NCC RECOGNIZES AND SUPPORTS LOCAL FILM COMPANY WITH K20,000.

The film industry is a big industry in the world and generates more revenue.

That is why the PNG National Cultural Commission ( NCC) which is the government mandated agency that coodinates film productions in the country is looking into supporting and empowering local film makers in the country.

This morning, NCC presented K20,000 as and a formal certificate of recognition to a local film company, Pacific Media Solution, at the NCC headquarters in Port Moresby.

Pacific Media Solution is headed by young film maker Spensor William Wangare.

NCC's Executive Director Steven Enomb Kilanda in making the presentation, stressed on the need for partnership to boost the film industry in the country.

Mr Kilanda said NCC was happy to assist Mr Wangare and Pacific Media Solution to finalize the editing of it's feature film titled "Black Python".

"Filim industry in the country comes under NCC through National Film Institute in Goroka and the film industry has huge potential of creating employment and generate revenue for the local film makers and the country as a whole.

"That is why NCC as the government mandated agency that coordinates film making in the country, we encourage film makers to affiliate with us to ensure their work is formally recognized.
"We are happy to work with local film producers. It's a big industry which need to be supported more.

"Athough our agency is small, we a doing our best to support local talents and encourage all other local film makers in the country to work with us because we have a policy now in place to ensure promote the film industry and culture at large in the country," Mr Kilanda said.

Mr Wangare in receiving the support, expressed his gratitude towards NCC for recognizing his efforts.

"Thankyou NCC for giving me this opportunity and recognizing Pacific Media Solutions as a local film company.

"The funding is timely and will greatly help us in completing the editing process of "Black Python" and we hope to launch it by December this year," Mr Wangare said.

"I also want to thank NCDC initially for actually ensuring the production of Black Python.

"Due to funding constraints, the production of Black Python took some time. We started in 2019, no funding and we initially commenced shooting in 2020 when NCDC supported us with K50,000.

"With that funding alone, we manage to work on the post production and the completion of the feature film.

"We thank NCC as the mandated government agency for coming on board and formally recognizing our work and we are more than greatful," Mr Wangare added.

He said 'Black Python' is a action packed film, and more like the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

It features all local actors and is expected to be launched in December.

"All VFX special effects and motion graphics done locally. It's a specialised area but we have some of our local talents who can master this area and do magic in movies such as ours.

"With the NCC funding support, I am sure we will complete the editing process on time and launch the film," Mr Wangare said.

Writer/Journalist Internship
The Be Positive Media Project • NCD, Port Moresby•

This is a newly established program aimed at training and grooming newly graduated writers from PNG universities. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 22.

This is a 12-week, part-time, paid internship. However, if you have limited availability, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks. The ideal candidate must be a talented writer who has completed a degree in Journalism, International Relations, Public Policy and Management, or Media and Communication. Graduates from last year or this year who are still looking for jobs are welcome to apply.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work from home and set their own schedule, but they must meet weekly deadlines. Articles submitted will be published on Be Positive Media platforms such as the Magazine, Newsletter, Online, or The Be Positive Project Blog.

Responsibilities:

Write 2-3 articles per week.
Research topics.
Assist with advocacy efforts.
Topics and issues to write about will be provided weekly.

Pacific Media Solutions are looking for a freelance choreographer to commission a dance choreography for the Music clip production. We are looking forward to work collaboratively with an industry professional to produce a 12 song clips from Ivankor band, centred on a chosen theme and genre of the music.

We are both enthusiastic and open to interpretation of the given stimuli and style. Although we are seeking to remain within the contemporary dance field, we are not opposed and in fact encourage the incorporation of personal/fusion styles and qualities.

Juncao Technology and Upland Rice Feature Documentary shows the Revival and development of the Rice and Mushroom project in Eastern Highlands Province.
