District-Level NCORD Meeting Held to Strengthen Anti-Drug Measures in Samba

Samba, 30.01.2024: Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sh. Jagdish Singh, today chaired the district-level committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) at the DC Office, Samba. The meeting focused on reviewing and reinforcing measures to curb drug abuse and illicit narcotics trade in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP Samba, Sh. Garu Ram, Chief Education Officer, SDM Vijaypur and Ghagwal, GM DIC, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildars, District Officers and other concerned officials.

Discussions centered on the rising cases of drug addiction, identifying high-risk areas and reviewing the action taken on directives from the previous NCORD meeting. Stressing the need for a comprehensive approach, the ADC directed all stakeholders to conduct awareness drives in schools, colleges, and communities, ensuring active involvement of parents to protect the youth from substance abuse.

The ADC further underscored the importance of sustained law enforcement efforts, urging agencies to intensify vigilance against drug trafficking. He instructed district officers to submit a monthly progress report for the compilation of a coffee table book, documenting the administration's anti-drug initiatives.

In a significant move to curb the misuse of prescription drugs, CCTV cameras have been installed in medicine shops across the district. Additionally, officers were directed to hold regular sub-divisional meetings, install awareness signboards in Nasha Mukt Panchayats and conduct random checks on medical stores to enforce computerized billing.

SAMBA POLICE RECOVERED 11 LOST MOBILE PHONES, HANDED OVER TO RIGHTFUL OWNERS

Samba, January 25: Samba Police has recovered eleven lost/missing mobile phones and handed over to their rightful owners in a simple function held at Police Station Bari Brahmana.

These smartphones have been recovered from various part of J&K UT by the earnest and continuous efforts of Police Station Bari Brahmana under the guidance of SHO Bari Brahmana. The recoveries were made under the supervision of ASP SDPO Bari Brahmana and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba.

On receiving their missing/ lost Mobile phones, the owners felt elated and expressed their gratitude towards Samba Police for their arduous effort in tracing out the missing mobile phones.

SSP Samba advised the citizens to note down the IMEI Nos. of their mobile phones as they are crucial in tracking phones in case they are lost or stolen. SSP further advised not to buy second-hand phones without verifying the IMEI number and ensuring that a proper bill is provided by the seller, as it helps protect consumers from unknowingly purchasing stolen items. It's always a good idea to double-check the IMEI by dialing * #06 # on the phone itself and cross-checking it with the details on the box or bill to ensure everything matches up, added SSP Samba.

*Udhampur Police Destroys 03 Quintal of drugs Seized in 26 Cases*

Udhampur Police has destroyed 3 Quintals 10 kg 642 grams of psychotropic substances seized in 26 different NDPS cases. The destroyed items included 310.931 kg of poppy straw, 528.59 grams of he**in, and 114 grams of charas.

The destruction was carried out through controlled incineration at M/S Anmol Healthcare, Vijaypur, Samba, following all required formalities to ensure environmental safety. The process was fully videographed and secured.

This action is in accordance with Section 52-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Pledge Ceremony, Signature Campaign, and Quiz Competition Mark National Voter’s Day at GDC Hiranagar

Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar celebrated National Voter’s Day with great enthusiasm, organizing a series of activities including a pledge-taking ceremony, a signature campaign, and a quiz competition to emphasize the importance of voting rights.

The quiz competition featured four teams: Voter’s, Election, Constitution, and Citizen. The Election team, represented by Saloni, Tamanna, and Neha from different semesters, clinched the first position with their outstanding performance.

The event was organized under the guidance of ELC Convener Prof. Amit Sharma and NSS Program Officer Prof. Shapia Shameem. It was formally inaugurated by Prof. Amit Sharma, who highlighted the significance of National Voter’s Day in strengthening democracy.

Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the college, praised the ELC and NSS units for their efforts in raising awareness about voting rights and emphasized the importance of active participation in the democratic process.

Dr. Sharma Ritu Raj Kumar from the Department of Political Science conducted the program proceedings with finesse. The quiz competition was judged by Dr. Rajni, Prof. Balvinder, and Dr. Inaam-ul-Haq, while Dr. Nasir played a key role in ensuring the success of the event.

The celebration not only fostered awareness among students but also encouraged them to exercise their voting rights responsibly, contributing to the democratic spirit of the nation.

KATHUA, 24 JAN:- J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS* apprehended 01 Notorious Bovine Smuggler/ Habitual Criminal who was involved in 04 Bovine Smuggling cases at PS Lakhanpur and booked under Public Safety Act 1978( PSA).

On dated 24/01/2025 Police team led by SHO P/S Lakhanpur Insp. Tribhawan Khajuria under the supervision DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Subash Chander apprehended one habitual criminal/Notorious Bovine Smuggler namely Bhupinder Kumar S/o Krishan Chand R/o Sundar Nagar Talab Tillo Jammu District Jammu who is habitual criminal/Bovine Smuggler involved in various bovine smuggling activities registered at PS Lakhanpur vide:- FIR No's 26/2023 U/S 188 IPC 11 PCA, FIR No. 48/2023 U/S 188/IPC 11PCA Act, FIR No. 51/2024 U/S 188/IPC 11 PCA Act & FIR No. 142/2024 U/S 223/BNS 11 PCA Act of PS Lakhanpur respectively.
In order to prevent the illegal activities within the district, "Dossier" was prepared against the accused person and sent to the District Magistrate Kathua for his detention under Public Safety Act- 1978 (PSA). Accordingly District Magistrate Kathua issued a detention warrant against the accused person under the Public Safety Act 1978. Accordingly, the warrant has been executed today and he has been lodged in Central Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu to curtail his illegal activities.

*Kathua Administration unveils Spectacular Lighting at Atal Setu, Basohli*

*Kathua, January 23:* The iconic Atal Setu at Basohli received a dazzling transformation making it even more tempting for locals and tourists.

MLA Basohli Darshan Singh, Dir ACB Shakti Pathak and Deputy Commissioner , Dr. Rakesh Minhas, formally inaugurated the newly installed lights.

This initiative of the District Administration, fulfilling a long-pending public demand, aims to enhance the bridge's visual charm and solidify its status as a key tourist attraction in the region.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA Basohli Darshan Singh appreciated the district administration’s efforts in fulfilling this demand, adding that the facade lights would elevate the aesthetic appeal of Basohli town and attract more visitors to the region.

Director ACB Shakti Pathak who is Son of the Soil said that the lighting added a new dimension to the Atal Setu’s appeal. He also lauded the initiative of the Administration for spearheading the unique "Basohli Art on House Buildings", which has transformed the town into a vibrant hub of traditional art and culture.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, highlighted the significance of the Atal Setu as a symbol of engineering excellence and regional progress. “The Atal Setu is more than a bridge; it is a landmark of connectivity, development, and architectural brilliance. The facade lighting amplifies its grandeur, particularly during the night, making it a must-visit destination. Dr. Minhas further reiterated the district administration's dedication to developing Basohli into a hub for art, culture, and adventure tourism.

Pertinently, the Atal Setu, North India’s first cable-stayed bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, spans the Ravi River, linking the union territory with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The newly installed facade lighting system uses energy-efficient LED lights, offering a dynamic range of colors and patterns while minimizing energy consumption. The eco-friendly system enhances the bridge’s magnificence without compromising sustainability.

Local residents and visitors expressed their delight at the new lighting, calling it a "spectacular addition" to the town’s charm.

The event concluded with a dazzling lighting display, leaving attendees in awe and marking a significant step in Basohli’s journey toward becoming a premier tourist destination.

In a drive against illegal mining and to tighten noose against the violators, Jammu Police has initiated strict action against the criminals involved in illegal mining & minting money out of the public resources.

In a surprise operation which was carried out in last few days at different locations in Rural zone of District Jammu.

*BPP Sandwan* detained 04 tractor trollies bearing registration number JK02CW/5747 loaded with sand,Tractor trolley bearing regd. JK02DG 4840 loaded with sand, tractor bearing chassis number 300072139A and tractor bearing chassis number 006028113B1,all loaded with mining material without having forms A.

*PS Domana* detained two tractor trollies bearing registration number JK02DD/0248,Chassis No. MBNGAANUUMJC02875 and Tractor bearing Chassis No MBNBEBBELJNH0382 both found loaded with mining material (Sand) without form A.

*PP Chinore* detained one tractor trolley registration no. JK02BL/7864 loaded with mining material without Form A.

*PP Jourian* detained two Tractor trollies bearing Reg No JKO2DE 9921 and JKO2DL 4461, both Loaded with Sand without having forms A.

*PS Akhnoor* detained one tractor bearing chassis number NHN36020ZPK672845X loaded with sand without having form A.

After detaining of these vehicles District Mining Officer was informed for necessary legal actions.

Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of JSK (Jammu-Samba-Kathua) Range presided over a comprehensive meeting regarding Gangsters and Criminals in Jammu kathua and Samba District. The meeting was attended by All SSPs Addl SP, and Zonal Superintendents of Police .
The DIG JSK Range, in his review, stressed the need for special efforts to take stern action against Gangsters, antisocial elements and also directed them to maintain the list of Gangsters so that a proper surveillance can be maintained over their activities and they shall also be booked under Public Safety Act
1. Break their Network of financial circle, seize their properties which are accumulated by them through illegal trade ,Including Extortion, Landgrabing , property Dealing.
2.Support system of these Criminals be kept under monitoring and Book them under law including their relatives/friends who support and provided shelter to them.
3.In the meeting DIG JSK Range also directed all the officers to launch a massive drive in their jurisdiction through their subordinates against the vehicles on following illegal modifications (Vehicles found with tinted glasses,vehicles found with illegal modification for any criminal look, Vehicle found using loud music and Vehicle without number plate.) He also directed to take strict legal action against anyone found possessing illegal weapons, Land Grabbers and cases of land grabbing and extortion should be taken seriously and anyone who threatens the public should be booked under law immediately.
4. Parents , Civil Society and Responsible Citizens be involved in spreading awareness against Criminals and Gangsters. to support Police in Breaking their network as these Criminals are bad for peaceful environment of Jammu Samba Kathua.

5. Save Youth , Students, From falling inthe trap of these Criminals/ Gangesters who Glorify Criminal activities. Youth should be educated through Seminars , Lectures , Public Meetings, that Criminals / Gangsters has no life, No Future, their End is always Bad

The DIG JSK Range Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS also discussed regarding security review in view of upcoming Republic Day 2025. He highlighted the need for meticulous planning and ex*****on of security measures to address any potential threats and challenges. All the officers were directed to strengthen all the nakas especially in the border areas as well as the city in the wee and night hours. They were also directed to identify the places where more nakas to be established. It was also discussed that proper liaison be maintained with all the intelligence agencies (Army/Paramilitary forces and other centre agencies) in their respective jurisdiction and share the same on real time basis.
The meeting concluded with the directions to become more Public Friendly and Ensure Strong action against Criminals/ Gangsters so that Peaceful environment in all sections of society be ensured.

KATHUA; 23 JAN:- Cracking a whip on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, J&K Police Kathua seized 02 vehicles ( 02 Dumpers) indulged in illegal mining at Hatli area.

On 23.01.2025 A Police team of PP Hatli led by IC PP Hatli PSI Subham Mahajan under the guidance of DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Manjeet Singh and SHO PS Kathua during patrolling/checking in its jurisdictional area at Hatli seized two Dumpers bearing Reg. Nos. JK19A-3305 & Jk02DN-4748 indulged in illegal mining(transportation of minerals) without any legal permission. As a part of its ongoing initiative to raise awareness about the newly introduced criminal laws, District Police Udhampur organized an informative sessions at Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar and in HSS Khoon, Majalta.

At GDC Ramnagar, session was conducted by SDPO Ramnagar, Sh. Manjeet Singh and PSI Yogeshwar, where students were actively participated. The session focused on the key features of the new criminal laws and their potential impact on the criminal justice system. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions, exploring how these laws could strengthen the legal framework and improve the effectiveness of law enforcement.

A similar programme was held at HSS Khoon, Majalta, where PSI Gaurav Slathia led a session aimed at educating students of HSS Khoon about the new laws and their significance in promoting justice. The session highlighted the importance of understanding these laws to ensure a more informed, responsible, and law-abiding society.

SAMBA POLICE ACHIEVED MAJOR SUCCESS AGAINST NARCOTICS; ARRESTED 2 DRUG SMUGGLERS, RECOVERED 255.37 GRAMS HE**IN LIKE SUBSTANCE

Samba, January 23: Samba Police has today achieved a major success in its war against narcotics with the arrest of two drug smugglers and recovery of 255.37 grams approximately he**in (chitta) like substance from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh.

Acting on information received from reliable sources, a Police party headed by SHO PS Ramgarh under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, intercepted two pedestrians near village Rakh Abtal who were coming from Rakh Abtal and moving towards Ramgarh. During checking, 255.37 grams approximately he**in like substance was recovered from their possession.

Both the drug smugglers identified as Sukesh Kumar S/o Kishor Rishidev and Kishor Rishidev S/o Dhaneshar both resident of Tamganj Toufir, district Araria (Bihar) A/P Pardi Chak Jawhar tehsil Ramgarh district Samba have been arrested and contraband item has also been seized.

A case FIR No. 03/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Ramgarh and investigation started.

The arrested duo happens to be the father and son involved in illegal trade of narcotics smuggling and were used to supply he**in (Chitta) among the youth in the area.

SSP Samba warned strict action against the people indulging in drug trafficking, bovine smuggling and other criminal activities and urged upon the citizens to cooperate with the police to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.

In first instance, a Police team led by Insp. Ajay Singh Chib SHO P/S Rajbagh under the supervision of SP Ops. Border Kathua, SDPO Border apprehended one Criminal namely Farman Ali S/o Rashid R/o Gota Rahua Tehsil Marheen District Kathua who is habitual criminal involved in various bovine smuggling activities as well as other heinous Cases registered at PS Rajbagh vide FIR No's 209/2019 U/S 341/323/147/436/RPC, FIR No. 268/2021 U/S 341/323/382/147/IPC, FIR No. 100/2022 U/S
341/323/336/147/504/ 506/IPC, FIR No. 233/2022 U/S 341/323/336/147/504/506/IPC, FIR No. 104/2023 U/S 341/323/382/147/IPC respectively. Abass S/o Abdul Satar R/o Malhar A/P Dher Tehsil Billawar District Kathua who is habitual criminal/ OGW involved in various illegal activities as well as other henious Cases registered at PS Malhar.In order to prevent his illegal activities within the district, "Dossier" was prepared against the accused person and sent to the District Magistrate Kathua for his detention under Public Safety Act- 1978 (PSA). Accordingly District Magistrate Kathua issued a detention warrant against the accused person under the Public Saftey Act 1978. Accordingly, the warrant has been executed and he has been lodged in Central Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu to curtail his illegal activities.
