Around 3,500 have been seized by Dutch authorities due to not meeting the legal requirements of an e-bike. The popularity of fatbikes in The Netherlands, combined with the large supply of cheap models and spotlight on (near-)accidents, has prompted the authorities to step up investigations into the origins of these two-wheelers.
