His first choice for a name was Redemption Records, under which he released a few singles. The company was subsequently re-named L.a Records, after Lawrence Aluoch initials. From 2009 to 2012, the company's headquarters is based in Drive Inn -Nairobi Kenya

The label has been home to some of the most influential artists of the last 3 years, with numerous success stories in each of the last 3 years.
