"I would say 90-plus percent of the brands that we're bringing in here, I feel very confident ... that they are treating their workers fairly, and they're making a fair wage," Addie & Grace owner Jennifer Graham said. "And that the items are not made with carcinogenic chemicals and fumes and things that expose these workers to really, really bad stuff."

Addie & Grace, the chic new women and children's clothing boutique at the Essex Experience, began the way so many ventures do — with an...

"The most important thing for kids is, we want it to be really high waterproof," Xiaonan "Claire" Zhu said. Instead of adding an abundance of pockets she didn't think kids would use, she chose to "put all the money into the quality of the fabric and insulation," she said.

When Xiaonan "Claire" Zhu started her own children's outerwear company last year — dubbed Hootie Hoo — she set out to create clothing that was...

For more than 30 years, Fernandez has been teaching students how to fall down safely — then get back up again. As the founder and owner of Vermont Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he's taught hundreds of children as young as 4 how to defend themselves and subdue an opponent using techniques that don't require superior size, strength or speed.

Julio César Fernandez Nunes has traded kicks, leg locks and choke holds with some of the world's fiercest Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighters. But on a steamy...
