The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced the establishment of hemodialysis and cancer care units in the OFW Hospital to help OFWs and their dependents. Said by Hospital Chief Ralph Julius Mendoza during the 15th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency.

"We are working on expanding the services of the hospital to turn it into a cancer specialty hospital," the DMW said.

“We aspire to be the nation’s leading institution in migrant occupational health, setting the standard for excellence in medical services, training and research dedicated to our OFWs,” he added.

The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Hospital is located in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga and is the first and only hospital in the Philippines that provides comprehensive medical services to OFWs and their dependents.

MT. KANLAON NAGDULOT NA NG 200 LINDOL, MGA RESIDENTE PINALILIKAS NA

Pinalilikas na ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Canlaon City, Negros Oriental ang mga mamamayan sa loob ng 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone sa paligid ng Mt. Kanlaon matapos makapagtala ng mahigit 200 lindol.

Ayon sa Executive Order No. 63, series of 2024 na inanunsyo ni Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas ngayong araw, kailangan nang isagawa ang mandatory evacuation upang hindi malagay sa peligro ang buhay ng mga mamamayan.

Batay sa ulat ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), ang sunud-sunod na pagyanig ng lupa ay nagsimula noong 10:35 ng gabi, kahapon.

Samatantala, pinaalalahanan naman ng PHIVOLCS ang publiko na iwasan ang Permanent Danger Zone upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan. Dagdag pa nila, ang mga eroplano ay pinapayuhang umiwas sa paligid ng bulkan.

PBBM SA DICT: UNAHIN ANG MAS MABILIS NA KONEKSYON SA MGA LIBLIB NA LUGAR

Inutusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bong Bong’ Marcos Jr. ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na gawing prayoridad ang pagpapabilis ng ‘connectivity’ sa mga malalayo at liblib na lugar sa bansa, kahapon, Setyembre 9, 2024.

Ibinababa ang direktiba sa gitna ng sectoral meeting tungkol sa National Digital Connectivity Plan (NDCP) 2024-2028 sa Malacañang.

Iminungkahi rin ng pangulo na simulan na ang mga proyektong magpapabilis ng koneksyon upang makapag tayo na ng gobyerno ng mga free WiFi stations.

Kamakailan lamang ay inaprubahan ni Marcos ang USD288 milyong Philippine Digital Infrastructure Project, na ayon sa DICT, ay naglalayong magbigay ng high-speed Internet connection kahit sa mga lugar na kapus-palad.

Nakaraang Hulyo, naitala ng DICT na mayroon nang 13,462 free WiFi sites sa 1,401 na lugar sa buong kapuluan.

Maroon 5, muling babalik sa Maynila para sa konsiyerto sa Enero 29, 2025

Ang Maroon 5, ang American pop rock band na pinangunahan ni Adam Levine, ay babalik sa bansa upang mag-perform nang live sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Enero 29, 2025, ayon sa anunsyo ng promoter na Live Nation Asia noong Lunes.

Ang konsiyerto ay bahagi ng 2025 Asia tour ng banda, na may kasamang mga stops sa Japan, Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur, Thailand, at Taiwan.

Ang Maroon 5 ay huling nagdaos ng konsiyerto sa Pilipinas noong 2022; nag-perform din sila dito noong 2019.

Maaaring masuspinde ang mga hindi rehistradong online na Negosyo, ayon sa BIR.

Ang mga online na negosyo na hindi rehistrado sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ay maaaring masuspinde, ayon sa ahensya noong Lunes.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng BIR na ayon sa kanilang Revenue Regulations No. 15-2024, maaaring ipasara ang operasyon ng negosyo sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalabas ng closure o take-down order.

Para sa mga online na negosyo, maaaring gawin ito sa pamamagitan ng pagtanggal sa website, webpage, account, platform, o app na ginagamit para magbenta ng mga produkto.

Hindi rin nito pinipigilan ang BIR sa paghahain ng kaso ng pag-iwas sa buwis laban sa mga negosyong hindi sumusunod, sa ilalim ng kanilang Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program.

Dagdag pa rito, sinabi ng BIR na dapat tiyakin ng mga online marketplaces na ang lahat ng kanilang mga lessees at nagbebenta ay rehistrado nang tama sa BIR. Ang pagkabigong gawin ito ay ituturing na pagtulong o pagkunsinti sa paglabag.

"We will be monitoring digital platforms and e-marketplace platforms like Lazada, Shopee, and Tiktok to check if their online sellers and content creators are compliant with BIR registration," BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui ayon sa aniyang statement.

Gayunpaman, binigyang-diin ng ahensya ng buwis na gagawin din nila ito sa mga pisikal na tindahan.

Sa kaso ng mga pisikal na retail na tindahan, ang pagpapalabas ng closure o take-down order ay nangangahulugang isasara ang kanilang mga tindahan at suselyuhan ng kandado at selyo ng BIR.

Pinagtibay ng BIR na ang Revenue Regulations No. 15-2024 ay nagpapantay ng kondisyon sa pagitan ng online at pisikal na tindahan sa pamamagitan ng patas na regulasyon at pantay na pagbubuwis.

Binigyang-diin din ng BIR na ayon sa Internet Transactions Act of 2023, ang mga online na negosyo ay kailangang nakarehistro sa BIR at magbayad ng buwis upang magtayo ng tiwala sa e-commerce at protektahan ang interes ng mga mamimili.

On September 3, as part of the 79th Victory Day celebration at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center, 44 Filipino World War II veterans were honored for their heroism.

Among the 44 awardees, 11 are still living, with 99-year-old Sergeant Eumelia Cacanindin being the only surviving veteran present to receive her award in person.

These awards recognize the bravery of Filipinos who fought alongside American troops from July 1941 to December 1946.

"The US Congressional Gold Medal is a distinguished award where the United States recognizes, and we hope, the conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life. An award for the courage and valor of our veterans," Baguio City Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda said in her testimonial message. Her late father and war veteran Major Alfredo Fernandez Flores was also among the awardees during the ceremony.

Dati nang kwalipikado si Otom para sa 50m backstroke finals ngunit nagtapos sa ika-anim. Nagpahayag ng optimismo ang kanyang coach, si Tony Ong, hinggil sa kanyang mga susunod na performances, na binibigyang-diin ang kanyang tibay at potensyal para sa susunod na Paralympics.

Naglabas na ang BSP ng mga detalye tungkol sa pag-ikot ng Piso Caravan Program sa kanilang opisyal na page. Kasama sa mga bibisitahing lugar ang ilang bayan sa Pangasinan, Mountain Province, La Union, Samar, Ifugao, at Abra.

Ang Piso Caravan ay naglalayon na alisin sa sirkulasyon ang mga unfit at mutilated na pera na hawak ng mga mamamayang Pilipino. Hinihikayat ng BSP ang publiko na ibalik ang mga ganitong klase ng pera sa bangko sa pamamagitan ng Piso Caravan.

Ito ay dulot ng pagguho ng lupa sa nasabing kalsada, na sanhi ng paglambot ng pundasyon pagkatapos ng pag-ulan at pagtaas ng water level ng Bued River.

Mahigpit na ipinapatupad ang pagbabawal sa pagdaan ng anumang uri ng sasakyan sa lugar. Pinapayuhan ang mga motorista na gumamit ng ibang alternatibong ruta pansamantala.

Inaasahan ng DPWH at lokal na pamahalaan ng Benguet ang kooperasyon ng mga residente habang aktibong kumikilos ang Barangay Emergency Response Team upang asikasuhin ang sitwasyon sa lugar.

The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-CAR) successfully concluded a month-long anti-drug campaign in August, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs valued at over P60 million and the arrest of 32 drug suspects.

The region-wide anti-drug operations, as reported by the Regional Operations Division, included 61 ma*****na eradication efforts and 12 buy-bust operations.

Among the 32 drug personalities apprehended, 15 were classified as High Value Individuals, while the other 17 were identified as Street Level Individuals.

OVP EXTENDS AID TO FLOOD-AFFECTED FAMILIES FROM RIZAL

Over 600 flood-hit families from Antipolo City and Taytay, Rizal received help and assistance from the Office of the Vice President on Friday, following the exit of Severe Tropical Storm Enteng.

In a news release, the OVP comments, “Through the OVP’s Disaster Operations Center (DOC), close to 600 families were given assistance during the agency’s simultaneous relief operations along different evacuation centers,”

“Aside from relief boxes, more than 1,800 canned goods were also given to affected residents in Antipolo,” OVP added.

There are 451 families staying in eight evacuation centers located in Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo, and 141 families who have been displaced at the Exodus Elementary School and the Bagong Pag-asa daycare center in Taytay.

HOUSE PLEDGES SUPPORT TO PBBM IN LOWERING FOOD COSTS

On Friday, September 6, 2024, the House of Representatives promised to carry out its duties in making laws and keeping an eye on things to support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in lowering food prices.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez commented on the drop in the inflation rate, which fell to 3.3 percent in August. This is a decrease of 1.1 percent from July's rate of 4.4 percent.

“We will help the President by approving pieces of legislation and exercising our oversight power to keep prices down, untangle bottlenecks in the distribution chain that push prices up and to expose abusive practices like hoarding and price manipulation,” Romualdez said.

According to National Statistician Dennis Mapa, the decline in overall inflation observed in August can be attributed mainly to the reduced annual increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which fell to 3.9 percent from 6.4 percent in July.

AGRI DAMAGE DUE TO ENTENG SPIKES TO P659-M

The Department of Agriculture - Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DA-DRRM) Operations Center on Friday, reports that Enteng leaves P659-M worth of damage in agriculture after its onslaught this week.

The report is based on the agency’s Bulletin No. 4 citing that the volume loss nearly increased twofold, reaching 28,788 metric tons (MT) valued at PHP659.01 million, compared to the previous volume loss of 15,205 MT, which was assessed at PHP360.18 million on September 4.

Furthermore, DA-DRRM added that rice production suffered the highest volume loss reaching PHP 624.06 million. According to the report, Camarines Sur incurred the hardest hit from the typhoon.

Thirty (30) last-mile schools in Antique are now included on the Department of Health's (DOH) Healthy Learning Institutions (HLI) program.

In collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), this program focuses on tackling mental health issues, preventing drug use and smoking, and enhancing overall school health.

As part of this expansion, a three-day workshop is being held for school heads and staff from the first 15 schools, with additional training scheduled for September 10-13.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently evaluating the new Next Generation (NextGen) rice varieties in Central Visayas. This assessment focuses on the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor and involves a collaborative effort with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), PhilRice, and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

The NextGen rice varieties are engineered to thrive in various ecosystems, including irrigated lowlands, rainfed lowlands, and saline-affected fields. The initiative aims to introduce and test these innovative varieties to address pest problems, ensure consistent plant growth, and ultimately boost rice yields in the region.

Umabot na sa 15 katao ang naitalang nawawala sa Bicol dahil sa malakas na bagyo. Samantala, umabot na sa 13 ang kabuuang bilang ng naiulat na patay sa Pilipinas, ayon sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) noong Huwebes.

Labing-siyam (19) naman na mangingisda ang pinaghahanap pa ng awtoridad sa Quezon Province matapos silang umalis para sa isang fishing expedition at abutan ng malakas na bagyo. Ayon kay Soronel, hindi na makontak ang mga ito mula noong Lunes. Karaniwang tumatagal ang fishing expedition ng isang buwan.

Samantala, tulong-tulong na nagsagawa ng search and rescue operation ang PCG, Philippine Air Force helicopter, Philippine National Police, at ang iba pang mangingisda sa Northern Quezon upang mahanap ang labing-siyam na nawawala.

Ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), bumaba mula 4.4% sa 3.3% ang headline inflation ng bansa nitong Agosto.

Ang inflation ng pagkain ay bumaba sa 4.2% mula 6.7% noong Hulyo, na pinangunahan ng pagbaba ng inflation sa bigas na umabot sa 14.7% mula 20.9% noong nakaraang buwan.

DOST-PAGASA NAGBABALA SA MGA LUGAR NA MAAAPEKTUHAN NG LA MESA DAM

Matapos makalabas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) ang Bagyong Enteng, patuloy pa rin ang pag-ulan sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng Pilipinas na nagdulot ng pag-apaw ng La Mesa Dam. Umabot na ito sa water level na 80.20 meters, lagpas na mula sa spilling level nitong 80.15 meters.

Nagbigay babala ang PAGASA sa mga kalapit na lugar sa Metro Manila na maaari nitong maapektuhan, partikular sa mga mabababang lugar sa kahabaan ng Tullahan River sa Quezon City.

Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo was arrested and expecting immediate return to PH

Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 4 at 1:30 AM.

According to the Bureau of Immigration, Guo was apprehended by Indonesian authorities at a hotel where she had been hiding. She is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago confirmed that the government is working with Indonesia for Guo's extradition. Based on initial plans, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil are set to travel to retrieve the dismissed mayor of Tamban.

Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo was arrested and expecting immediate return to PH Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 4 at 1:30 AM. According to the Bureau of Immigration, Guo was apprehended by Indonesian authorities at a hotel where she had been hiding. She is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri. NBI Director Jaime Santiago confirmed that the government is working with Indonesia for Guo's extradition.
