We recently reached an agreement with Nexion to keep on working together on their sophomore studio album. The Icelandic band will release the follow up to "Seven Oracles" via Avantgarde Music later this year.

In the meantime, you can have a taste of what the album sounds like thank to the first single, "Gandr", the videoclip of which is available on YouTube (link in the first comment).

Grey Aura signs to Avantgarde Music and announces a new studio album! A new single is available in the first comment.

Dutch avantgarde metal outfit Grey Aura is back with their third full-length studio album! Four years after the acclaimed Zwart vierkant, the Utrecht-based quartet is ready to release Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk, a new, unpredictable journey through art and music. The first single “Opgehangen afgrond” is a first taste of what Grey Aura have been working on in the last few years.

Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk (Black Square: Finale, Final Piece) continues Grey Aura’s journey into the intersection of abstract art and psychological disintegration. Building on themes from their 2021 album, Zwart vierkant, the new work delves into the second half of Ruben Wijlacker’s novel, De protodood in zwarte haren. This story follows Pedro, a 20th-century Modernist painter whose attempt to dismantle physical reality through abstraction leads him to the brink of madness.

Drawn to the avant-garde movement of Suprematism, Pedro becomes captivated by Kazimir Malevich’s ‘Black Square’: an emblem of pure abstract feeling and the rejection of natural representation. To him, the painting’s void is not merely an end but a gateway to boundless artistic potential and spiritual enlightenment.

Within this black square, Pedro envisions his muse, Chauchat—a Wallonian poet and the wife of another collective member. Their elusive romance reflects the essence of abstraction: an existence more imagined than tangible, always slipping beyond his reach.

As his obsession grows, Pedro convinces a group of Utrecht artists to join him in creating a Gesamtkunstwerk—a three-dimensional embodiment of the black square. His unrelenting drive pushes the collective toward bizarre tasks and even criminal acts, all in service of his radical vision.

The story reaches its climax when Pedro unveils his ultimate creation: an empty void, a chilling representation of the death of the physical realm and the culmination of his artistic ideology.

Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk will be out via Avantgarde Music on March 28th on CD, LP and digital. Preorders will be available in February.

Light Dweller is an American blackened death metal project founded in December 2017 by Cameron Boesch in Phoenix, AZ. After seven years and four full-length albums, Light Dweller will partner with Avantgarde Music’s death metal division, Unorthodox Emanations, to release its fifth album, The Subjugate, on February 28th, 2025.

Inspired by a broad spectrum of dissonant and melodic influences — Cosmic Putrefaction, Defacement, Mesarthim, Convulsing, Violet Cold, Mare Cognitum, and more — Light Dweller has forged a unique path through the darker, more obscure realms of metal, with The Subjugate being the very latest milestone of said path.

Unorthodox Emanations will release The Subjugate on CD, LP and digital, and first single “Cessation Of Time” can be streamed already via YouTube. Cover by Adam Burke, layout by STRX. Preorders will open in late January.

Sivyj Yar is a one-man post-black metal band formed almost twenty years ago in the outskirts of St. Petersburg. Since 2014, multi-instrumentalist and composer Vladimir Vishniakov has been working closely with Avantgarde Music to release his music endeavors, and A Scarlet Sunset Over The Horrid Abyss marks a new milestone in the artist’s path.

A Scarlet Sunset Over The Horrid Abyss features poetry by Andrei Bely, symbolist Russian poet from the early XX century, as well as archival photographs taken in the Kolyma camps — one of the most terrible places in the new history of Russia, a remote, eastern area of the Russian country where dozens of gulags held Soviet POWs and political prisoners in extreme conditions until the ‘70s.

A first single, “Everything Under The Snow Will Hush, Then Die”, is available for streaming on YouTube and Bandcamp.

Sivyj Yar’s post-black metal is intended for all those willing to go one step forward, not stopping at the music itself, but open to learning history. A Scarlet Sunset Over The Horrid Abyss will be available on CD and LP on February 28th, 2025. Preorders will be live soon.
