We had the absolute pleasure of mixing the score to this stunning work of art composed by the unparalleled and ! We spent a week up at Department of Post in Auckland back in March carefully crafting their beautiful score to try and bring it to life in the cinema. It was such a privilege to work with these legends again on their amazing mahi. The film is out now and the reviews have been incredible so far! Enjoy!

Happy release day to the new single “Fools Gold” that just dropped. Was such a treat working with Miah on this stunning gem of a song that saw us recording the stunning Kawai Grand Piano at and a choir made up of Miahs family and friends and also recording the beautiful cello from Charlie Davenport.

As always it’s such a privilege to work with Miah on her amazing songs! She’s such a talent and such a Ray of light to the music world! You can check this gem out on all the streaming services.

Episode 7: The Art of Patience with out now!

Today on the show we have the amazing Actress, Director and Producer Nathalie Boltt who you may know from the hugely successful Netflix show Riverdale who played “Penelope Blossom”. Natalie spends her time between Vancouver and New Zealand has also worked on films like District 9, TV shows like Riverdale, The chilling adventures of Sabrina and many other incredible films and shows.

Nathalie not only wears multiple hats in the film and tv world but is also an advocate for animal welfare and climate change and is an extremely present and inspiring human who i’ve had the privilege of working with on multiple projects.

This conversation was one that was the kind of conversation that I really wanted this podcast to be like when I first started this show. I wanted the show to be less of a question and answer session and more of a naturally evolving conversation. As soon as we connected on zoom we started chatting and never actually formally started so as you will hear; the conversation ebbs and flows in a beautiful and natural way.

It was such a privedlge having Nathalie on and I know you will all find here wisdom and insights incredibly inspiring

Happy release day to the incredible new .my.darling single “Ruby” that we Produced.

Ruby was such a journey to release, it started as a completely different song that we almost finished but wasn’t giving us goosebumps in the way we hoped so we went back to the drawing board and took it in a completely different direction. When we finally came up with the new approach; Maxine and myself fell in love with Ruby and it felt like it was the way she was always meant to be.

Thanks heaps to Maxine for being amazing and awesome as always. Everytime we jump in the studio I’m always so excited to see what we create! The vibes are always amazing and so are the hangs!

Had an absolute blast Mixing the score for a brilliant film composed by the legends and this week up at in Auckland. The team bought their absolute A-game and we came away with a soundtrack that sounds absolutely huge!! I don’t take for granted just how amazing life is getting to work with legends like these 2 and doing a job like this for a living!

This weeks Artists Spotlight is none other than Wellingtons !!!

Eli Superflyy is an artist/band that write some of the raddest songs with some of the raddest humans in the scene. The lyrical imagery is stunning and inventive and the sonic worlds they create are rich and constantly moving.

Swimming around in various indie realms, the band have a very unique style and one that can capture the adoration of any music fan!

We had the pleasure of Producing 2 songs called“Dust” and “Vicar” for Eli and the lads and absolutely loved working with these awesome humans on their amazing songs!

Hardware appreciation day!! As much as we love plugins and modern software; there’s something incredible and inspiring about dialing in tones with analog hardware.

With modern tools you can have endless choices and sometimes can have option paralysis. Yet me personally; I prefer to make a choice and stick to it as every single decision I make when Producing is based on what is coming out of the speakers; so I typically don’t want to build a house and then move the kitchen, so to speak.

We are lucky enough to have a huge selection of hardware in our studio but are absolutely spoiled for choice every time we go to where we track most of our bands (shout out to Lee for being a bloody legend and letting us hire his space to track our bands!).

There’s something so satisfying about tweaking a real piece of hardware and having the performer play into the processing. To have them come back into the control room and already hear it sounding amazing while recording is a sure fire way to feel inspired as you are working.

There, we fixed it…

Success doesn’t exist in isolation.

Great songwriting doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Inspiration doesn’t come from locking ourselves away from others and we are all a part of other peoples successes.

We are inspired by life and when we have people around us that help lift us up, share our work and support us; this is how we succeed.

It’s very, very hard to make it as an artist, business, band etc. unless you have a community helping spread the message.

So for those in the community, let’s lift each other up. When you hear something from a peer that inspires you, like it and share it.

When your buddy drops a new song, a new business, a new piece of art; tell people. It costs absolutely nothing and can help make peoples dreams come true.

As someone very smart once said; the smart selfish person gives. Because giving makes us feel better than taking.

So lets all give and help lift each other up!

Made up of a collection of top shelf humans, this energetic, exciting and much loved band are an absolute must check out!

We had the pleasure of Producing, Recording and Mixing their debut EP “Blink & You’ll Miss It” which has just been released.

Consisting of Huge guitars, Skux bass lines, Explosive drums and Melody’s that will get stuck in your head for days; this Project is very close to our heart here at Tiny Triumph Recordings.

They deserve all the success in the world and we had such an awesome time working with them on this amazing project!

Triumph Recordings Artist Spotlight:

We have decided that in 2024 we are going to show some love to many of the amazing and incredibly talented humans we have had the pleasure of working with by doing a weekly artist spotlight. We have been so privileged to work with so many brilliant songwriters, artists, performers and bands but starting things off we are going to give some love to the stunning

Taylah has been working away with her releases over the last few years and every time we get to work on one of her projects we are always so excited and pumped to see what comes out. Her distinctive vocals always give us goosebumps, her brilliant and detailed songwriting often portrays incredibly relatable angles on common human stresses in a fun and playful way and the songs are always back by a huge helping of soulful vibes.

Recently she’s left our lovely city of Wellington to head to Auckland to make big things happen with her career and we are so excited to see what comes next for this amazing talent! If you ever get a chance to see her live, drop what you are doing and get tickets immediately!

Happy release day to one of the countries best rock bands with the release of their debut EP (that we Produced, Recorded and Mixed) “Blink & you’ll miss it”. This was a real labour of love for all of us involved and it’s bloody great to see if finally released out into the world!

We jumped into the studio 2 and a half years ago but through pandemics and life the EP had many hold ups. But it’s finally out and I’m so bloody proud of the lads and al their amazing work! Truly some of the most talented songwriters and brilliant human beings (and insanely tight unit of brothers).

Go spin it and get ready to froth!

Who else loves rituals? What do yours look like? Rituals are such an important part of creativity for me. Without them my days feel less structured and less creative. I fill my day with these rituals so my brain has more bandwidth and a sense of calm in everything I do. When my rituals slip; so does my mind. So here’s what I do each day to be at peak performance in the studio: 1. Get up, light a @nola_candles candle and meditate for 20 mins to start the day with a calm mind. 2. Write in my gratitude journal to make sure I am starting the day with gratitude for my life and to keep my mind in a positive and glass half full vibe. 3. Stretch and then make a coffee using @rabbitislandcoffee beans. This is for joy. Absolute joy! 4. Read something inspiring to make we want to strive to be better and do better. 5. Pick up the guitar and be creative. I just allow my fingers to play and see what the universe is sending me for the day. Write from the heart, not from the mind. 6. Get into the studio and record or mix for the artist I am working for that day. One of my favourite parts of the day!! 7. Finish the day by either walking over a mountain or heading out for a swim. 8. Get home and meditate some more to go to bed in a calm and peaceful mood. 9. Read something poetic in bed (fiction) 10. Sleep #rituals

Wait till the end…. 👀 When we push that percussion button on, what happens? All of a sudden, a simple and laid back groove completely comes alive! The front to back depth of the instrument is embellished and the track feels bigger and more exciting. Adding shakers, tambourines, blocks, bongos, car keys, really anything is such an important part of getting the groove feeling exciting and huge. It can’t be understated just how important percussion is to live recordings. Even if you go back and listen to any song off Oasis “What’s the story (morning glory)” you will hear the percussion almost louder than the drums. It’s an instant vibe maker!
