Today (fortunately!) even the memory of this distant and gloomy world has disappeared. In fact, there are few historical testimonies that have come down to us from that unfortunate dimension: one of these is an audio recording of about 25 minutes, which we at HDK decided to publish in this cassette entitled - of course - "NIGHTMARE REALM". Nothing is known about this arcane music other than the name of the enigmatic author: DWORF.
Inside the cassette you will find an insert with a puzzle game that will allow you to immerse yourself for a moment in the NIGHTMARE REALM, reliving its horrors and cruel challenges. Free from the fears that oppressed the men who lived in that distant era and strengthened by the scientific knowledge that modernity has brought us, we are sure that you will emerge victorious from the clash with the bloodthirsty Lords of the NIGHTMARE REALM.

It is reductive to place Graham's music under a specific tag because he is able to release amazing albums in any genre or subgenre that can in some way be traced back to the definition of electronic music. Here we go again: GNOLL IS BACK!
This time, the brutal dungeon-synth ensemble was involved in a collaboration of epic proportions called… .. 𝐹𝒶𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒲𝒶𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓇!
⚔️🔮⚔️🔮⚔️ Faer is a Conan-esque character specifically invented for HDK by the English writer John Reppion (co-author of Albion, Wild Girl and many more with his wife Leah Moore), 𝐹𝒶𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒲𝒶𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓇 is a tribute to the glorious heroic-fantasy paperbacks of the 70s, but with typical vibes of the “dark-age” of American comics of the early 90s. 🔮🕸️🔮🕸️🔮
HDK commissioned the London artist Samuel Allan (already our collaborator for the cover of “Cro-man 2: the Curse of the Wizard”), to take care of the character design and to create shocking action artwork inspired by John’s subjects; GNOLL finally sprung into action and brought Faer’s adventures to life through music, as usual weaving together brooding synths, dark orchestrations, and tons of sense of wonder 🗡⛓️🗡⛓️🗡
The result is this almost hour-long tape wrapped in Samuel Allan’s vigorous illustrations, the soundtrack of a 32-page booklet containing three 𝐹𝒶𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒲𝒶𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓇 stories from the fairy pen (or keyboard?) of John Reppion. ⚔️✨⚔️✨⚔️

Here's "La Sonagliera della Morte" ("The Death Rattle", originally published in "I Racconti di Dracula" n. 94, Edizioni Farolfi, 1967), a macabre tale that recalls the films of the masters of surreal ghotic-horror such as Jesus Franco, Leon Klimovsky and Jean Rollin.
A young police detective travels to an anonymous town in Carinthia to investigate the disappearance of a girl. Here he will meet an eccentric musician who loves to dress in ancient clothes and sadistic legends of vampirism...

Between the '60s and the '80s the production of pulp magazines in Italy was flourishing and incredibly varied: every month hundreds of paperbacks containing strange, adventurous or more often terrifying stories came out on the newsstands.
Among the most popular italian pulp magazines was the horror series "I Racconti di Dracula" (Tales of Dracula) published by Baron Cantarella: each issue of "I Racconti di Dracula" contained a grim and disturbing story, inspired by Italian gothic and giallo cinema, written by anonymous, non-professional authors, who typed in the evening after work to supplement their salary. The mainstream culture branded those publications as "garbage” and they were banned to those under 18.
In the 1980s, after the series had closed due to poor sales, someone came up with the idea of making a television adaptation of "I Racconti di Dracula". Docuvideo TV participated in a consortium of local TV networks that wanted to finance the production. Unfortunately, due to economic problems, the project did not succeed: what remains are the scripts and the soundtracks composed by the maestro Denti di Vetro (TEETH OF GLASS).
HDK, in its series called "Morbid tales", proposes (in episodes) the "I Racconti di Dracula" soundtracks by TEETH OF GLASS, attaching to the cassette a booklet with the complete scripts. Here is the sixth episode, "LA SONAGLIERA DELLA MORTE" ("The Death Rattle")

Oh yes, this is the first case of an HDK character's "remake": Hoppo was, in fact, the protagonist of a small album released many years ago (HDK 36), and now returns in a completely different guise.
Little remains of that light-hearted Hoppo and his fairy-tale world: in his 2024 version Hoppo wanders in a gloomy land inhabited by strange creatures, oppressed by magic and at the mercy of a cruel god. The search for happiness has given way to a struggle for survival in a world beyond the understanding of our poor protagonist, forced to find his way out of grotesque situations.
