KLD027 - Gunyuzum Inc. Remixes by

On title track “Gunyuzum” (in English: “My Light of Day”), Senlen sculpts an entrancing sonic narrative to open the EP. Accompanied by psychedelic guitar sounds, ritualistic darbuka and clap rhythms, Otuk's deep and intensive vocals guide the listener through mystical tone fields.

Taking inspiration from a poem Senlen had written years ago and rediscovered, “Mubashir” summons brooding, ominous atmospheres. The ethereal Oud sample threaded throughout the piece navigates a sea of dancing souls in the warm wind of a spring night on the shores of Istanbul.

Closing track “Liquor in the Palace” recasts Senlen’s traditional influences in a much more contemporary setting. The producer’s spiritual vocals provide an authentic ottoman palace experience, while smooth liquid synths phrases and sampled liquor glasses illuminate the room by standing in the shadow.

Otuk explains the idea behind Gunyuzum: “This is a chaotic square where the contrasts and dilemmas meet together and are fused into each other. It is a set of times and places where inconsistencies become consistent, where contradictions are gathered with a harmony.” Gunyuzum invites the listener to discover where they stand between opposite poles in these clouds of entangled contrasts.”

Producer Atakan Senlen aka Otuk filters Istanbul melodies through the sounds of Berlin’s urban sprawl, each subtle sonic gesture revealing the deep connections between the two cities. Senlen’s debut EP as Otuk, Gunyuzum masterfully transmutes both ancient and modern sonics into sprawling psychogeographies, conjuring palpable memories and emotion borne aloft by hypnotic rhythms.
Born in Turkey but now based in Berlin, Senlen imbibes a truly omnivorous array of influences in his music, blending traditional Turkish and Arabic music and Anatolian psych with organic house and electronic music.

Gregorio Marigliano is a Rome born, Berlin based producer that goes by the name of Dr. Sud.
His heavily percussive music integrates jazz harmony together with influences from different genres, such as electronica, funk and house, to create an unique combination that pleases the ear of the listeners across the genres.
This release features two original tracks from Dr. Sud and two remixes by Pete Bandit and Spectral3 (newly founded duo of Siggatunez and Pete Bandit).
“Parchimer” is named after the station where Dr. Sud went to school right after moving to Berlin, at 11 years old.
“I started the track wanting to try to reproduce what the kids nowadays are doing, the trap stuff, thinking: anyone could do it, I could do it. I fell into making what I’m actually more comfortable with, chopping vocals, adding jazzy harmonies and building a groovy rythm utilising percussion and samples”.
The title track “On the Loose”, even though keeping a breakbeat throughout, has a foundation in house music, but is still searching for more intricate harmonies and chord changes, adding vibrant arpeggios, fat baselines and strong themes.
On the flip side we hear a Chicago take of “On the Loose” by Pete Bandit, that takes the house essence of the track and pushes it to a straight and groovy dancefloor direction, adding a new baseline that ties everything together into a floor ready bomb.
Last but not least, Pete Bandit and Siggatunez join forces as Spectral3, speeding up the tempo and going into Breakbeat territory with their flawless “Mental Breakdown” remix of Parchimer.

Giovanni Isgrò aka Maple Juice is a Dj, producer and sound engineer based in Milan.
His musical inspirations, in a nutshell, stat from artists like Prokofiev and Satie, pass through all the black culture of the Delta, dive deep into the sound of the 70’s (especially '74 - '77 dirty grooves, sometimes '78), and end up with the latest dances of Chicago and Detroit.
His djsets range from Soul, Undergound Disco and Boogie Funk to Hip Hop, Ghetto House and Footwork.
Lately he has been performing a bouncy live set with MPC and other gears. The production is a blend of sampled grooves, odd drum machines, and different styles of synths.
'It Began' is made of tracks extract from his live. Starting from a ghetto juke ispiration it then develops towards house music sounds with disco funk hints through the obsessive use of samples and rude basslines.

KLD023 Rayne - Diyar EP (Inc. Siggatunez Remix)

Diyar, the debut release from Rayne embarks on a trip from the sun of Turkey to the winds of Berlin.

Rayne is a Berlin-based DJ and producer from Turkey. As a resident of ROOT and DJ, she has been active in Berlin’s independent electronic music scene with her adventurous sets since 2020.

Diyar weaves together the disparate threads of Rayne’s eclectic and ever-expanding musical world, the producer taking the same wildly inventive approach in the studio as she does on the decks. Deep pads, liquid sounds and organic percussion shape the sonic horizons of this wild EP.

From its opening seconds Diyar is immediately as powerfully intoxicating as it is meticulously constructed and curated. Opening track “Gaze” guides us through a mysterious, otherworldly landscape, borne on the back of hypnotic polyrhythms and Rayne’s mesmerising vocals. Shifting gears on title track “Diyar”, Rayne displays her skill at blending organic and digital, weaving electronics with the haunting beauty of the cura, a traditional Anatolian string instrument.

On “The Witch”, we find ourselves in the middle of a ritual in a mystic forest, Rayne’s ethereal vocals emerging as subtle whispers from behind each tree. Diyar’s closing track gives us a clue to understand the inspiration behind Rayne’s fantastical sonic world with field recordings captured from a starry night on a sailboat in the Aegean sea.

Perfectly rounding off the package of Rayne’s debut are two reinterpretations from GOOEY label head Siggatunez, transforming the hypnagogic originals into club-ready floor fillers, melding Rayne’s sonic curiosity with Siggatunez signature raw attitude and masterful dancefloor chops.

On the inspiration behind the EP, Rayne elaborates: “This is a celebration of nature and supernatural feelings, of continents and landscapes that serve as bridges. This is a celebration of those who need to leave places to come to their senses.” Diyar oozes mystical energy, it’s supernatural sonic landscape providing a temporary escape from the contemporary hellscape and a path through the darkness to the other side.

Gerard Valdivia is a spanish drummer and producer based in Berlin.
His taste in vintage sounds and intricate beats grew up through years of experience with various artists and bands from many different styles. Kraut, psychedelic and progressive rock are the genres he grew up with, his solo carrier started in 2020 when during the lockdown jumped to the world of synthesis and electronic sounds.
