This is very good read. Don't be confused by fake no kill organizations anymore! Fake No Kill leaves dogs out on the streets and tells finders to put them back where they were found! What kind of compassion is that!!??

Human Animal Support Services (HASS) is a program that abandons the fundamental purpose of a shelter: to provide a safety net of care for lost, homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals.

Under HASS, people who find animals are told to either take them into their own homes until their families are located or leave them on the street because “Intakes of healthy strays and owner surrenders doesn’t exist anymore,” and there is “No kennel space for rehoming, stray hold or intake.”

Why? To appear to be doing a better job than they are. Because shelters are turning animals away and published statistics only measure outcomes for animals taken in, they claim higher placement or “save” rates without doing the work necessary to achieve No Kill success in earnest. Meanwhile, animals are dying on the street.

“Give me shelter,” our free guide, explains why this approach is a threat to animals, an existential threat to sheltering, and what progressive shelters committed to the best interests of animals should be doing instead: https://bit.ly/40h47d0.

Have no idea why anyone would give their pets or livestock moldy anything but here you go …. Don’t do it !

We have had a few cases of mycotoxin poisoning recently. Its not a poisoning that folks are generally familiar with, so we thought we'd share the information to raise awareness.-

Ingestion of mouldy food from the bin or a compost pile puts dogs, cats, horses, livestock, and even wildlife at risk for toxicity due to tremorgenic mycotoxins. These toxins may be found in MOULDY bread, pasta, cheese, nuts, or other decaying matter like compost. Clinical signs include vomiting, agitation, incoordination, tremors, seizures, and elevated body temperature. A specific mycotoxin called aflatoxin can even cause liver failure. Be sure to keep mouldy food and compost out of your pets reach!

Oh this sweet giant baby is just a scared boy. I was able to leash him then coax him out with treats. He was nervous in the run but treats definitely seemed to help. Anytime I raised my hand to ask for “sit” he got terrified so I don’t even want to think about his poor past. He will need someone patient and a confident doggy friend! He seemed interested in the other dogs thru the run! He was also very treat motivated and definetly kept coming back for more treats.

We have two bros that are very nervous and not adjusting well to the shelter. They both can use some time in a home to decompress and show how wonderful they are for an addition to any active family. Both are neutered with all vaccines and microchips and only 9 months old. If you can help these sweeties, please let us know.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
8/24: When I approached his kennel, Marco was sitting on his Kuranda bed. I reached my hand in to leash him and he slightly flinched away. Once the leash was on, he walked out on a loose leash with ears alert and tail slightly tucked. Once outside, Marco walked very carefully, almost crouching. He took treats gently from my hands but would flinch when I would try to
pet his head. He didn't react to me petting his body. I sat down on the ground and a lawnmower started far off and he was fixated on it. I offered him treats from my hand and he gently took the treats from my hand without moving his eyes or breaking his fixation on the sounds. He walked back in on a loose leash with a tense body and alert ears.
8/23: During AM cleaning, while i was walking dogs by his kennel he would lunge at the door and bark at them. when i approached him to take him out for a walk, he would move towards the back of the kennel avoiding the leash. he presented a tense body, wrinkly forehead, tucked tail. He becomes flinchy whenever i come near him while im walking him, and if a dog is vocalizing in the kennel he freezes up and stops walking, i had to muzzle him and carry him past the dogs.
8/21: as i approached Marco had his body pressed into the corner of his kennel. was able to slowly approach and leash him. once leashed he walked on a loose leash while hopping around. while walking had a wiggly body, high wagging tail and loose open mouth and tongue.

neck band on from when he left with rescue on 3/2/24. It was dug into neck but not embedded. Dog's neck was extremely irritated, red and bleeding in some spots. The neck band itself was yellowed, covered in f***s and smelled horrible. The dog's behavior was also alarming. They were cowering, defecating and urinating on themselves, did not walk on a leash, and flinches when reached to touch. We had to use a cart to get them into surgery and he urinated and defecated all over the cart and themselves.

Such a cutie! Sarge’s kennel was covered with a rug but he was quietly sleeping and got up to see me with happy tail wags! He was so excited outside and would come running to me when I called! His ears are so cute! He had happy tail wags for a husky that walked by! He had no issues with dress up and just wanted all the treats! I walked him by all the dogs in his run and he walked by happy and confident! I have 0 bad things to say about him! Seems like he would be a great doggo!

Homeless person abandoned dog inside apt unit. Requesting the dog to be picked up.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
8/25: Walked on a semi-tight leash out to the exercise runs. He noticed treats being tossed but remained focused on walking forward. Tail wagging with a neutral body while approaching the dogs in the runs.
8/24: Approaching and passing kennel, Sarge started to vocalize with a foward posture, paw at the kennel door, and became jumpy.
8/23: I noticed that throughout the day, dog would forward bark at sudden noises as well as people, including myself, walking by. After covering his kennel door and offering extra enrichment as well as tossing over treats, dog still began to slightly low
growl as I passed by. As I peeped from the top of the cover, dog held a dilated pupils and a tight mouth.
8/22: Walked with loose leash and tail swaying while he walked as ACT brought Sarge out to runs. Entered open run and pottied once unleashed. Came when called afterwards with wagging tail to gate and walked with loose leash inside, quiet in kennel throughout cleaning. After opening, however, did begin alarm barking at sudden noises (e.g. metal bowls moving, door slamming) and when volunteer walked by. took him out to runs and he walked with loose leash, wagging tail, but did scoot over and walked close along wall when passing citizens. Pottied multiple times out in run. Walked with loose leash back inside.

💜 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀

I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw little Gino in his kennel. He was curled up in a tight ball, laying on his bed. Not once did he bark or make a sound. I leashed him up and he was eager to go outside. He’s literally a walking SKELETON! 🥹🥹 My heart broke for him. Once outside, he was happy to explore for a bit, pottied and then was more about SNACKS than anything else. He is SO hungry and would do anything for snacks! He was searching the ground for crumbs that he could find. This boy will need small feedings, throughout the day. He cannot be given large amounts of food at one time. Poor Gino has had a ROUGH go at life and I hope that he gets the chance to be LOVED by someone and shown the good life! 🩶 On the PLUS side, he’s HEARTWORM NEGATIVE!

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
8/24: Approaching kennel holding leash, Gino was standing on all fours at kennel door with tail out and wagging, rushed out before leashing but was able to catch him between my legs and slipped leash on. Walked quickly with bunny hop (both hind legs in air) and I sped up to a jog and he stayed at same pace next to me until he reached grass then pottied. soft vocalizing when passing his kennel with other dogs but able to redirect with meaty treats. Had frozen peanut butter nylabone yesterday so today I added can cheese and chicken broth to his assigned frozen pb kong for enrinchment.
8/23: Approaching kennel, Gino is jumping up on kennel door with dilated pupils and is continuously for barking until redirected with treats. Noticed him attempting to dart through the handlers legs as well as pushing through the door without redirection. Maintained door covered in which he still remained vocalizing as other dog's would vocalize.
8/22: Vocalizing in kennel but sounds quiet. Able to redirect with attention and treats. Gave nylabone for extra enrichment. Quiet throughout most of day, but when he would vocalize and paw at kennel he would potty when I took him out and would be quiet after. Pottied 3 times today.
8/21: Constant barking in the kennel while I am in the row even when the kennel is covered. Walks on a loose leash. Growls a little bit while barking and looking me in the eye.

Mark is a cutie pie!!!! I literally want to out him in my pocket. He was sitting at the front of his kennel when I walked up and his tail was going nonstop. He had a relaxed wiggle body the whole time we hung out and he did great meeting a larger male dog. I’m OBSESSED with his colors and he’s a a perfect small/medium side. I can’t get over how friendly and adorable he is. He’d be a wonderful family dog and would soak up all the belly scratches. Fall in love with Mark!!

I saw this little hyena a couple weeks back and he was great on a temp test with the dog I had out at the time, he came in with Rin Tin Tin who was tagged last week. He’s a happy wiggly little dude just like his brother! He’s an energetic little dude but he’s just young and needs space to romp and play. Another volunteer brought him outside but I made sure to go see him in his kennel later on and he was just as happy and wiggly as can be but wasn’t making any noise. Outside he runs around curiously and does great with other dogs. He’s full of lots of kisses too and he takes treats gently from your hand. He had some dermatitis but it seems to be on the mend and hair will grow back! He was just like his brother and crawled on my lap for lots of cuddles. He’s a great schmedium size and would make a good adventure dog for an active owner. He’s such a hoot!

Hello,
These 2 dogs were picked up after it was reported that there were two dogs at the dog park, at an apartment complex, for several days. A1957209 is very friendly with people and gets along with other dogs. He is heartworm negative but has demodex. A1957210 is shy but very sweet-see attached video. He is also heartworm negative and has demodex.
Please let us know if you can help them, they’re available on 8-5-24.

Thanks!

8/4 Very playful, greets me with a loose wiggly body and waggy tail. Jumps on my legs playfully. Walks on a loose leash to
outside runs.
Very playful, greets me with a loose wiggly body and waggy tail. Jumps on my legs playfully. attempts to stand and hide
between my legs and watch me do any activities

8/16 Approaching kennel, Copper is very excited and jumpy. I open the kennel leashing him and he walks out wagging his tail.
He can be jumpy at times while walking but is easy to redirect. He walks on a semi-loose leash, softly panting as I take him
and place him in a run.

8/19 Approaching kennel, Copper is very excited and jumpy. after being leashed he repeatedly bit at the lead until i took it off
on the way to and from the run

8/22 Panting, pawing at kennel door and hopping on hind legs when approached, did not redirect with treats
and rushed out quickly once leashed with tight leash going out to runs. Same behavior going out to bring him back in and
this time I entered run and walked with him to wait for him to calm down. Was jumping up, zoomies around me and scaling
benches before standing next to me with wiggly body still enough to leash. Tight leash back inside.

8/23 Approahing kennel, Copper was leaned against the kennel door. Upon entering he leaned against me and became
excited and jumpy. He leaned on me while jumping and started to lick me.

8/24 Copper was panting, jumping up and very overaroused, had painted in his kennel and soiled his cone.
Walked with semi-loose leash; bouncy walk, tail curled over his back and open mouth next to me, but was still high energy
after spending time in run, jumping up on me as I entered run and mouthy. Tossed tennis ball for him a couple times and he
ran after it and would run back with it, but eventually tired and stood still while I leashed and walked back inside with loose
leash.

Fabio was quietly laying on his bed in his kennel. I asked him if he wanted to go outside, he got up and started wagging his tail. He was easy to leash and walked fine with me to the yard. Once outside, he enjoyed exploring the yard and taking snacks, gently from me. I was sad to see that this boy has been at the shelter for 29 days! He was a laid back boy for me.

8/15 In the back of the kennel as i leash him he started pulling back. Imuzzle and carry into a new kennel

8/19 Approaching kennel, dog has wiggly body, tippy tapping, and being vocal. I easily leashed him, friendly, and allowed me
to pet. Walks well on the leash.

8/20 Hank was a move adopt this monring from eval. An ACT had walk him to his kennel and when I walk back into the row,
notice Hank has been vocal through out the cleaning. Hank has a tense bdoy, dilated eyes and a tight O shape mouth. Will
be placing a cover and will monitor.

8/23 Approaching kennel Hank is standing by the kennel door with ears perked up, tail wagging, and lip licking. When walking
other dogs down the row Hank vocalizes/ forward barks at them with a tense body. On the leash Hank holds a tight leash,
tense body and perked ears.

During pm walk hank began fence fighting with dogs as we walked down the row, he began unprovoked towards puppies
standing in front of the kennel door he lunged and latched onto the kennel door trying to shake his head and began to pull
back as I tossed treats and tugged on leash he kept going towards the puppies. He began to do this to every dog walking
down row. As I walked a dog pass his his kennel he lunged at door and began to bite kennel door pulling back at door. I re
covered and he has benn quiet since.
