Heading out to the TC D**e tonight! Lots of bull reds been coming by! I’ll let y’all know how we do.

My apologies for not providing any updates these past couple of days. We've been fishing non-stop, trying to catch some bull reds. I now have some time, so let me bring you up to speed.

On October 4th, we headed to the Surfside jetty. It turned out to be a challenging day with no catches. We spent most of our time seeking shelter from the rain rather than fishing.

On October 5th, we decided to try our luck at the Galveston fishing pier on 91st. We fished from about 6 am to 10 pm. It was a slightly better day, with around seven reds being caught, though unfortunately none of them were on our lines.

We're currently on our way to Freeport, hoping to have better luck at Surfside. I'll be sure to provide a report once we're finished up here! Remember to follow to stay in the loop. Tight lines! 🎣

They were slightly hungry… 10-01-23. We decided to go kayak fishing in Freeport, TX. With high winds out of the east (16-20 mph) and an extremely high tide, the marsh was flooded, making it very difficult to locate reds to sight cast. Eventually, I went back to the bayou and soaked a finger mullet along the oyster. That's when I finally got hooked up on a decent slot red. Tough day of fishing overall!

Busted out the kayaks! I’ll lyk how it goes

Today's report, 09-25-23: Despite ongoing forecasts of red tide in the area, we decided to give the Surfside jetty another shot. Turns out, you can still reel in a good catch! We spent our morning near the end of the jetty and landed over 20 mangrove snapper, along with one slot red. Other anglers had success too, scoring snapper and a handful of Spanish mackerel, plus one more slot red. The snapper bite was nothing short of phenomenal, with a few other catches sprinkled in. All my fish were hooked on artificial shrimp and a bait fish imitation.

One important note, the 'red tide' toxin was still in the salt spray and it did irritate our lungs, though it was bearable. Wishing the best of luck to anyone heading out to the jetty! Be sure to follow & Stay tuned for more reports.

Here’s an updated look at the Red Tide (toxic algae bloom) water samples from 09-16-2023 to 09-23-2023. It appears that it’s heading farther down south, away from the Galveston Bay complex. Surfside & Quintana jetties are still looking pretty rough. I haven’t been fishing over the weekend but will check out the Galveston area tomorrow. Good luck out there, and be sure to follow for more updates here along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Sep 20, 2023, we started at the Surfside jetties but had to leave due to a red tide and poor fishing conditions. We then went to the Texas City D**e where I caught some nice mangrove snapper, a decent-sized Croaker, and a good-sized black drum using free-lined shrimp. The fishing was alright, and we got a couple of keepers for dinner. Be sure to follow & Stay tuned for more reports!
