The Jaintia Students' Union (JSU) Central Body met on Thursday met the Cabinet Minister, Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh to seek her intervention on the sudden closure of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) Examination Centre at Jowai.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration ceremony, Sangma said many challengers arise but one has to see into overall structuring and reformation of the education sector as a whole. He added that with the setting up of this commission it can do justice to the education sector in the state.
With the coming up of the State Education Commission, Sangma said better days are coming and see changes in the education sector.
Meghalaya government recently notified the members of the State Education Commission with Prof. SM Sungoh, Department of Education, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) as its Chairperson.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Prof P Shukla on Wednesday said that the university is already three years late in implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and if any further delay students future will suffer.

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council on Tuesday met the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Prof P S Shukla to raised many questions regarding the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to all the affiliated colleges of NEHU.
Speaking to reporters, Robertjune Kharjahrin the President of HYC has put up question as to whether all the affiliated colleges in the state are up for the “herculean” task in implementing the new NEP 2020. He also questioned whether the University is capable in providing academic support to the colleges.
“What will happen to colleges who lack financial resources, manpowers , colleges who doesn’t have books and study materials required for both students and teachers”, said Robertjune.

A day after Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has written to centre, the Union Ministry of Education on Thursday has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to reschedule the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) entrance test for Meghalaya students allotted centres outside the state.
This was informed by Meghalaya Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, on Thursday.

Minister incharge of Fisheries Department, Alexander Laloo Hek on Wednesday informed that the department have constituted a Fact Finding Committee to examine on the alleged contamination of formalin ỉn imported fishes coming into the state.
This came after the Minister had called upon the Fish Retailer and Wholesaler Association to discuss on the issue on Wednesday.

One minor who had gone missing earlier this month has been rescued by Meghalaya police on Tuesday. The girl was rescued from Malda town in West Bengal.
In a press statement, the Superintendent of Police (Tr), East Khasi Hills informed, “One Miss Prachi Ghosh age 17 years D/O Shri Gobinda Ghosh R/O Upper Mawprem Shillong had gone missing since 02.06.2023 from St. Margareth School, Laitumkhrah.”
