Kathua, January 03: In the heartland of Kathua district, the nationwide Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra became the stage for Asha, an Anganwadi helper from Partap Nagar, to share a compelling tale during the "Meri Kahani, Meri Zubani" segment. Her heartfelt narrative encapsulates the transformative impact of the PM Poshan Project, highlighting its pivotal role in fulfilling the nutritional needs of pre-pregnancy and lactating women, while also securing the future of the girl child through the Laadli Beti Scheme.

Asha's words carried a resonance that touched the souls of those present, echoing her gratitude for the visionary policies championed by the Prime Minister, aimed at protecting and empowering women and the girl child.

Div Com Jammu reviews development scenario in Kathua District
Directs for time bound tendering of works, full saturation of vital schemes
KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 14: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of district officers to review progress of ongoing development works including Central Sponsored Schemes and other development projects here in the Conference hall of DC office Complex.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas gave a detailed account of the district development profile.
The Div Com was apprised about the Physical and Financial achievements under District Capex besides the status of the major projects going on in the district.
While reviewing the Rural Sanitation scenario, the Div Com called for putting in place a workable mechanism for CSCs for proper upkeep and maintenance of the rural assets.
With regard to the progress under PMAY-G, the Div Com asked RDD to expedite allocation of houses to the landless on priority besides ensuring saturation of the AWAS Plus scheme. He also directed the Municipal Authorities to speed up the saturation of PMAY-U cases falling in Urban areas.
On the issue of Solid Waste Management Units, segregation sheds and collection points, the Div Com impressed upon the need to complete the targeted projects within stipulated timelines.
To boost wage employment, the Div Com asked for an increasing number of person days under MGNREGA. He further directed to hold special gram sabhas to build consensus for taking up works under PRI grants in line with aspirations of the community.
While reviewing the status of JJM works, the Div Com stressed upon achieving 100% saturation, while asking the department to ramp-up the construction work of Tube Wells on priority.
Underscoring the need to synergize the efforts among the stakeholder departments, the Div Com called upon DC Kathua to convene a meeting of ACD, CEO, BDOs and XEN REW, XEN PWD (R&B) and contractors to achieve the desired objectives within stipulated time frame.
On Road connectivity, the Div Com stressed upon the XENs of PMGSY, PWD, REW to accelerate the road projects works which have been tendered ensuring time to time maintenance such as filling of potholes, clearing of dividers and bush cutting on regular basis.
Highlighting the need to remove the hindrances/ambiguities being faced by the pensioners, the Div Com laid thrust on organising sensitization cm awareness camps to educate intended beneficiaries.
Emphasizing the need for creating self employment avenues, the Div Com pressed for early saturation of individual beneficiary oriented schemes by mapping the market demand with skilled workforce.
On the issue of Power Scenario in the District, the Div Com directed SE PDD to ensure round the clock electricity besides recovering the pending Power Fair from the consumers. On appraisal of AT&C losses, the Div Com calls for reducing the same besides increasing the collection of revenue.
While taking appraisal of major projects coming up in the district, the Div Com was informed that the construction of Noora Bridge is progressing as per set timeline. The Div Com called upon executing agencies to stick to the deadlines set for the prestigious Shahpur Kandi Dam project.
Taking the appraisal of the performance in different sectors, the Div Com directed all departments to adopt a public friendly approach in the working. He also pressed for ensuring digital pe*******on across the district.
Earlier, DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas, while presenting the initiatives being taken in the district, disclosed that the administration is committed to augment the areas under cultivation across the fence in Hiranagar and consequently has set a target of bring 300 acres of land from present 250 acres under cultivation during the current crop season.

"'Swachhta Pakhwada' concludes with full gaiety with prize distribution ceremony in district Kathua"

The activity of "Swachhta Pakhwada" started on 1st September 2023 as per the instructions of Cultural and Educational Cell of Directorate of School Education, Jammu, which ended today on 15th September 2023. The District Unit of Cultural and Educational Cell , which is running under the aegis of Chief Education Officer Kathua Shri Prakash Lal Thapa and is supervised by the District Incharge (DICC) Mrs. Monika Khosla, who was also the District Nodal Officer for this campaign. All the twelve Zonal Incharges (ZICCs) with the active support of their respective ZEOs in the district successfully completed this campaign.

Various activities were given place in this campaign, which lasted for 15 days.

"Swachhta Pakhwada" started with "Cleanliness Pledge" and teachers and students in schools took a pledge to keep their courtyard, society, environment etc. clean. The second day's activity was named as "Swachhta Awareness Day" and the students were made aware about health and cleanliness. In this, the activity of water conservation in the environment was given an important place. On the third and fourth day, rallies were taken out, in which apart from the schools, the local people also participated enthusiastically.
The fifth day was dedicated to "Grow Greenery". Plantation was done at different places. Slogan writing, painting competition, poster making competition were organized in schools keeping this objective in the center. Along with this, the message of ending the use of plastic was also given through these mediums. The sixth and seventh day of the fortnight was dedicated to "Partnership in cleanliness" and activities like poetry recitation, short plays, painting competitions, essay writing etc. were organized on this occasion. In this the winners from school level to district level were also declared.
Day 8 and 9 were focused on proper hand washing. Teachers in schools told how to wash hands very effectively so that all germs are eliminated, it was explained in a practical manner . The tenth and eleventh days were kept for personal hygiene and health. Students were made aware on physical hygiene The twelfth day was given to the fortnight's exhibition. In the last few days, all the work done by the students regarding cleanliness was displayed, in which local artwork was also given a special place. The students presented many fascinating works of art from the waste materials. The thirteenth and fourteenth days were of "Swachhta Action Plan" and future plans were made for each type of cleanliness in collaboration with the Management Committee of the Schools and the School Development Management Committee. In addition, the suggestions of the committee members were also taken.

Smt Shartika Sharma , a teacher in the district, when asked, she told that not even the children participated with great enthusiasm in this program, but they used to ask daily questions about the next day's activity.

Prize distribution ceremony was held on the last day of the fortnight i.e. 15th September. The students who had performed best in various competitions and activities were honored by the principals and head teachers of the school.
Outstanding works in this category were also declared winners at the district level. In which Sumit Lalhal (HSS Bani) Zone Bani got first, Geeta Devi (Higher Secondary School, Sallan) Zone Sallan & Sumity Devi (GGHS Hiranagar) Zone Hiranagar both second and Simran Banotra (Higher Secondary School, Korepunnu) Zone Marheen got third place in painting competition.

In the Essay writing competition, Nirjala Devi (HSS Tapper) Zone Bani got first, G.Keerthi (HSS Korepunnu) Zone Marheen got second and Sonakshi Sharma (HS Sherpur) Zone Hiranagar got the third position.

In Slogan writing Competition Sunakshi (GHSS Sallan) Zone Sallan got first,Palak Devi (UPS Chack Drab Khan Lower) Zone Kathua & Anjali (HSS Gara Satura) Zone Sallan both got second and Saloni Devi (HS Sandhar) Zone Basohli got third position.

"Swachhta Pakhwada" was started with the same enthusiasm and purpose, it also ended with the same enthusiasm and many types of messages were sent to the students and society through this campaign.

The Chief Education Officer of Kathua, Hon'ble P.L. Thapa ji also described this cleanliness fortnight as a very remarkable initiative and appreciated everyone's participation on how important role cleanliness plays in human life and also congratulated the teachers. He expressed hope that the way our teachers of Kathua are working, we can see the results of it in the form of a bright future.Deputy Chief Education Officer Shri Chaman Lal Ji and District Education Planning Officer S. Karamjeet Singh ji also expressed happiness over the successful completion of this campaign & congratulated District team of Cultural & Education Cell for it.

Overall "Swachhta Pakhwada" was very successful and positive from every point of view.

ADM Kathua penalises erring traders for violations under FSS Act, 2006

Imposes fine of ₹1.97 lac for selling misbranded and substandard food items

Kathua, September 15: Court of Adjudicating Officer, Additional District Magistrate Kathua , Ranjeet Singh today imposed fine to the tune of Rs 197,000 on complaint cases/Food Business Operators (FBOs) including manufacturers, wholesale dealers and retailers for violating the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.

The fine was imposed on the erring traders, during the proceeding of cases of various blocks of district Kathua related to the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006, listed before the Adjudicating Officer.

He also warned them to abide by the legal regulations adding that non-compliance of Food Safety and Standards Act and rules thereunder by the Food Business Operators of the district will be dealt more strictly in coming time.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Concerned Enforcement Agency was directed by the Adjudicating Officer under FSS Act-2006, to take Stern action against the Violators so that Consumers Can be provided wholesome and safe food.

Kathua admin discusses District Export Action Plan to boost local economy

Kathua, July 27: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting of District Level Export Promotion Committee to discuss the Draft Export Action Plan for Kathua district prepared by Jammu and Kashmir trade promotion Organization J&K (JKTPO) here at the conference hall of DC Office complex.

At the outset, the GM DIC Kathua Prem Singh Chib briefed the meeting about the headway achieved so far in making a draft district export plan which is focusing on giving necessary handholding to promote high value potential products of Kathua district.

The consultant from JKTPO presented a PowerPoint presentation on the draft district Export action plan besides adopting a robust strategy and other support measures required to increase exports of products identified under One District One Product (ODOP), i.e. Basohli paintings and Basohli pashmina.

The Deputy Commissioner Kathua directed stakeholder departments to take prerequisite steps to support the action plan furthering the objective of making Kathua an export hub of its unique products. He said the plan must include strategies to increase production, quality of products, more FPO formation, cluster zones for export to be identified, departmental schemes be implemented and market linkages, good packaging techniques etc to increase export from the district.

The DC enjoined upon all committee members to go through the draft export action plan prepared by JKTPO and make some valuable suggestions to be included in the draft action plan before it is submitted to the Committee.

Kathua, July 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua under the leadership of Vice-Chancellorof Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of JammuDr. B.N.Tripathi and guidance of Director Extension, SKUAST Jammu Dr. S.KGupta, organized virtual inauguration of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Sammelan 2023.

The inauguration of the mega event by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi markedthe release of 14th instalment under the PM-KISAN scheme from Sikar, Rajasthan.

The live webcasting of the programme organized at KVK Kathua was presided over by ChairmanDDC Kathua Mahan Singh where Vice Chairman DDC Raghunandan Singh, Sarpanches,Panches, Ward members, Progressive farmers, Farm Women and the officers fromdepartment of Agriculture were also present.

During the programme the Prime Minister released an amount of Rs.17,500 crores for 8.5 croresof farmers from all over the country.

appreciated the efforts of the union government for taking arrays of steps for the welfare of the farming community. He emphasised upon the development ofclusters for specialised products to harvest greater profits.

through start-ups for percolation of economic benefits to the ultimate farmers.

Senior Scientist & Head KVK Kathua Dr. Vishal Mahajan, while welcoming the guestsand farmers in the programme highlighted the activities of KVK for promotion of entrepreneurship and start-ups. He also shared the glaring examples set-up bythe farmer in the agri-entrepreneurship such as piggery, mushroom and dairy.

Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Sanjeev Rai, while interacting with farmers, discussedthe initiatives of the government to support the agriculture sector. He suggested farmers to adopt diversification by adopting innovative products andenterprises. He assured full support of all the departments to upscale newagricultural technologies and products among farmers of Kathua district. Hestated that nearly 55,000 farmers of the district were benefited with PM KisanNidhi scheme.

A Kisan goshti was also organised during the programme wherein farmers raised theirqueries and interacted with scientists and officers of line departments.

During the event, Resource Persons Dr. Vishal Sharma, Dr. Ashu Sharma, Parshotam Gupta(SDAO Kathua), Pramod Verma (AEO Kathua) resolved the queries of the participating farmers whereas the proceedings of the programme were carried outby Dr. Anamika Jamwal.

NSS Unit of GDC Hiranagar organizes plantation drive at Jasmergarh Fort Hiranagar



Hiranagar 28th July, 2023: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit CHESHTA of Govt. Degree College Hiranagar organized a remarkable plantation drive under the banner of MERI MATI MERA DESH at the historic Jasmergarh Fort in Hiranagar.

Highly motivated team consisting of Naresh, Manohar, Parshotam, Arun, Sohan Lal, and Ram Kumar diligently dug 75 pits to ensure the successful planting of a variety of saplings. The event saw an overwhelming participation from enthusiastic forty NSS volunteers.

The assortment of saplings included Neem, Gulmohar, Arjan, Peepal, Guava, and Sukhchain, carefully selected to promote biodiversity and ecological balance in the region.

The Kali Mata Mandir administration played a crucial role in facilitating the plantation drive, highlighting the spirit of community collaboration and shared responsibility towards preserving nature's bounty.

The whole event was spearheaded by NSS Program Officer, Prof. Ajay, who stated that the NSS unit CHESHTA is committed to promoting ecological awareness and sustainable practices among the youth, and this event is just one step towards a greener, healthier future for our nation. BASOHLI, April 27, 2023:- Apni Party President Kandi Belt (Bani-Basohli), President, Yasar Choudhary called on Union Minister of State (MoS) for Railways and Textiles, Darshana Vikram Jardosh and highlighted various developmental issues.

As per a press release, Yasar Choudhary met the Union Minister of State during her visit as a part of a deputation. During this meeting, he demanded hospital and college in two blocks of Tehsil Lohai – Malhar and upgradation of hospital at Bani with the deployment of adequate staff.

He also demanded that sports and tourism should be encouraged among the youth.

“The Bani-Basohli belt has ample scope for tourism promotion, and it requires Govt attention as it would also generate employment for the local youth,” he informed the Union MoS.

Meanwhile, he also demanded that a new DPR should be made for the Billawar – Katli road as the road continues to remain closed for a long time. Therefore, the authorities should be directed to make a fresh DPR to avoid repeated closing of the road and an alternative can be given to the residents who suffer because of the above said issue.

He also referred to the old prestigious project i.e., Billawar-Katli-Derigala-Bani road which is still incomplete and requires to be completed within the shortest time frame. However, the work on this project has been delayed. He said that “If this project is completed, it would reduce the distance between Billawar to Bani.”

He also demanded a railway track that can pass through Bani-Basohli-Kishtwar up to Sinthan as it encourages tourism and generates employment.

He also demanded jobs for the local youths in the respective areas wherever the Northern Railway work is in progress.

THEFT CASE SOLVED; ONE 12 BORE WEAPON RECOVERED/SEIZED BY KATHUA POLICE AT BANI; 01 PERSON ARRESTED

Kathua; 24 March: District Police Kathua has successfully solved a theft case and recovered a 12 bore weapon from the possession of an accused who was arrested and the weapon was seized at Bani area.

In intervening night of 14/15-03-2023 a complaint was lodged at PS Bani through the complainant namely Nazir Ahmed S/o Ghulam R/o Chandel Morha Machwa Tehsil Bani District Kathua regarding theft of his "12 Bore Weapon" for which a case vide FIR No. 12/2023 U/S 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Bani.
Based on the complaint filed by Nazir Ahmed, the police in Bani launched an investigation into the theft case. On 23.03.2023 police team led by Insp. Jaswinder Singh SHO PS Bani under the supervision of SDPO Basohli Sh. Aakash Kohli JKPS apprehended one suspect namely Mohd. Abbas S/o Nazir Ahmed R/o Barmota Bani who was identified during the investigation and was taken into custody. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the 12 bore weapon from the complainant's home.Thereafter the police team recovered the stolen weapon from the accused's possession which was seized and legal proceedings are underway.

Kathua Police is committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens. We will not tolerate any criminal activity and will take strict action against anyone found involved in such acts.
