NOTES
God being a Holy and a Righteous Being does not condone sin. Sin an element which foster separation between man and God. The Holy spirit departs from any man who commits sin and the moment that happens, the evil spirit from the Devil takes possession of such fellow. This can be seen in the case of Saul.

King David was broken when realized the weight of the sin he committed . David let go his pride and came to the point of restitution. God does not take a broken heart for granted. The moment you acknowledge your sin and confess genuinely, God is always ready to forgive us.

PENALTIES OF SIN
1 Sin leads to the lost of fellowship with God.
2 It leads to the lost of a person's joy of salvation
3 It makes one walk in darkness
4 It leads to a weak prayer life.

CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
1 Sin affects our destiny .
2 It affects our physical and spiritual body and appearance.
3. Sin affects others.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR SIN
1 Sin can be prevented by having enough of the word of God in your life
2 The continuous intersession of our Lord Jesus Christ
3 The indwelling spirit of God in our lives helps us leave a sin free life.

In conclusion, every believer who wishes that his status be changed ought to let go of his self-will and surrender totally to God. The heart is a dwelling place for God. God doesn't dwell in a polluted heart.

- A renewed man is a man who would offer freewillingly without complaining.

NOTES
Examine is an act of carefully observing and inspecting oneself to know if he or she is fit or not. It is a process of critically analysing oneself for a better production by trying to re-write his or her wrong and doing better. The period of examination is a period of conscious evaluation.

The scripture laying emphasis on the importance of examination stated in 2nd Corinthians 13:5 instructs every believer to examine themselves to attest their faith in God. This is the process whereby one is able to establish his personal testimony of salvation and know that Christ is in him. Without a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ and having a personal relationship with Him, you will be disqualified on the last day.

Examination is not a period of condemnation, but a period of correction, improvement and a period whereby one is put back on the right track. It doesn’t make you fall from the faith, rather it strengthens your faith in God by making you to do better regardless. It is a period where every believer cast back his mind, reflecting on the Apostles doctrine and way of life.

B/ref: Hebrew 13: 1-2; 16.

Notes
There are times where God do not reveal certain things to a man irrespective of your relationship with Him. This is seen in verse 27 where Elisha said “…and the Lord had hid it from me, and had not told me”. The Shunammite woman was rich, influential but never had a child. Again, Elisha the prophet never knew she never had a child. Gehazi the prophet’s servant on noticing that she didn’t have child mentioned it to his master. This led to a conversation that resulted to a pronouncement which came to pass at the said time of the year.

God likes challenges; when in need of something, look for the real thing and not an alternative. The shunammite woman stood her ground. She was sure of what she wanted and who she was going to meet. She never loosed focus on her destination. She took a strong decision with optimism that all was well. If you have a little faith, express and exercise it and God will honour it.

Hospitality is very important. Hospitality is a way of laying a foundation for future blessings. Sarah and the Shunammite woman received an extraordinary blessing from God because of their hospitality. Christians ought to let brotherly love continue amongst them as it foster unity and growth. These sacrifices please God.

Conclusion, Christian ought to be strong in time of trail. they shouldn’t entertain fear and defeat.
