TG bags a handful of awards during the XU-GAOT 2022

Last Wednesday, October 26, the Xavier Ateneo uni-wide general assembly and organizational trip were consummated. This year's theme was "Breakthrough: Where Dreams Come Alive," and as the theme suggests, the XU-GAOT 2022 allowed Ateneans to take a breather, mingle, and exhibit their creative abilities.

As is customary, the week-long activity was filled with vibrant laughter and excitement from umpteen gimmicks, performances, and booth competitions for and by the different XU student councils and co-curricular organizations. As such, the Teachers’ Guild approached this year’s theme with the concept of the Magis— valiant efforts, concepts, and fresh thinking so as to inject fun and creativity. With these means, the TG pulled off and came away with several awards, including Best Booth Gimmick Special Award, Pabibo-oth Special Award, Best Booth Crew Special Award, and Overall Best Booth Award.

To say the least, this unprecedented experience has engendered camaraderie while evoking the Ateneans' creative prowess. Props to the people who contributed to the success of XU-GAOT 2022, as well as the participating councils and co-curricular organizations. It was undoubtedly a GAOT to remember!

Those who stand in the bedrock of an edified society and bring knowledge into lucid pieces truly deserve selfsame recognition. Ang Giya joins in celebrating the valuable contributions of our dear teachers over the years. Achieving a better world is our collective burden, but they carry the focal key to such attainment. With their knowledge and wisdom, they deliver us from the clutches of ignorance and destitution.

In nation-building they are our fondest consorts. Happy National Teachers’ Month!

[NEWS REPORT]

Music is our mother tongue and a language we all share. The Teacher’s Guild directed another gleeful activity last February 25, 2022, via Facebook post, for the SOE students to participate in the game “Guess the Song.”

The game’s mechanics are simple: A google drive link is provided for the students to listen to and guess the song behind the given instrumental music. The participants pitch into the game by commenting the correct title of the song, and the chances of winning are high for those who answer correctly.

The songs used for “Guess the Song” were Light Switch by Charlie Puth and Save Your Tears by The Weeknd & Ariana Grande. This game inspired the students to exercise their memory and intuition and encouraged those who could not and did not want to participate in big strategic matches.

The lucky victors were Ms. Ezra Gapuz and Ms. Lorraine Ramirez. Indeed, the students had a whale of a time and were thrilled to participate in this game.

[REVIEW]

To celebrate the Educ Week of the School of Education (SOE) at Xavier University, the Teacher's Guild has drawn up a series of fun-filled activities for the SOE students to revel in. Having the theme of "4T and Beyond: Teaching Teachers Today for Tomorrow and Beyond", the celebration took place from February 21 to February 26, 2022.

On February 21, the registration process for the two EduTalk segments happened. The EduTalk webinars were divided into two parts: The EduTalk 1 was about "Sustaining the Momentum: Countering Student Block and Procrastination" with the guest speakers, Mr. Andre Robert Daba and Mr. Adrianne Rivas. This event was hosted by Ms. Sheene Lacar and Mr. Leonil Secoya last February 23 at 8:30 a.m., which lasted two or fewer hours. It aimed to inform and motivate the students to be conscious of how important it is for them to counter student block and how they are not the only ones experiencing it. Second, the goal of EduTalk 2 about "The Role of Social Media in a Technology Mediated Learning" was to educate the students on the proper and moderate way to use social media, especially since we are in an online learning set-up. The guest speakers for this EduTalk were Mr. Michael Dave Tan and Mr. Anito Librando Jr. This webinar materialized last February 25 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., as it was hosted by Mr. John Lord Emmanuel Lubguban and Mr. Vince Augustine Labiano.

The purpose of the registration process was to know the total number of students that will participate in the said event. Overall, the event started and ended successfully with 24 student participants that took part in both EduTalk 1 & EduTalk 2.

Today marks the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. It was February 22 until February 25 of the year 1986 when millions of Filipinos gathered and marched along EDSA to unite in resisting the raging violence and to campaign for regaining national peace.

The notable act paid off on the same day today, February 25, when the courage, patriotism, and sacrifices of the Filipino people resulted to the end of endurance in the adversity of dictatorship.

Together, let us celebrate the 36th Anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
