Today we want to introduce you to Jorge Garcia, our rock star Assistant Equipment Manager! We got to know Jorge better recently with a little Q&A:

Q: How long have you worked at Cloud to Ground?
A: I started interning in the fall of 2017 and came on full-time at the start of 2018.

Q: What's a typical day like for you?
A: I’ll come in at 9 AM and immediately check my emails for any urgent requests from our office or our productions that are shooting. After that, we check in with any teams picking up or dropping off orders and make sure that the transition of items is flawless. If we don’t have any urgent orders for that day, we will be working hand in hand with Crazy Legs Productions on making any adjustments to their gear requests. Once those shows are completely satisfied with their changes, we work on cleaning, repairing, and QCing any necessary items within our inventory.

Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: I enjoy working up close with both our talented crew members and all of the new gear that comes into our system. I am always eager to learn. Having knowledgeable crew members teach us even the most simple tips and tricks is always beneficial. I am privileged to access some of the most remarkable camera and lighting equipment at my disposal. Having to learn the ins and outs of all the gear in our inventory is something I don’t think I would ever be able to do if I worked outside of a rental house.

Q: What is your favorite part about being on a set?
A: I really enjoy getting to work with the DPs. They’re some of the most skilled and knowledgeable people in this industry, and working alongside them to fulfill their vision is always rewarding.

Q: Favorite TV show:
A: My favorite TV show is The Office. I have watched the show in its entirety over 10 times. Since last year, I figured it was time to take a break from rewatching and get into some other shows. Some of my recent favorites have been Succession, Demon Slayer, and Insecure.

Q: Did you pick up any new hobbies during the pandemic?
A: I wouldn’t necessarily call it a hobby, but because everything shut down for a while and I needed a haircut, I bought a hair clipper and learned how to cut my own hair. I wouldn’t say they’ve been good haircuts, but they haven’t been bad enough for someone to notice, haha.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Atlanta:
A: I have phases depending on the weather for my favorite meals/restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants is Food Terminal. I’ve been enjoying their braised beef noodle soup a ton during the cold months. Some of my other favorites include Zunzi’s and B&L Wings.

Q: What makes Atlanta a great place to live and work?
A: Atlanta offers a beautiful demographic of cultures not only with the people but with the restaurants and activities happening across the city. Several prominent sports teams boast incredibly supportive fans, even when they’re bad ;). Finally, the city has one of the highest job growth rates in the country, especially within our industry.

Q: What makes Cloud to Ground the best facility of its kind?
A: Cloud to Ground is a small team that allows us to work more hands-on with our clients and ensure we are their one-stop shop. We make sure that any additional request is always taken care of before, during, and/or after the shoot.

Today we want to introduce you to our fab Director of Post Production, Hailey Heins. We got to know her better recently with a little Q&A:

Q: What made you want to join the company?
A: I joined Crazy Legs originally in 2018 and didn't know much about the company, since I was so new to Atlanta. It didn't take long to realize that Crazy Legs is a very special company that's worked hard to push its employees to be their best both professionally and personally. Joining Crazy Legs again in 2020 was one of the happiest moments of my career, knowing I'd be rejoining such a wonderful group of people.

Q: What's a typical day like?
A: An average day starts out with a meeting with my immediate post team to go over each project, then emails and meetings.

Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: Seeing the final product! There's so much that goes into putting a production together and whether the project is big or small, getting it over the finish line, with a happy client, is always a very rewarding feeling.

Q: What makes Cloud to Ground the best company of its kind?
A: Our ability to evolve and adapt. Especially when 2020 hit with the pandemic, CTG quickly took the reins and created a remote workflow that has allowed us to thrive when times were uncertain for many companies and I feel so fortunate to be part of that process.

Q: Did you pick up any new hobbies or skills since spending more time at home due to coronavirus?
A: Planting! I never had a green thumb, so it's been exciting to have the time nurture a plant and watch it grow!

Q:Favorite TV show?
A: 30 Rock!

Q: The last book you read?
A: Wills of the Rich and Famous by Herbert E. Nass

Q: Last concert you attended?
A: It's been a while... the last concert was in California, 2016 Dave Matthews Band at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater before it was shut down.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Atlanta?
A: Fellini's! Nothing beats a good pizza.

Q: What makes Atlanta a great place to live and work?
A: The people and the versatility the city has to offer. I grew up right outside of NYC and lived in LA for 10 years, so I have a high expectation of what a city should be and Atlanta is certainly a great city, in my opinion. I find the people are welcoming, there's so much to do between the Botanical Gardens, Georgia Aquarium and getting outside for a hike or heading to a lake... it really has everything!

We are excited to welcome a new class of interns this summer, and one student in particular will be focusing on post-production. Meet Tucker Turner!
I'm Tucker, I'm 22 and am currently a senior at the University of Georgia double majoring in Entertainment and Media Studies and Theatre with a desire to pursue post-production. I first became interested in post through Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job! (my favorite show of all time) and Takahiro Morita, one of the most unique and influential skateboard cinematographers I know of. Apart from post, I really enjoy playing the guitar mediocrely and getting steamrolled in chess!
