FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SKILL-UP ARTISAN PROGRAMME

Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) is a transformative initiative by the Federal Government and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). We are committed to up-skilling, licensing, and empowering 10 million artisans in Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, is committed to creating gainful employment for the teeming youth. President Tinubu’s vision for economic development and poverty reduction in Nigeria includes supporting artisans and promoting industrial development through a strong workforce of skilled individuals.

Many employment initiatives target the white-collar industry but the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, is launching a massive campaign that targets the blue-collar industry to ensure inclusiveness in job creation drive of the Federal Government.

This programme, which is known as the Skill-UP Artisans (SUPA), will impact on 10 million artisans over a 2 year period. The programme is a joint initiative of the Federal Government and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and will be coordinated by the later.
SUPA is in line with global employment trends, which have shifted as a result of the way technology has changed the face of many industries. The preference for white-collar jobs has resulted in a scarcity of qualified Nigerian artisans. SUPA seeks to reverse this trend.
SUPA is in line with global employment trends, which have shifted as a result of the way technology has changed the face of many industries. The preference for white-collar jobs has resulted in a scarcity of qualified Nigerian artisans. SUPA seeks to reverse this trend.

The absence of a coordinated effort to certify and license artisans has further deepened the skills gap and also brought to light the need to upscale unlicensed and uncertified artisans. The Federal Government is committed to promoting skills development for artisans and fostering a society based on shared prosperity, tolerance, compassion, and equal treatment of all citizens. The Federal Government is also determined to tackle the skills deficiency among artisans and standardize artisanal practice in the country.

SUPA is a comprehensive initiative aimed at aiding quality service delivery through the certification and licensing of artisans to promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. The programme ensures the availability of a skilled workforce for domestic industries, thereby reducing labour import dependency. This programme is targeted at empowering 10 million hard-working Nigerians in two years. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment towards promoting economic development and improving the standard of living for its citizens across all industries.

CONSUMER CREDIT APPLICATION

Financial Advisory: Responsible Spending and Consumer Credit

In light of the recent rollout of the Consumer Credit Scheme, we wish to address a crucial aspect of financial health: responsible spending. Consumer credit is a powerful tool that, when used wisely, can significantly enhance your quality of life. However, it is imperative to approach this resource with prudence and foresight.

Here are some key pieces of advice for all current and potential beneficiaries of consumer credit schemes:

1) Live Within Your Means:
1a) Budgeting: Create and stick to a budget that reflects your income and essential expenses. This will help you avoid overspending and falling into debt traps.

1b)Needs vs. Wants: Distinguish between what you need and what you desire. Prioritize spending on necessities before indulging in luxuries.

2) Understand the Terms:
2a) Interest Rates: Be aware of the interest rates and how they compound over time. Even small purchases can become expensive if not paid off promptly.

2b) Repayment Schedule: Familiarize yourself with the repayment terms. Late payments can lead to penalties and negatively impact your credit score.

3) Avoid Impulse Purchases:
3a) Reflect Before You Buy: Take a moment to consider if a purchase is essential. Delaying gratification can often lead to better financial decisions.

3b) Research: Compare prices and look for deals. Don’t rush into buying something without ensuring you’re getting the best value for your money.

4) Plan for the Future:
4a) Savings: Allocate a portion of your income to savings. This creates a safety net for unexpected expenses and reduces the need to rely on credit.

4b) Investments: Consider investing in assets that appreciate over time, providing you with long-term financial security.

5) Seek Financial Education:
5a) Knowledge is Power: Educate yourself on financial management. Many organizations offer free resources to help you make informed decisions.

5b) Professional Advice: If you’re unsure about how to manage your credit, seek advice from a financial advisor.

Remember, the Consumer Credit Scheme is designed to empower you, not to lead you into financial distress. Use this opportunity to invest in your future responsibly. Let’s all strive for financial stability and success.

- When *GOD* wanted to create *TREES*, he spoke to the *EARTH*.

- But when *GOD* wanted to create *MAN*, he turned to *HIMSELF*.
