The Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project, connecting Sikkim to the railway network for the first time, has made substantial progress with the completion of an 855-metre-long emergency exit tunnel. This achievement is notable as a 20-metre section of the tunnel runs under National Highway-10 along the Teesta river, posing high risks due to the soft and loose soil.

Under the Chief Patronage of The Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, the Nar Bahadur Bhandari Janma Jayanti Samaroh Samiti along with the Soreng Sub-Division officers and staff will be organizing a 5-day celebration event from 1st October 2021 in honor of Late Shri Nar Bahadur Bhandari on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Soreng.

The event will witness a host of events including, Opens Men's Volleyball tournament, Marathon (Men and Women), Debate competitions, Cultural Dance competition, Painting competition, Poem recitals among others. This will also serve as a platform for people to showcase their talents with various cash prizes up for grabs.
