low of 54.

Saturday- mostly sunny. SW winds of 10-20 mph with the stronger winds early. High of 74 and low of 56.

Indianola Peeps: weather update for Tuesday

1) rain will start back up around 10am (1000)

2) Showers with heavy bands of rain and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.

3) Winds will start out of the ESE at 15-20 mph then switch to 25-32 mph with gusts up to upper 40's. Could see higher winds with the thunderstorms. Kansas is seeing winds in the upper 60's.

4) Timing has the storms moving out around 4pm (1600) with a chance of isolated thunderstorms the rest of the evening.

5) Looking at possibility of 1-2 inches of rain and higher amounts if larger thunderstorms develop.

6) High chance of large hail developing with thunderstorms.

7) Chance of tornadoes developing in the afternoon and into the evening if strong thunderstorms develop.

Indianola Peeps: weather for the week of 15-21 APR 2024

Monday- sunny. ESE winds of 10-17 mph with gusts up to upper 20's. High of 82 and low of 61.

Tuesday- rain starting soon after 1am (0100). Rain throughout the day with heavy rain along with thunderstorms in the afternoon. The majority of the rain should end by early evening. There will be some smaller bands of rain until midnight (0000). These are enhanced chances of strong thunderstorms which means strong winds, possible large hail and could produce tornadoes. Expectations of 1-2 inches of rain and could see more with thunderstorm development. ESE winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to high 30's. High of 72 and low of 51.

Wednesday-Slight chance of rain during the early morning hours otherwise partly sunny. NW winds of 15-22 mph with gusts up to mid 30's. High of 64 and low of 44.

Thursday- rain showers ending around 1-2pm (1300-1400) otherwise cloudy. Northerly winds of 6-12 mph. High of 55 and low of 39.

Monday- sunny. NW winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 40 and low of 30.

Tuesday- sunny. SW winds of 15-20 mph with gusts up to low 30's during the early morning hours then switching out of the NW at 10-15 mph with gusts up to mid 20's. High of 60 and low of 32.

Wednesday- mostly sunny. Northerly winds of 8-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 44 and low of 27.

Thursday- mostly cloudy with slight chance of rain/snow mix late evening. SE winds of 10-15 mph. High of 48 and low of 30.

Friday- mostly sunny. NE winds of 10-12 mph. High of 51 and low of 32.

Saturday- cloudy with a chance of rain. Easterly winds of 9-15 mph with gusts up to low 20's. High of 50 and low of 32.

Sunday- this is where it can get tricky. There is a system that will bring a lot of precipitation. The trick part is if this is mostly rain or does it get cold enough to become snow. Right now looking at over an inch of rain. SE winds of 10-15 mph with gusts up to the low 30's. High of 50 and low of 35 (but that could change).

This system on Sunday will go through all of Monday also. Updates to come later in the week.

Wednesday- partly sunny early morning then becoming cloudy by midday (1200). Rain starting after 10pm (2200). Light and variable winds early before coming out of the East at 5-10 mph. When the rain moves in the winds will start to get gusty. High of 70 and low of 52.

Thursday- rain rest of the morning with a chance of turning to thunderstorms around 4am (0400). The chances for thunderstorms diminish late morning then turn to light rain the rest of the day before ending in the evening. Rain totals of half an inch to an inch with higher amounts possible if thunderstorms do develop. Easterly winds of 10-15 mph with gusts in the lower 20's then switching out of the N in the late afternoon. High of 63 and low of 38.

Indianola Peeps: weather for the week of 04-10 MAR 2024

Monday- chance of showers starting around 9am (0900) and going throughout the day until late afternoon. This will be light showers that will add up to tenth to quarter inch. Easterly winds of 8-15 mph before switching out of the NW at 10-15 mph with gusts in the mid 20's. High of 61 and low of 33.

Tuesday- mostly sunny. NE winds of 7-10 mph. High of 57 and low of 35.

Wednesday- mostly cloudy. Chance of afternoon rain. Easterly winds of 6-12 mph. High of 58 and low of 37.

Thursday-light rain in the morning then rain showers starting around 4pm (1600) and continuing through rest of the evening. Half inch of rain expected. Easterly winds of 8-15 mph. High of 54 and low of 38.

Friday- cloudy with rain continuing most of the morning. NE winds of 12-20 mph with gusts into the high 20's. . High of 51 and low of 31.

Saturday mostly sunny. Northerly winds of 8-13 mph High of 51 and low of 29.

Sunday- sunny. NW winds of 8-10 mph. High of 55 and low of 30.

Indianola Peeps: weather update for Tuesday through Wednesday

Tuesday
1) mostly sunny then gradually getting cloudy as before becoming overcast in the evening.

2) Winds will be out of the SW at 5-10 mph before switching out of the NW around 1pm (1300). This will occur at frontal passage. The winds will start to pick up to between 2-3pm (1400-1500). The winds will become 20-25 mph with gusts up to low 40's.

3) The high for the day will be 65 and will occur around 1pm (1300). As the winds pick up the temp will drop drastically. By 5pm (1700) the temp will be close to 46 and by 9pm (2100) the temp will be less than 28 degrees.

4) The wind chills will be 38 by 5pm (1700) and 13 by 9pm (2100).

5) You may ask why is 9pm (2100) significant. Well that's the time that we are looking at snow to move in to the area. We are looking at a good dusting up to a half inch. It should be out of the area by midnight (0000).

Wednesday

1) The temperature will continue to fall throughout the morning hours. The low will hit between 6-7am (0600-0700). The low will be 14 but have a wind chill of -5.

2) Around noon the temperature will start to gradually increase to the high of 35.

3) Winds will be 15-20 mph out of the NW before switching out of the southwest in the afternoon at 10-15 mph with gusts into the upper 20's.

4) It will be sunny the rest of the day and clear at night.

5) Low will be 21.

Indianola Peep: weather for the week of 26 FEB - 03 MAR 2024

Monday- sunny. SW winds of 9-19 mph with gusts into the lower 30's. High of 75 and low of 45.

Tuesday- mostly sunny during the day. SW winds of 10-14 mph then switching to 15-20 mph with gusts into the mid 30's.

1) Now time to explain the temperature changes that are coming. The high will be around 70 and that will happen around 3-4pm (1500-1600) then the fun happens.

2) Frontal passage close to 5pm (1700) will switch the winds of out of the NW and with it comes the cold air we have escaped that last couple of weeks.

3) The swtiching of winds out of the NW will bring Arctic cold to the area and the temps will drop drastically. The temp will drop to 36 but feel like low 20's by 8pm (2000). That is roughly a 35 degree drop in less than three hours.

4) But wait! It's not over. The temp will continue to drop until 8am (0800) when it will hit the low of 16 and feel like 2.

5) With the frontal passage there is a chance for snow from 9pm-2am (2100-0200). Expectations are no more than an ich of snow.

Wednesday- mostly sunny. NW winds will be 5-20 mph with the high winds in the morning and dying down thorughout the day. High of 33 and low of 19.

Thursday- sunny. SW winds of 10-20 mph. High of 51 and low of 33.

Friday- sunny. Southerly winds of 15-20 mph. High of 60 and low of 40.

Saturday- sunny. Southerly winds of 10-15 mph. High of 70 and low of 51.

Sunday- mostly cloudy. SE winds of 15-20 mph. High of 75 and low of 52.
