🚨 School Threat 🚨

Update 11:00 PM: GPD School Resource Officers and Detectives continued working diligently on this case throughout the day. Their investigation resulted in the identification and arrest of two additional juvenile suspects in connection with the school threat.

Update 1:00 PM: The suspect in this case has been identified and arrested. Due to the suspect’s status as a juvenile, we cannot release any further identifying information about them. We believe the suspect acted alone and have no reason believe there is a credible threat towards the school at this time. Again, thank you for your help and communication.

We are aware of threats involving Northridge High School that have been circulating on social media today. We are working closely with the FBI, our School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit, District 6, and D6 Security to identify the source of the threat.

Out of an abundance of caution, classes today at Northridge have been cancelled. If you see this social media post/threat, please DO NOT continue to share it. We are aware of the threat and do not wish to incite more panic.

Making threats is a criminal offense and the person(s) originating this social media post will face felony prosecution once identified.

THANK YOU 🙏 to the literal dozens of you that DM’d and tagged us in posts, and the others that called the PD directly. It aided in quickly launching an investigation and taking safety precautions for the safety of the students.

CANCELAN CLASES EN NORTHRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL DE GREELEY DEBIDO A AMENAZA

UPDATE 09/09/2024 at 1:45 p.m.

Dear District 6 Families:

This is an update on the situation at Northridge High School. The person suspected of posting the original threat was arrested and taken into custody today. They face criminal felony charges and possible expulsion. We will continue to work with Greeley Police on this investigation.

This potential threat was only directed at Northridge High School. No other school was mentioned or involved.

We once again want to remind you of the seriousness of this situation. It is a felony crime to make a threat against a school, even if that threat is false or not meant to be serious. We take this very seriously. We encourage you to have a conversation with your student about the seriousness of such actions.

Northridge will have school tomorrow on a normal schedule. We will have additional security at the school, and our District 6 Crisis Team will be available to provide counseling services to any student or staff who may need support. Students in schools outside Northridge can contact their school’s counseling office if they need assistance.

Again, if you or your student sees a post that contains a threat or hears information about a potential threat, please contact law enforcement or Safe2Tell at 1-877-542-SAFE (7233).

School is canceled today September 9, 2024. We are aware of a potential threat against our school that is circulating on social media. We are working with federal and local police, but they have not been able to locate the person who posted this threat. Without knowing the origin of the threat, we must cancel school out of an abundance of caution. We regret having to make this decision.

We take any threat against our school very seriously, and we are taking advanced security measures at the school today and will continue as needed.

The safety and security of our students and staff is always our first priority. Anyone making a threat against a school, even if it is false or meant to be a joke, will face felony criminal charges and serious disciplinary action from the school. If you see this post, PLEASE DO NOT SHARE IT! Also, take a few minutes to talk with your children about the seriousness of making threats and the possible consequences that could result. If your child or you hear of any threat against a school or a person, please call the police immediately at 9-1-1 or call the Safe2Tell line at 1-877-542-SAFE (7233).

The National Weather Service has placed Greeley under a flood watch until 11:00 p.m., August 13. Remember, a "watch" means that while there isn't currently any major flooding, the forecasted conditions show it's a possibility, and we want you to be alert and exercise caution. We encourage you to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

If flooding occurs, do not walk or drive through moving water or flooded areas. As little as six inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle and can pose a drowning risk. Stay safe out there, Greeley!
