So heartbreaking 💔🙏🏾
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Lake County Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell, on behalf of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, announces the passing of one of our own. Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link died in the line of duty overnight heroically serving his community and fellow deputies after responding to a disturbance call in the northeast portion of our county in rural Eustis, during which two other deputies were also shot.
Master Deputy Link, 28, first became part of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office as a young Explorer. A graduate of Lake Minneola High School, he served in the Army Reserves prior to being hired as a deputy sheriff by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 2017. In October 2019, Master Deputy Link joined our agency as a deputy sheriff, where he quickly became part of our family and faithfully served our citizens with courage and zeal. Brad, as our Sheriff’s Office family knew him, touched the lives of all who were blessed enough to work with him; his contributions and the impact of this loss will not soon be forgotten.
Prayers for Master Deputy Link’s wife, Brittney, and his parents, Christi and Daniel, as well as for our agency and the community he so faithfully served are greatly appreciated during this time of tremendous loss.
Thinking of these deputies and their families 🙏🏾so heartbreaking.
On behalf of Sheriff Carmine Marceno, The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is grieving with our brothers and sisters of Lake County Sheriff's Office - Florida this morning following the loss of one of their own. We stand with them as they navigate the coming days and weeks ahead. Sending prayers and positive thoughts of healing for the two deputies also shot in the line of duty protecting their community.
Rest easy. We’ve got the watch from here.
Sandbags will be available this morning in Collier County.
On Saturday Aug. 3 starting at 8 AM, sand, empty sandbags and some shovels will be available at two parks for those interested in obtaining sandbags. The sand is available at North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples, FL 34109 in the Sun-N-Fun Lagoon parking lot and at Donna Fiala Eagles Lakes Community Park, 11565 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34113.
You may bring your own shovel and/or trowel since shovels are limited. There is a limit of 10 bags per person. Once the 10,000 sandbags and 120 tons of sand (60 tons at each of the two park locations listed above) are gone the program will end.
The sandbags are self-service and on a first-come, first-served basis. Sand and bags are available from 8 AM to 7 PM, supplies and weather permitting.
Sandbags, when properly filled and placed, may divert water around instead of through buildings. Sandbag construction does not guarantee a watertight seal but is satisfactory for use in most situations. Burlap sacks and plastic sandbags (polypropylene) are standard types to use. Garbage bags are not recommended since they are too slick to stack.
