Greetings!

A Black woman woke up one morning to see that another Black woman had chosen to unalive herself due to the bullying she received at the hands of a white man at her institution. Another had been forced to resign from her position because she clarified the definition of white privilege.

The stories were becoming so plentiful they ran together in a manner similar to when folks would attempt to tell you about another Black person who had been killed by police – “not that one – another one.”

The Black woman cried while lamenting that she knew she had been called to create a space for Black women to be seen, witnessed, heard. She realized that because she herself had been mentally and physically harmed at the hands of a PWI, the silence had become deafening.

The pain unbearable. Her expression of said pain made her more toxic then positive. Until she began to focus on her healing and self-care.

Eventually she realized she is meant to support Black women in expressing and experiencing healing, and to support white women in their learning and allyship.

Her first step is happening this Saturday, May 18 vis-à-vis Healing Black Women at PWIs

It’s me. I am the Black woman I am writing about. And I am asking for your support.

If you are not a Black woman and want to support, you can:
• share with your networks
• make a donation via the event page
• ask your network to do the same.
This is a big step of vulnerability. But I believe in this work and in my capacity to facilitate support and help for other Black women.
After the conference, I will be sharing what other programs will be happening for Black women, and announcing when the next Heeey White Girls! Let’s Talk workshop will be occurring.
Thank you for your support.

I am launching Healing black Women at PWI's because my voice was silenced, and I know it's not my only mine. I see so many Black women, whether they live with neurodivergency, disability, mental illness, trauma, or simply being Black in America and other parts of the western world suffer doubly. After a moment in which I felt I represented us as Black women, my voice was squashed because it revealed the truth of what many predominantly white institutions do to and through Black women and people. Respectability politics was often challenging for my spirit, which would hyper-focus on justice to the point of alienating others However, the situation doesn't end there. The alienation and dehumanzation creates the type of environment that allows for the vitriol that Amanda Seales, Mo’Nique, and so many other Black women who are not considered palatable receive.
But there is power in a voice. There is power in our tone. Our certainty, our surety. Whether voiced or not, even our silence is loud. As soon as we walk into the room, some are offended. Many are intimidated. No more.
Almost every single time I have been in space for Black women at local, regional and national conferences, non-Black women have entered this space to do research, professional development, listen and learn. Whereas our existence, our mere existence, is worthy of museum exhibits, it is because. Our stories are not to be observed, merely looked upon as if we are the red light district and not the ones looking at red lights in many school districts, universities, hospitals, healthcare systems. This is the case in almost every industry.
Black women are bullied in the workplace and digital spaces. Oftentimes because they “need to be humbled.” That's such an interesting concept- for people to believe that it's OK to humble a person simply because they feel like her tone warrants atonement.
Well. Black women. You won't have to atone for your voice. At Healing Black Women at PWI's.

See you May 18.
