The Binisaya - Cebu International Film Festival nailed it with their BINISAYA Talks last August 23! Students, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts all joined in for a fantastic day of discussions led by visionary directors. The event was like a treasure chest of knowledge and excitement, offering insights into the festival's core and a great chance to mingle with fellow film fanatics.

Our Cinemates were captivated from start to finish. The Film Development Council of the Philippines kicked things off by sharing valuable information about their grants and services. 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘯 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵 then took the stage to discuss his journey from 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴. The day wrapped up with Ed Cabagnot’s thought-provoking talk, “𝘈𝘯𝘰 𝘣𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 '𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭?”

More than just a series of talks, it was an enriching experience that deepened our appreciation for film and left a lasting impact on all who attended.

Yesterday, Cebu Normal University was honored to host the 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙢 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 for an inspiring orientation dedicated to our 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙈𝙖𝙟𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙢 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨. The FDCP brought with them a wealth of knowledge and opportunities, discussing financial grants available to graduating students as they embark on their Film Thesis journey. This initiative not only supports our future filmmakers financially but also encourages them to create impactful stories that resonate with the Filipino experience.

The FDCP's visit highlighted the importance of nurturing local talent and fostering a sense of national pride through cinema. With
"𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲, 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨" as our guiding light, our students were inspired to continue exploring the power of film as a medium to reflect and shape our society. It was a day of learning, inspiration, and a renewed commitment to preserving and celebrating our cultural identity through the art of film.

Last August 13, 2024, marked the welcoming of CCAS freshmen students in the school year 2024-2025. The day began in Tandang Sora Hall with a warm gathering, where everyone was introduced to the faculty members of the College of Culture, Arts, and Sciences.

The freshmen gained valuable insights into the faculty and administrators as they were guided throughout their journey. The morning was filled with joy and laughter as students enjoyed engaging games and lively performances. Curiosity filled the room as each CCAS organization was introduced, with students eager to meet the new officers and fresh faces.

Outside the hall each organization set up unique booths, adding vibrancy and excitement to the event. The morning concluded with the newly appointed officers taking their Oath before faculty and freshmen, pledging their dedication and commitment to their roles. In the afternoon, a session was held featuring guest speaker Psychologist Mr. Joselito Banono. Additionally, 4th-year CCAS students answered questions from freshmen about the degree programs. The session concluded with a lively discussion, leaving the freshmen better informed and eager to begin their academic journey.
