"But more relevant to their demise as city employees, Bruner-Settles and Davis had accepted campaign contributions from critics of Mayor Brandon Scott and were perceived as allies of his primary opponent, former Mayor Sheila Dixon."

After Brandon Scott prevailed in the Baltimore mayoral primary over Sheila Dixon, those in city government perceived as enemies, or too close to enemies, were sent packing.

"That contract also stated she "shall devote her entire professional time and effort to her service as commissioner of health, and she agrees that she will not engage in any outside paid or unpaid employment or undertake any other service, except as may be approved and authorized in advance and in writing by the mayor.""

"Prior to her work in the city, Emenuga served in a variety of roles including medical director for Chase Brexton Health Care.

When we inquired about her employment status a spokesperson told us they're not making any public comments while there is an ongoing investigation.

It's unclear whether she was still working there when she was commissioner, but their website lists her as a staff physician.

We found her possible work at Chase Brexton may have been in violation of city ethics laws.

On July 24 of this year, the city approved a contract for $54,207 for Chase Brexton to increase health literacy and HIV testing.

Prior to Emenuga's hiring, a contract in May 2023 was approved with Chase Brexton and two other contracts with the health care facility were approved in 2022."

It was just last week Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr.Ihuoma Emenuga was abruptly fired.A source of our partners at the Baltimore Sun said Emenuga was let

The Baltimore Police Department is seeking $8.35 million for new uniforms and tailoring services, a cost significantly higher than previous contracts. This increase, spread over three years, comes despite a reduction in the number of officers. Contributing factors include inflation and policy changes emphasizing visible uniforms over plainclothes attire. The department selected Galls LLC as the uniform supplier, moving away from traditional Baltimore clothiers. This decision and the funding are part of broader budget considerations, which did not fully meet all requested increases for other city departments.

A Kentucky company is set to become the department’s uniform supplier in a deal that’s five-to-seven times more expensive than previous contracts.

The Baltimore Ravens organization recently held a volunteer day to renovate and refurbish Morrell Park Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore. Around 150 volunteers, including players, staff, and partners, participated in the event. They built a state-of-the-art playground, assembled tables, and painted various areas of the school. This initiative is part of the Ravens' ongoing community outreach efforts to support local education and youth development. The project was a collaboration with Kaboom!, Heart of America, and the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, funded by the Ravens Foundation.

It may be the offseason, but the Baltimore Ravens are still hard at work. The team is taking on a volunteer project to renovate a historic school in Baltimore.

With all the hype surrounding the Harobr being "swimmable" and having lived in Baltimore for 40+ years, I know how this city works and there's usually a larger story behind the scenes.

I'm glad to see that finally something is being done to clean the water in this city, but it's still a long road ahead.

Baltimore City has a very long history with water polution. I was only able to go back as far as 1999. So if you want to go down that rabbit hole with me, below are some links to get you started.
