*BOOTLEGGER NABBED WITH 86 BOTTLES OF ILLICIT LIQUOR BY SAMBA POLICE*

Samba, April 21: Continuing its drive against the sale of illicit liquor in the district, Samba Police has arrested a bootlegger and recovered 86 bottles of illicit liquor of 180 ml each from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.

Acting on reliable information regarding sale of illicit liquor near Kalagate Bari Barhmana, a police party of Police Station Bari Brahmana headed by SHO PS Bari Brahmana raided the spot, seized 86 bottles of JK Special Whisky of 180 ml each and arrested the accused person identified as Ranjeet Singh S/o Yash Pal R/o Kadgal, Bari Brahmana who was indulged in selling of illicit liquor to general public at exorbitant rates.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 49/2024 U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Bari Brahmana and investigation started.

*KATHUA POLICE NABBED 01 DRUG PEDDLER WITH APPROX. 8.99 GRAMS OF HE**IN (CHITTA) LIKE NARCOTICS AT LAKHANPUR.*

KATHUA, 13 APRIL:- Acting tough against drug dealings, Kathua Police recovered/seized approx. 8.99 grams of he**in (chitta) like narcotics in the JD of PS Lakhanpur and one drug peddler arrested on spot.

On dated 12.04.2024 an information was received from the reliable sources at PS Lakhanpur that one person namely Nek Ram S/o Chaino Ram R/o Narote Jaimal Singh Tehsil & District Pathankot is indulged in illegal trade of selling narcotics like contraband substance.Acting swiftly police team of PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua & SHO PS Lakhanpur during naka/ checking in its jurisdictional area noticed one person who was roaming under suspicious circumstances who was signalled to stop for checking purpose. During checking, approx. 8.99 grams of he**in like narcotics were recovered from the possession of said person namely 1. Nek Ram S/o Chaino Ram R/o Narote Jaimal Singh Tehsil & District Pathankot.Thereafter all the recovered narcotics i.e. approx. 8.99 grams of He**in was seized and said person was arrested by the police party on spot.In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 37/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act got registered at P/S Lakhanpur and further investigation was taken up.

Kathua Police again requested people of the area to come forward and share information on 100 or 9858034100 about any such illicit activity with Police for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential.

Successful SVEEP Activities Held at Nagri

Kathua, April 12 : - As part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, several engaging activities were organized in Nagri, aimed at raising voter awareness and participation in the electoral process.

One of the highlights of the SVEEP activities was a lively Nukkad Natak (street play) staged in a densely populated municipal area in Tehsil Nagri Parole. The play captivated the audience with its message on the importance of voting and civic responsibility.

Additionally, a discussion and seminar were conducted for students and teachers, providing them with insights into the electoral process and encouraging their active participation in democracy.

The event concluded with a voters' pledge, wherein attendees vowed to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

The programme was organized under the supervision of ARO 67- Kathua AC Vishav Pratap Singh (ACR Kathua) whose guidance and support ensured the successful ex*****on of the activities.

These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to promote voter awareness and engagement, emphasizing the significance of each citizen's role in shaping the future of our nation through democratic participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Aana Jamwal said Tehsil administration is making all out efforts to educate voters about the important role they can play in deciding their representatives while setting aside biases besides contributing to the biggest democratic exercise of the world.

RO Udhampur PC oversees preparations in Billawar, Basohli & Bani Assembly Constituencies

Kathua, April 12:- The Returning Officer, Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency conducted a comprehensive visit to Billawar, Basohli and Bani Assembly Constituencies, overseeing preparations for the upcoming elections.

During the visit, the Returning Officer inspected polling stations and the strongroom for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place.

The Returning Officer conveyed to the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) of respective ACs that polling parties for the assembly constituencies will be dispatched accordingly so that all polling parties shall reach at their Polling Stations well in advance.

Instructions were given to the AROs to provide the polling parties with necessary materials and dispatch them to their designated polling stations.

Returning Officer also held meeting with AROs of Basohli, Billawar and Bani Assembly Constituencies which was also attended by Zonal Magistrates, Sector Officers, and Sector Police Officers.

During these meetings, the RO briefed the attendees on election details and clarified their respective responsibilities. Special emphasis was placed on the careful handling of EVMs and ensuring proper communication and wireless reporting on polling day.

Besides, the RO directed the AROs to arrange a sufficient number of ponies to address any challenges in reaching EVMs and polling parties to remote areas. Sector Officers were instructed to attend all training sessions diligently and provide voter turnout reports to the control room every two hours on polling day.

The Returning Officer also gathered details regarding the number of polling stations under each Sector Officer, the distance to these stations, and the estimated time required to reach them, ensuring efficient deployment of resources on election day.
