Hey all- let me introduce myself! I’m Jake Schneider. I’m a podcast host, a follower of Jesus, and an advocate for men’s mental health.

June is men’s mental health month, and I wanted to share my story: I attempted su***de at 16. Instead of losing my life, I gave it to Jesus. The next 10+ years included: bouts of depression and anxiety, periods of joy and sorrow, and growth in my own faith as I constantly fail to live up to what I preach; but, I keep trying and I keep growing. The biggest thing I’ve learned is this: share and invite. Share your story, and invite people into your life. Sorrow and joy ebb and flow. But you’ll never be a worse person for sharing and inviting. This June, check in on the men in your life. It’s a lonely road sometimes. And men- effing talk about life. Don’t hide it.

This is important to me because I have followed John and his father for some time on social media, and the content they create together has been inspiring to me as an artist. Since starting Life as an Outsider, I have talked with many veterans who are now business owners. In the past, whether privately or on an episode, many of them have expressed how hard life can be for some that are coming home. QRFup hopes to change that.

QRFup is an app based SOS by vets, for vets. If you find yourself in a crisis, go through the app and you will be connected not to law enforcement or government, but to a community of Vets who are there to help. Go like and follow, and stay tuned for any and all updates.
