Make it back to Colorado Springs last night and overnighted at Bass Pro Shop. It will be our last night in the RV for awhile as we need to lower our expenses and work on selling the Prowler and finding a cheaper truck, and we want Aiden to get some more time around kids. We will hopefully be headed back to Arizona in December, but there won’t be a lot from The Austins Travel for awhile 😢

We do have an episode or two to still release, so I’ll get to work on those!

It’s been a fun past 24 hours as we started having truck issues in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming in 95+ degree heat and zero cell reception…

Stayed overnight in an RV park in Lusk, Wyoming (pop 1500) last night and slowly towed down to Cheyenne, WY today. Sitting at a truck stop waiting for a mobile diesel tech and hoping for not terrible news 🤞

The Xscapers event is over and most of the rigs have cleared out, so time to shift back into work mode. I’m very fortunate in that I have a job where I can work anywhere that I have internet signal! It makes it much easier to shift back into work when I still have beautiful views for the week 😁

(yes the windows are dirty because Aiden loves to “clean” them which really just smudges them 🤣)

We went on a 2-mile hike in Spearfish Canyon with some friends from Xscapers and enjoyed a small waterfall at the end. Aiden was proud to hike the trails on his own!

It’s been a fun few days so far at the Xscapers 4th of July convergence! We participated in the scavenger hunt around Sturgis on Sunday and made a drive over to Devil’s Tower in Wyoming yesterday!

We’re supposed to get some heavy thunderstorms today, but the 4th festivities kick off this evening, weather permitting 🤞Lauren and I really haven’t been able to catch any fireworks since Aiden was born, so hoping we’ll get to view them as a family this week 😁

Views for the week! We LOVE the Black Hills of South Dakota! We’re overlooking Sturgis, which is best known for the motorcycle rally, but are very close to Deadwood, Lead, and Spearfish!

We share our initial steps towards homesteading in West Virginia, only to have unforeseen events force us to pivot quickly. With resilience and a spirit of adventure, we decide to hit the road again, continuing our RV travels but maybe not in the our original RV....

It didn't really get picked up in this video, but perhaps we'll share more in the future about the cross roads we've been on as Lauren REALLY wants to settle down to Homestead while Shaun still very much has the travel bug and desire for life on the road in an RV.

Today was a tough day in the Wolfe household (Lauren’s Maiden name) as Lauren and her Dad had to put Sully dog down - their beloved 12+ year old Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Lauren’s Dad Jerry is one of the nicest, most authentic men you will ever meet in your life and he LOVED Sully. We often joked that in the pecking order, Sully came first, Zach his other dog came second, and Lauren was a distant third.

When I first met Lauren, Sully was the dog that had her heart! Every time she went to the bathroom, Sully would follow her in and rest his head on her lap to soak up uninterrupted pets. He would sneak down to her bedroom in the basement any chance he could because he loved being with her. He would nibble on her chin as his way of effectionately giving her kisses.

Sully dog was a good dog.

He had the most expressive eyes you’ve ever seen in your life, and one thing about Ridgebacks is they are notoriously stubborn. If you hurt his feelings or asked him to do something he didn’t want to do, he would turn his back to you and slowly look at you over his shoulder to show you who was in charge.

It’s what caused us to coin the phrase, “A Sully dog gets what a Sully dog wants!”

Rest in peace Sully, you were an amazing dog and we’re all sad you’re gone.

We're finally getting around to releasing some footage from getting ready to head east for the holidays. We'll hopefully get caught up close to real time in the next few weeks as we really did not film much between November and March as we've been off the road for the most part.

3 Days. 1734 miles. 30 hours of driving (we have to go below the speed limit towing). Over 192 gallons of diesel - YIKES!

We have arrived back in our home state of Colorado and it's great to be back! We'll be here a few months taking care of some things but are excited to get back out on the road later this summer 😁

Aiden had so much fun reuniting with his friends Annie & Heston! It was great to visit with friends again that we met in Bryce Canyon last year. Hopefully they can bring Annie and Heston out for a trip later this year.

We drove as long as Shaun could keep his eyes open and we ended up in a Cracker Barrel parking lot in Colombia, MO.

We have about 10 hrs of driving left today which we may have to finish all in one day - we’ll see

We left our AirBnB in West Virginia at 2:30 in the afternoon on our way to Colorado. Finally pulled into this WalMart at 2 am.

The good news is we have a short two hour drive today to our first stop in Illinois to see Annie & Heston (and Chuck & Dawn 😁)!

These were the two horses Aiden fell in love with in Bryce Canyon and why he now calls ALL horses 🐎 Annie!

We're coming out of "retirement"! Sorry we've been MIA but YouTube got to the point where it was taking too much time away from us as a family and it was putting too much pressure on Lauren to be on Aiden-duty while Shaun worked and edited. We still like sharing our journey though and looking back on these memories. We won't be posting weekly, but will occasionally release videos that highlight some of the things we are doing.

UPDATE: After about 17 hours she found her way back onto the property! She is safe and asleep next to me. I doubt she slept much during the night with temps around 33 degrees and very wet terrain, and who knows how far she walked as she could barely walk when she got back in the house. But she is safe and back!

I've searched as much as I can in the woods around the house and driving the roads in the area. Unfortunately, its a lot of steep hillsides in a mountainous area. Will be printing and posting these everywhere I can around the area, but I appreciate if you could share this as well. You never know who you know that might have a connection on the Lewisburg area of West Virginia (we are in Ronceverte at the moment)

We've had A LOT going on the last week and are now in the middle of a cross country trip while balancing work and drive days. We have to cover 1300 miles and 8 states this week to head east for the holidays and Shaun has a heavier workload on top of the drive days.

We will not have a new episode today, but hope to resume next week if Shaun can find the hours to edit. We hope you'll pick back up with us in Steamboat Springs next time!

For the THIRD time this year, we had to pack up abruptly mid-week to leave a boondocking spot! This time, because of some uninvited guests that showed up at camp.

We decided to use a "fun" little sub-story to go along with the main storyline, and don't worry, it has a happy ending!

We thoroughly enjoy the campsite reviews that Kyle and Michelle have put together and we’ll be using this tool as we head to Arizona!

As the temperatures start to cool in the northern half of the country, many of us "snowbirds" start heading south to warmer temps. Michelle and I wanted to just remind everyone of the free interactive map that we have created showing all of our campsite reviews as well as things to do while in the area. We hit 400 subscribes on YouTube today!!! Whoo hoo! It's hard to imagine that based on our video analytics, 300-500 people watch our videos every week! We are beyond thankful and grateful for those of you that do 😀

However, the average viewer still drops off after only a couple of minutes and there is only so much the analytics can tell us. We'd LOVE to hear from you if you'd be willing to provide some constructive feedback! What have you liked? What do you not like? What causes you to tune out?
