He made this known via his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

“This morning, I attended the Governance Agenda for an Inclusive Nigeria (GAIN) event in Abuja. I was the only candidate that personally signed off on our commitment and affirmation to inclusivity of Nigerian women, youths, and persons with disability (PWD) in governance.”, he tweeted.

The federal government has revealed some of its plans for university lecturers to end the strike.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said the FG is ready to implement a 23.5 per cent salary increase for lecturers and a 35% increment for professors.

The government is also ready to allocate N150bn for universities revitalization in the 2023 budget.0

The Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris, has said that Nigeria remains a symbol of democracy in West Africa.

She stated this to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, when he led the Federal Government to the White House to discuss Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan on Friday.

In a statement released by her office on Saturday, Harris was quoted as saying, “Nigeria has also been an important partner in upholding the international rules-based order, whether it is tackling the democratic backsliding that we’ve been seeing in West Africa or standing up for Ukraine at the United Nations.

“The United States remains committed to supporting free and fair elections in Nigeria next February — elections which we have confidence will be peaceful and reflect the will of the people.

“And, of course, we do feel very strongly, as I know you do, that Nigeria is and must remain a bastion of democracy for West Africa.

“More broadly, Africa’s leadership is key to confronting all of the global challenges we face. And to that end, Nigeria is key.”

192 National Assembly members set to dump APC

The Planning and Strategy Committee of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation has notified the hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the possibility of about 192 National Assembly (NASS) members defecting from the ruling party to opposition parties.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this follows the outcome of the party primaries in May and June where some top members failed in their bid to secure their return ticket.

The committee was chaired by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal. Members included a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; serving senators Opeyemi Bamidele, Ishaku Abbo, Grace Bent and Basiru Ajibola; member of the House of Reps, Musa Sarkin-Adar, Komsol Longgap and Olawale Raji; former senators Adesoji Akanbi, Abu Ibrahim and Magnus Abe.

Some others were the Director-General, Tinubu Support Group, Umar Mohammed; Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Silas Agara; former deputy governor of Lagos State (under Tinubu), Femi Pedro; Safaa Adam; Amina Indala; Kashim Imam; Akin Awodeyi-Akinseyiwa; Saadatu Garba; Abubakar Sanusi and M.T Usman.

“There is a need to reach out to the principal officers of the National Assembly and the party leadership at the national, state, zonal and local government levels to mitigate and assuage the aggrieved persons.

“It is worrisome that 22 serving senators and 170 National Assembly members are set to defect from the APC,” the report, sighted by this newspaper, reads in part.
