Representatives of The Hillside Echo (HSE), along with those from fifteen other publications hailing from different parts of the nation, converged for the The Spectrum Fellowship (TSF) 2024 held at Nature's Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, June 4-7.

Organized by The Spectrum - University of St. La Salle, the said annual gathering of campus journalists focused on the theme "SENTINEL: Fortress of the Free Press”, and provided journalism-centered plenary sessions and parallel talks with Kenneth Roland Guda, Brell Lacerna, Inday Espina-Varona, Avon Ang, Cartoonist Zach, Raffy Lerma, Kyle Anne Villariza, Julius De La Peña, Jade Mark Capiñanes, and Rep. During the Mr. and Ms. Fellowship 2024 held on June 6, HSE Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Ma. Estelle Antonette Vaflor, was awarded Ms. Fellowship 2024 - 1st Runner Up and Ms. Congeniality.

“Besides the fact that the staffers of The Spectrum were accommodating throughout the fellowship, the activities highlighted press freedom and responsible journalism […] It was definitely empowering to be on that stage with like-minded individuals, to speak about my advocacy, and to be able to break the stereotypes of usual pageants,” Vaflor expressed.

In addition, HSE was also nominated in the 9th Campus Press Awards in categories of Best Magazine, Best Magazine Layout, Best Newspaper, Best Newspaper Layout, Best Literary Folio, Best Editorial, and Best page.

Aside from Vaflor, HSE Associate Editor for Print, Reynan Joel Ecamina, along with HSE Adviser, Leo Art Diosep Borres, were also present to represent the publication at the said event.
