THE WORD

SPEAKER: Elder O. S. Akpan
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Ime U. Akpan
THEME: ARISE AND SHINE
TEXT: Isaiah 60:1, Matthew 5:14

Arise, shine is not a suggestion, it’s not an advice, it’s not a dream neither it an opinion. It is a command given from God, when a command is coming from God, it is perfect. We as Christians should know that this is a wake-up call with an equal amount of optimism and pep, spoken to the people of God who might have wanted to pull the covers over their head.

He wants us to get up from the lowly position the enemy has placed us, which is causing us to be depressed and lose hope.

The world is in darkness and as been since the fall of man in the Gerden of Eden. Since then satan as held dominion and the ways of the world have held sway in the heart and minds of human kind. That’s why Jesus compares us to light, saying we are the light of the world, unable to be hidden. No one puts a lamb under a bowl because a lamp is designed to help people see in dark places. For Christ’s words and actions showed the true nature of the world around him.

REPORT ON SECOND SUNDAY OF JUNE 2023 (11/6/2023)

THE WORD
SPEAKER: Elder Sunday E. Etuk
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Blessed U. Sunday
THEME: “GOD NEED YOUR GIFT”
TEXT: Deuteronomy 16:16-17

According to the scripture which has made us to know that every man shall appear before the Lord in the place which He choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of the bread, and in the feast of the tabernacle and note that no man shall appear before the Lord empty handed but every man shall give what he has according to the blessing of the Lord.

Thy God which He had given thee.
You are to offer to Him what was possible without it being a burden, but to decide in their heart the level of generosity, for the Lord is He who blesses His people and He does so according to His own will.

Do not come before the Lord empty-handed. This requires personal consecration, a settling aside of self-interest and needs to prepare to serve.

In conclusion; the law is repeated that the men were to prepare before the Lord three times a year at the three feast just mentioned as it is compared in (Exodus 23:17, Exodus 23:14 and Exodus 34:23) with the additional clause. “at the place which the Lord shall chose”, and the following explanation on the word “not empty” but everyman according to his gift of his hand, according to the blessing of Jehovah his God, which He hath given thee,” i.e. with sacrificial gifts, as much as everyone could offer, according to the blessing which he had received from God.

THE WORD
SPEAKER: Elder N. N. Obuka
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Ime Udoh
THEME: GOD’S COMMANDMENT
TEXT: Jeremiah 11:6-8, ISam 15:1, John 15:10

WHAT IS COMMANDMENT?
Commandment means to hear God’s voice, accept His authorities and do what He says.

In our time, however, obeying God’s commands often is ignored, dismissed or glossed over. Why? Because obedience slaps us, it confronts our sin, it challenges our lives. Yet God commands us to obey, not because he wants what is best for us.

God’s commands are not to kill our fun but to increase our enjoyment. Disobey those commands and quickly you will see how much sadness you can experience.
God’s commands are not to box us in but for our protection. Again, disobey those commands and quickly you will see how much trouble you will be in.

All these commands to holiness, to abstain from this or that in the world are commands for our good.

Conclusion: God help us to believe and to live accordingly, to obey your commandments for your glory and for our good.

Announcement and Benediction was led by Elder N. N. Obuka

THE WORD
SPEAKER: Elder N. N. Obuka
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Ime Okon Udo
THEME: THE AFFLICTION OF OUR LORD JESUS TO DEATH
TEXT: Psalm 41:9, Isaiah 53:4-8, Psalm 69:21, Matthew 26:59-61, John 19:34

The death of Jesus was part of a divine plan to save humanity. The death and resurrection of this one man is at the very heart of the Christian faith. For Christians it is through Jesus’s death that people’s broken relationship with God is restored. This is known as the Atonement.

This was the greatest event that ever has occurred in the history of the world. It was so because here our Lord was doing mighty, mighty things. He was taking away the sin of the world; He was reconciling us to God; He was bringing in everlasting righteousness; He was satisfying divine justice; He was paying the debt which our sins owed to the justice of God for the breaking of moral law. Here the work is complete and having completed it, having shouted with a loud cry “It is finished” He then relaxes His body in death. Death was necessary as well as life. Not only must our Lord suffer but He must needs enter into death because the wages of sin is death.

This death was different from all other deaths – astonishingly different. Men die because of their own sins. “The soul that sinneth”, says God, “It shall die”.

Without His physical death the sacrifice would be incomplete. It was not enough for Him to live, not enough that He should be scourged, not enough that He should be nailed, spat upon, hated and crucified but necessary that He should actually enter into death, which here He does lovingly and readily for you and me.

In conclusion; Christ Jesus who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. The death he died, he died to sin once for all. But the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed, but not despairing, persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed, always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

WORD MINISTRATION
SPEAKER: Elder S. E. Etuk
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Utibe Anthony Akpan
THEME: LUKEWARM CHRISTIAN
TEXT:Revelation 3:15, Luke 6:46, John 3:18

What does it mean to be a Lukewarm Christian?
Lukewarm Christian is someone who claims to be a follower of Jesus but lives as though they are sufficient in themselves and don’t need Him.

They might attend church, but they are content in their own ways and rarely apply what they learn. They might attend a worship service, but they treat it like a concert only engaging if the music fits their preference; treating it more than a concert.

A Christian in a healthy relationship with the Lord will do these things because of their commitment and love for God. A lukewarm Christian dismisses their need for God and disconnects from the concept of a relationship with Him because they believe they are sufficient in and of themselves.

Lukewarm Christian encourages the body of Christ to remain neutral. You become a lukewarm Christian when you allow your love of God to fade. Lukewarm Christianity causes the church to stop doing the will of the Lord and begin living for themselves.

The speaker urges that many Christians are confident in themselves, they seemingly have no need for God. Because they believe they have no need for Him, they remain neutral when they should be standing for Him. Instead of standing for righteousness they promise. That is why being a lukewarm Christian is so dangerous.

In conclusion:The speaker add that as Jesus addressed this in the Sermon on the Mount, when He said, ‘Not everyone who says to Me’, ‘Lord, Lord’, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in Heaven will enter. This was a divine warning from the teaching of Jesus Christ that one must be prepared to enter into the kingdom of Heaven and must have the light of life that is made possible through following Jesus Christ. Let us be careful and diligent in serving the living God because God does not want us to be a Lukewarm Christian.

WORD MINISTRATION
SPEAKER: Elder N. N. Obuka
TRANSLATOR: Bro. Jephthah Godwin
THEME: GOD IS OUR PROTECTOR
TEXT: Psalm 32:7, Psalm 1:5-7

The vessel illustrate on the story of Saul and David in the Bible, how Saul turnout to become an enemy to David. One day, King Saul again went out with three thousand soldiers to look for David, in order to kill him. Saul continued his relentless hunt for David, just because he realized that David will one day become a king of Israel. Since then, Saul had not rest, he was looking for ways to put an end to David’s life. But he could not find him, because God was with David.

As Saul sought for David, there were some sheep-pens along the side of the road, one of them was built around the entrance to the cave. Saul went into the cave to relieve himself. Unknown to him, David and his men were hiding at the back of the cave where Saul hid himself. David’s servant whispered to him to quickly use such opportunity and kill his enemy, Saul, who wanted to kill him. They told him God has delivered his enemy into his hands, but David refused to harm Saul. He rather sneaked over and cut off a small piece of Saul’s robe. He wanted to use it as a witness that God delivered Saul into his hands but he meant no harm.

David’s action reveals to us that we are not to take revenge or attack over our enemies because revenge is of God. Saul was so surprised when he realized that David had an opportunity to kill him but he refused, Saul prayed that God will give David a big reward for what he did to spear his life. God was pleased with David for refusing to kill God’s anointed king.

The preacher added that, we are secure in God. Nothing will happen to us without Him knowing it. He is in control, no matter how crazy the world around us is becoming. Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to Him, “you are my defender and protector. You are my God, in you I trust”.

God is our protector, call upon Him in your heart, and He will save you from your downfalls. In His name alone, the Lord holds great power to those who refuge. Call Him and He will answer. Do not seek revenge or seek harm for others who have done your wrong.

Conclusion: Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mind, I will repay, says the Lord”…

WORD MINISTRATION

SPEAKER: Elder Sunday Udoette

TRANSLATOR: Bro. Joshua Ebuka

THEME: "LOOKING UNTO THE LORD."

BIBLE REFS.: Psalm 121:1-2, Psalm 34:5, 1Corinthian 15:58, Micah 7:7
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Let us look only to Jesus, the one who began our faith and who makes it perfect. He suffered death on the Cross. But he accepted the shame as if it were nothing because of the joy that God put before him. Let us focus only on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith.

In conclusion; When all things seem blurred, when all ways seems to be closed, when life is not taking shape, the solution is LOOK UNTO GOD.
