The United States of America has urged the Federal Government to implement the reports of various panels set up to investigate human rights abuses by security agencies during the protests in 2020 as well as end the arbitrary arrest of LGBTQ persons in the country.

The US made the call at the United Nations Human Rights Council 4th cycle Universal Period Review of Nigeria in Geneva, Switzerland. While addressing some human rights concerns in Nigeria, a representative of the US government asked the Federal Government to take steps to implement the report, amend the Nigerian Press Council Act to remove restrictions on freedom of expression and review the standard operating procedure of the armed forces to protect human rights.

No fewer than 30 persons have been killed in the Mangu local government area of Plateau state despite the 24-hour curfew imposed on the area by the state governor Caleb Mutfwang. According to reports, the bandits attacked Kwahaslalek and surrounding communities in the early hours of Wednesday, January 24.

Eyewitnesses say the communities attacked are not far from the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, permanent orientation camp at Jakatai, Mangu Local Government Area.

Beverly Hills 90210 actor David Gail has died at the age of 58.

The American actor played the one-time fiancé of Shannen Doherty's Brenda Walsh on the hit 1990s show.

Gail's death was confirmed by his sister, Katie Colmenares on Instagram.

"There's barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me," she wrote, alongside a photo of the two siblings hugging.

"I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being," Colmenares continued, "missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another."

No cause of death or further details were given.

A U.S. Army officer and fitness influencer has died by su***de just days after she celebrated her daughter's 12th birthday.

On January 20, friends of Staff Sergeant Michelle Young, 34, shared the sad news that she had taken her life.

Days earlier, Young shared a post celebrating her daughter Gracie's birthday with her followers.
'Happy birthday to the sweetest girl I’ve ever known,' Young wrote. 'She’s a force to be reckoned with, she’s witty, ambitious, kind, compassionate, intelligent, hardworking, hilarious, and selfless.

'I cried the entire time I made this. I love you forever, kiddo. The best part about my life is being your momma.'
Her death has led to an outpouring of tributes from friends online and on her social media pages.

Superstar footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo has said that football's individual awards are losing credibility in the wake of Lionel Messi's controversial FIFA triumph.

Lionel Messi picked up FIFA's The Best prize last week and many were surprised he won it over the Treble-winning Erling Haaland. The Argentine superstar also won the Ballon d'Or after his World Cup triumph but FIFA's prize was awarded over a period that did not include that.
Speaking after winning three prizes at the Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo, hinted that his arch-rival Messi was not a deserving winner.

Some secondary school students have embarked on a protest against LGBTQ community in Plateau state.

They held up placards expressing their disapproval of LGBTQ practices and repeatedly chanted “No to LGBTQ”. They noted that the protest is aimed at raising an awareness on dangers of becoming a member of the LGBTQ community.
