Drier weather moves in today across the northwest half of the area with slightly cooler but still above normal temperatures, although a bit of high level smoke moves in with it leading to some hazy conditions. Otherwise, skies will be mostly sunny for most areas. Scattered showers or storms remain possible along the central and southern Divide Mountains this afternoon, with gusty winds and lightning the main threats. Drier weather encompasses the rest of the area Friday into the weekend with continued warm above normal temperatures.

Don't mind us...we are replacing parts on the tower and should be back to normal in just a bit. Thank you for your patience!

A cold front will move through this afternoon and evening, firing off showers and thunderstorms ahead of it. Storms will favor areas along and north of I-70 this afternoon. Some storms could be strong to severe, and capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail. The heavy rain threat will be limited, although a brief heavy downpour is not out of the question. Drier air moves in tonight in the wake of the front, although moisture and storm chances will linger along the Divide. Dry weather returns for the latter half of the week with near to slightly above seasonable temperatures.

As a reminder, our front office will be closed today so we can enjoy some time off. We'll see you tomorrow!

With drier air in place, today will once again be mostly sunny. Temperatures warm to around 5 degrees above normal for mid-August. Moisture is expected to make a return starting tomorrow, with cooler temperatures and increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend and into early next week.

Help us make Back to School safe. Be aware of reduced speeds in school zones and school bus stops.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will redevelop this afternoon with gusty outflow winds, small hail, and frequent lightning possible. Additionally, heavy rain rates with storms will bring an enhanced threat of flash flooding and debris flows although this appears more localized today. Saturated soils and steep terrain will be most susceptible to flooding. There is the potential that lingering clouds this morning will impact the overall intensity and coverage of storms later in the day. Regardless, stay weather aware today and be sure to stay tuned to the latest forecast for any watches, warnings and advisories! Storm coverage and heavy rain potential increases on Tuesday as a low pressure trough moves through. Temperatures will remain near to several degrees below normal the next few days.

Our children will soon be back in classrooms, with many walking or biking to school. Let’s ensure their safety. We’re asking all drivers to follow speed limits and be extra cautious. Let’s all come together and keep our students safe by abiding by crossing guards’ directions and school zone timers.

📚Back to School Monday, August 12th! ✏️
Use caution in school zones! Slower speed limit zones help drivers respond to students who will be walking, biking and skateboarding to school.

Althea came in with her mom to donate cat food to the shelter. She and one of her friends put a donation box at their school. They will be having it out for the whole year. The school is Mancos Elementary. We took a photo opportunity and she is holding Miss Biscuit. Shout out to these wonder animal advocates!

Another active day is expected as monsoon moisture fuels widespread showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Storms will once again be capable of producing heavy rain which will lead to increased potential for flooding and flash flooding. Flood Watches have been issued for portions of the forecast area from 2 to 10 PM today! Stay weather aware!

08/10/2024

Another active day is in store as monsoonal moisture remains over the region. Expect scattered to widespread coverage of storms with heavy rain and localized flash flooding possible in stronger storms. This active, wet period looks to last through early next week.
