CRSIGM FORUM APPEALS TO PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU TO RECALL BETTA EDU.
By Editor.
The Cross River State Indigenous Gospel Ministers (CRSIGM) Forum earlier today held a Press conference at the Tolin Conference Hall by MCC Road, Calabar, where they appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to recall the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu back to office.
According to the State Chairman of the Forum, Evangelist Stephen Atukanre, their appeal has become necessary hence her suspension have taken a toll on the majority of the down trodden and the less privileged who are worse hit as a result of her suspension and better still, the non-indictment so far from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in her preliminary investigation.
"We are here today for just one purpose; to draw the attention of His Excellency, President BOLA Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to the plight of the down trodden Nigerians who had looked upon the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation under the watch of Dr. Betta Edu, a brilliant and selfless young Nigerian who walks with the aspiration of millions of the poor in all ramifications and had given hope to the hopeless through the 'Renewed Hope Agenda,' of our dear President Tinubu, in the course of her duty, drawing hatred and envy to herself simply because she's doing the right thing.
Evangelist Atukanre said that the Forum have watched with keen interest the development so far and observed the unfortunate politics and media trial of Dr. Betta Edu and the preliminary report of the EFCC tilting towards her innocence and as such, she should be recall back to office to continue her good works so that majority of Nigerians in need of help does not suffer from the politics of envy, jealousy and seeing nothing good in 'good government policies' and put forward the following prayers:
"Our position as Cross River State Indigenous Gospel Ministers (CRSIGM) Forum having watched the ordeal of Dr. Betta Edu and the politics behind her travails is quite unfortunate and make bold to appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to listen to our prayers, thus:
i). Silence isn't golden at all times. Hence, it is our wish that Dr. Betta Edu should be recall to her Ministry to continue her good work to achieving the "Renewed Hope Agenda."
ii). Should the baby be thrown with the bath water because the water is dirty?
iii). Should the Renewed Hope Agenda die with the aspiration of millions of poor Nigerians because of mere suspicion and allegations of corruption and still under investigation?
iv). It is not Dr. Betta Edu that is on trial here but the Administration. Hence, we must wakeup against sentiments and playing to the gallery for a few disgruntled elements to the detriment of our people.
v). We have followed the political activism of President Tinubu and know his stand against social injustice as a result of minority tag or gender. Hence, why our appeal to recall Dr. Betta Edu back to her place of work to continue her good work."
They pledged their unalloyed support to President Tinubu's Administration as well as that of Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River, but that they will not fail to proffer solutions to the Government when the needs arises.
"The Cross River State Indigenous Gospel Ministers (CRSIGM) Forum pledged her unalloyed support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State as we hold both in high esteemed, but wouldn't stop to call them to order as it concerns good governance, accountability, security and safety of Nigerians for prosperity to strive."
Members took turn to eulogies Dr. Betta Edu for her commitment and passion to making sure that any responsibility she's saddled with is performed maximally and results always seen.
Membership of the Forum cut across CAN and PFN.

DR JANET EKPENYONG FELICITATES CHRISTIANS AS THEY MARK EASTER.
The Deputy National Coordinator, National Cash Transfer Office, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has felicitated with Christians on this year's Easter day celebration, urging all to live a sacrificial lifestyle in emulation of Christ's perfect life.
Dr Ekpenyong said, that bearing the burdens of one another is the ultimate replica of this season's interpretation as she urges citizens to have faith in the government and collaborate in building a nation we all will be proud of.
"We have come a long way as a people and as a nation especially in a moment like this when the world is hit by tragedies, hunger, and other humanitarian crises, the only way out is to make sacrifices as Christ did by dying on the Cross and paying the ultimate price of salvation for the World.
As a Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we will continue to do our best to alleviate the situation of things and apply empirical solutions that will last for generations.
I wish you all a Happy Easter Celebration filled with love and unity.

Earlier today, in Geneva, Switzerland, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong had the rare privilege of addressing the 148th Inter-parliamentary Union assembly on the theme “Building bridges for peace and development.”
In his remarks, he expressed the determination of young parliamentarians across the globe to play a role in bringing peace to a world that is beset with pockets of conflict, not being unmindful, however, of the historical factors that may have led to them.
He stressed the opinion that for these obstacles to be overcome, dialogue, empathy, and respect for each other's history and cultures was key to building bridges.
He shared his experience as Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, where the members continue to work tirelessly with the board and management to achieve a lasting peace and surmount the environmental & developmental challenges in the Niger Delta region.
In closing, he urged the assembly to enact resolutions that would protect women and children, noncombatants who bear the major brunt of the needless violence associated with war and conflict. He challenged the assembly not to relent in its effort to bring lasting peace to the world by invoking the words of the late Kofi Annan who said "Peace is never a perfect achievement”.
He closed by reminding the assembly that peace is not just a destination but a manner of traveling.

Last night, during the debate on the inclusion of an emergency item into the agenda of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union taking place in Geneva, the Senate President and leader of the Nigerian delegation, HE Godswill Akpabio, made an emotional plea for the inclusion of a resolution on the war in Gaza.
Acknowledging a failure to achieve this at the 147th session in Angola, he urged the present assembly to take into consideration the innocent children who are facing inhumane conditions including lack of food and water, infections from injuries, and even death.
The Senate President also drew the attention of the gathering to the fact that the eyes of the world were on them, in anticipation of a resolution that would nudge the warring parties towards the path of peace.
He pleaded for all members to put aside their egos and individual differences and work collectively towards drafting a resolution that would lead to a ceasefire, provide access to humanitarian aid for residents of the Gaza, as well as the release of hostages.
This, he argued, would set the stage for the next round of talks which would hopefully lead to negotiations for the attainment of sustainable peace.
