DRUG BUSTED AT RANGPO PS UNDER PAKYONG DISTRICT.

Acting upon a an information by a reliable source, today 15/04/2023 at around 0100 hrs one Buddha Tamang, aged 33 yrs R/O Deorali,Gangtok driver of SK01 T 1174 (Wagon-R) was intercepted at old Rangpo Checkpost while he was coming towards Gangtok Sikkim from Siliguri West Bengal side.

He was found in possession of:

1.425 Capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules.

2. 200 tablets of N-10.

3.65 bottles of prohibited cough syrup and

4 Cash amounting to Rs 43 560/.

That the above substances were concealed inside his pocket and in his Vehicle .

Accordingly the above mentioned contraband substances were seized by PI Pradeep Chhetri of Rangpo PS in presence of Gazetted officer SDPO Rangpo Sub Division ASP L B Chettri.

The case under relevant section of SADA Act 2017 has been registered against alleged accused peson vide RPS Case No 24(04)2023 and the case is under investigation..

Drugs Bursted at Rangpo .

On 05/04/2023 at around 2000hra duo namely Saran Kumar Biswakarma, aged 35 yrs and Salu Rai, aged 28 yrs both of them resident of Assam Linzay , Pakyong District were intercepted with Commercial quantity of Controlled Substance I e 6744 no of blue colour capsules in 843 strips at Rangpo Mamring road above Wai Wai factory after being chased from Attal Setu Bridge by Police Personnel of New Checkpost.

They were travelling in a private vehicle no SK01P4864 car from Siliguri, West Bengal side into Sikkim.
A case under SADA Ammendment Act 2017 has been registered and is under investigation.

“ SDF Party remains committed to revisit the historical and political events leading to the merger of 1975.”

Press Release :

The unfortunate dilution of our precious Sikkimese identity and the spirit of Article 371F, through the Supreme Court Judgement dated13th January,2023 followed by the Order passed in the Review Petition, and its subsequent affect through the undebated but passed by Parliament, the Finance Bill-2023 on 23rd March 2023, has spilled out into the open. In view of the above, it has now become imperative for the people of Sikkim to come together to vehemently oppose the lackadaisical approach and attitude of the SKM Government and in particular the Chief Minister, Law Minister and the legal luminaries acting on behalf of the State. The SDF Party has already demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation.
We the SDF Party welcome and support any form of democratic move or protest regarding any violation of the rule of law by the State and such sensitive issue concerning the overall interests, rights and identity of the Sikkim and its people. The recent appeal made by the Hamro Sikkim Party and the Joint Action Council on 6th and 8th April, 2023 respectively, who have decided to undertake such form of protest against the dilution of the Sikkimese identity and violation of Article 371F, the SDF Party appeals to all its members, well-wishers and peace loving people of Sikkim to come forward, participate and extend their support in a democratic and peaceful manner in the said events in the interest of Sikkim.
We request all right thinking Sikkimese to unite to fight this great people’s cause so that the SKM Government starts taking proactive action rather than showing excuses and diverting from the mistake which has been committed by the State Government till now as a result of the judgement of 13th January, 2023 and the reference of Clauses (iv) and (v) in Section 10 (26AAA) of the IT Act.

आदिम जनजाति लेप्चा समुदायको भाषालाई भारतीय सम्विधानको आठौं अनुसूचिमा (Eighth Schedule of the constitution of India) अन्तरभूक्त गर्नुपर्छ भन्ने माँगलाई राष्ट्रिय अभियानको रूपमा आरम्भ गरियो। आइतबार शहरको हेलिप्याड, लोअर बुर्तूक स्थित प्रीमिटिव ट्राइव गर्ल्स होस्टेलको सभागारमा आयोजित विशेष सभा सम्पन्न भयो। “One Community One Voice” नामक यस राष्ट्रिय अभियानको प्रथम सो सभामा सिक्किम समेत दार्जिलिङ, कालेबुङ, खरसाङ तथा सिलीगुड़ीबाट विशेष प्रतिनिधिहरू उपस्थित भएका थिए। यस सभा रेञ्ज्योङ मुतानची रोङ तार्जुम (आरएमआरटी), रेञ्ज्योङ मुतानची रिमोङ कुर्मोङ (आरएमआरके) अनि सिक्किम लेप्चा युथ एसोसिएशनद्वारा आयोजित भएको थियो। सो सभाले यस माँगलाई राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा उठान गर्न लेप्चा समुदाय बीच व्यापक सम्पर्क अभियान तथा सचेतना फैलाउने निर्णयलाई सर्वसम्मतिमा प्रस्ताव पारित गऱ्यो। ��राज्यका संस्कृति एवम् धरोहर विषयक मन्त्री सामडुप लेप्चाले मुख्य अतिथिको रूपमा सम्बोधन गर्दै लेप्चा भाषालाई सम्विधानको आठौँ अनुसूचितमा सामेल गराउने अभियानलाई सिक्किम राज्यबाट पूर्ण समर्थन गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरे। उनले राज्यका मुख्यमन्त्री पीएस तामाङले यस माँगलाई लिएर अति नै सकारात्मक रहेको बताउँदै भविष्यमा उनलाई भेटेर ज्ञापन पत्र चढ़ाउने बताए।
सो सभामा कालेबुङबाट आएका आल इण्डिया कमेटी फर् कन्सटिट्यूसनल रिगोगनिशन अव् लेप्चा ल्याङगुएज इन् एट सेड्यूल्ड अव द कन्सटिट्यूसन अव इण्डिया (All India Committee for Constitutional Recognition of Lepcha Language in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India) का संयोजक यूसुफ लेप्चाले भाषा मान्यताको सम्बन्धमा एकजूट हुनु पर्ने बताउँदै धर्म वा क्षेत्रको आधारमा लेप्चा समुदायका मानिसहरू विभाजन नहुनु पर्ने बताए। उनले बङ्गालको विभिन्न क्षेत्रहरूमा बसोबास गर्ने लेप्चा समुदायले यस माँगलाई 2017 मा नै केन्द्र सरकार समक्ष राखेको बताए। अब, पुन एकपल्ट यस माँगलाई केन्द्र सरकार समक्ष राख्नु पर्ने तथा सिक्किमको वर्तमान सरकारको पूरै सहयोग लिनुपर्ने आवश्यक्ता माथि जोर दिए।
यसरी नै सो सभामा आल इण्डिया कमेटी फर् कन्सटिट्यूसनल रिगोगनिशन अव् लेप्चा ल्याङगुएज इन् एट सेड्यूल्ड अव द कन्सटिट्यूसन अव इण्डिया (All India Committee for Constitutional Recognition of Lepcha Language in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India) का मुख्य संयोजनक तथा पूर्व विधायक नोर्जाङ लेप्चाने यस माँगलाई केन्द्र सरकार समक्ष पुऱ्याउन विगत 2008 तत्कालिन सरकारका मन्त्री गर्जमान गुरूङले सरकारी प्रस्ताव ल्याएको तथा प्रस्तावको समर्थन तत्कालीन विधायक सीबी कार्कीले गरेको जानकारी गराए। सो सरकारी प्रस्ताव सिक्किम विधानसभामा ध्वनिमतले पारित भएको बताए। त्यसबेला उनी पनि विधायक भएको तथा बहसमा सामेल भएर प्रस्तावको समर्थन गरेको बताए। उनले लेप्चा भाषालाई मान्यता दिलाउने माँगको आरम्भ विगत 1977 मा पनि सिक्किम विधानसभामा उठेको बताए।
सो सभामा रेञ्ज्योङ मुतानची रोङ तार्जुम (आरएमआरटी) का अध्यक्ष एवम् प्रीमिटिव ट्राइव बोर्डका अध्यक्ष छेवाङ नर्बु लेप्चाले विगत वर्ष 2022 मा मुख्यमन्त्री पीएस तामाङ समक्ष राखेको तथा त्वरित उनीबाट सकारात्मक सहयोगको आश्वासन पनि पाएको जानकारी दिए। उनले 2008 सिक्किम विधानसभामा लेप्चा भाषासँगै चोङ (लिम्बु) तथा भोटिया भाषालाई पनि आठौँ अनुसूचिमा मान्यता दिलाउने पारित सरकारी प्रस्तावमा सामेल गरेको जानकारी दिए। तर, लेप्चा भाषामा सम्बैधानिक मान्यताका लागि आवश्यक दस्तावेजीकरण पूरा गरेता पनि यस प्रक्रियामा चोङ तथा भोटिया भाषाबाट ढिलाई भएको तथा यसकारणले यो माँग अधि बढ़ाउनमा ढिलाई भएको विचार राखे।
सभामा रेञ्ज्योङ मुतानची रिमोङ कुर्मोङ (आरएमआरके) का सल्लाहकार छितेन लेप्चाले लेप्चा समुदायका स्रष्टाहरूको जीवनीमा प्रकाश पार्दै श्रद्धाञ्जलि अर्पण गरे। जहाँ उनले छोटो अडियो-वीडियो प्रस्तुतीकरण राखे। उनले भाषा मान्यताको आन्दोलनलाई अधि बढ़ाउन आफ्नो सहभागिता रहने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरे।
सो सभामा सिक्किम लेप्चा युथ एसोसिएशनका अध्यक्ष ओङदेन छिरिङ लेप्चाले आभार व्यक्त गरे। सो अवसरमा राज्यका प्रतिष्ठित लेप्चा लोक गायक मिक्मा लेप्चा समेत कालेबुङका मायाल्याङ अकाडमीका विद्यार्थीहरूले गीत-संगीत तथा सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत गरे।

Two Youth cooperators from Sikkim namely Lalit Pokhrel Sharma (President of Rohini Milk collection centre, Dugalakha and President of Labour Cooperative Society Dugalakha) and Dilkumar Rai Treasurer of Tourism Cooperative Khamdong is nominated as 14 member Governing Council of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) Youth Committee.
This Committee conducted it's Board meeting at Mussoorie on 24th of March 2023 in presence of President of NCUI Shri Dileep Sanghani ji and Governing Council of NCUI at Hotel Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie Uttarakhand wherein action plan on enhancing Cooperative movement across nation was put forth and agreed on common concensus to build a base across nation connecting Youths with mainstream of Cooperative movement across all domains. Press Release

After the successful organisation of the peace march against the rising violence in the state by Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum(SPYF), SKM has been trying to vilifying SPYF through press releases and press statements.

Here we would like to reply to their allegations.

1. RISING POLITICAL VIOLENCE IS A FACT
Ever since the speech of the chief minister of the state on the foundation day of the ruling SKM party, the state has been exponential rise in the political violence. The zero arrests of any one of those involved in the violence show under whose haste such incidences are taking place. People specially those not in the good book in the ruling have been targeted. Some were attacked in their own home. Some were attacked when they were going for the morning walk. The offices of opposition parties were vandalised and stone pelted.

2. MEMBERS OF SPYF TOO WERE ATTACKED
Not just the members of the opposition parties, even the members of SPYF were also attacked on 5th February at Melli South Sikkim on day broad light. Almost all the office bearers of the organisation have been harassed through several court cases filed in the behest of the ruling party. Moreover, to speak against violence it is not necessary that we ourselves must be a victim. Such organised attack from the party in power is a dangerous sign for the society as a whole. It is a duty of every individual to stand against such attacks.

3. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION MUST NOT BE CURTAILED
In a democratic set up, everyone has the right to express freely. Simply because the party in power does not like any kind of dissent they cannot go on attacking people who are unwilling to cowed by them.

4. FEAR PSYCHOSIS BEING USED AS A WEAPON BY THE RULING PARTY
In the villages, those who do not host the flag of the ruling party in their house are being seen as an enemy by the ruling party. Such families are being deprived of any governmental welfare schemes. Members of such families, if in government services, are being victimised through transfer to places as far as Delhi, Kolkata etc. If a family does not send at least one member of the family to party functions they are being penalised in one way or the other by the ruling party. Such atmosphere of psychological terror is being devised by the party in power.

5. SPYF AND POLITICS
First the very day of foundation of the organisation on 26th January 2017, SPYF has been clear that we are apolitical only in the sense that SPYF is not for electoral politics. Everything and anything under the sky in the society today is directly or indirectly linked with the politics. No one can be aloof from politics no matter how one tries. If someone belief he is aloof from politics, he is only a fool. Right from the price of basic commodities, to education, health, employment opportunities, road, even environment everything is associated with politics. What SPYF has been doing is also a politics. What differentiate our politics from the rest is that our politics is not driven by the desire to rule people and all our actions in the past have been in the interest of the common people of Sikkim.

6. SPYF AND POLITICAL PARTIES
SPYF has never been against any party in particular. We have joined hand with any party or organisation which shares common interest with us. In 2019, when SDF was enjoying its 25th year of power, we had done several movements in the demand of standard public health services in Government hospitals. Then the SKM supporters including its leaders were in our support. In fact almost all the opposition then had joined our movement. This is not the first time that the political parties support were in support of SPYF.

7. CONCLUSION
The ruling party instead of mudslinging SPYF must work on fulfilling its election promises like restoring democracy in the state among many other promises. The state of democracy in the state is poorer than that in SDF regime. The people are living under constant fear. The chief minister of the state is heard threatening people in his every alternative public address. Anyone voicing dissent is seen as an enemy. If the ruling SKM claims itself to be free from the cases of ensuing violence in the state then each and everyone involve in stone pelting, physically attacking and vandalising properties must be arrested and action must be taken against them as per the law.
