Caitlin Johnston on X:

It clears up a lot of confusion when you understand that the US empire is not a national government which happens to run nonstop military operations, it’s a nonstop military operation that happens to run a national government.

The wars are not designed to serve the interests of the United States, the United States is designed to serve the interests of the wars. The US as a country is just a source of funding, personnel, resources and diplomatic cover for a nonstop campaign to dominate the planet with mass military violence and the threat thereof.

This campaign is not waged to benefit the American people or their security, but to benefit the loose international alliance of plutocrats and unelected empire managers whose wealth and power are premised on the world order of continuous violence, exploitation and extraction which the campaign of global domination upholds. This campaign of global domination and its manifestations as a whole may be referred to as the US empire, which has very little in common with the US as an individual nation.

Until you understand this, nothing the US government or the US war machine does will make sense. You won’t understand why military operations are being waged which don’t seem to benefit the American people in any way, and which if anything actually harm the national security interests of the United States. You won’t understand why US foreign policy remains the same no matter who’s in office, regardless of party or platform. You won’t understand why the US and its allies do crazy things that otherwise make no sense for governments to do, like backing an increasingly unpopular genocide in Gaza, starting a cold war with China, or tempting nuclear armageddon with Russia.

And the answer is that these aggressions are not happening because they benefit the US as a nation, or even because they serve the political agendas of any elected officials. The nonstop violence is a means to a completely different end, and is almost an end in and of itself — benefiting war profiteers, shoring up geostrategic control, and expanding the sphere of the US empire’s particular brand of global capitalism.

There’s the nonstop worldwide military operation, and then there’s the theatrical set pieces of an official government slapped together in the foreground which we’re all meant to pretend has something to do with all the wars and militarism we are seeing. In reality the war machine just does what it’s going to do while the official elected suits in Washington put on these performances where they argue about abortion and Donald Trump to make it look like the US has a real government that’s making real decisions.

It was decided long ago that war is too important to be left to the will of the electorate, so now there’s this fake dummy political system that the American people are given to play with so they won’t meddle with the gears of the imperial machine. The local inhabitants of the hub of the globe-spanning empire are kept too propagandized, entertained, distracted, busy, poor, and sick to have a truth-based relationship with what’s being done in their name around the world, and if they do make some space in their life to become politically engaged they are herded into a kayfabe two-party system where both factions support war, militarism, imperialism, plutocracy and ecocidal capitalism but put immense amounts of energy into empty culture warring over issues that nobody with any real power cares about.

Trying to talk about this to people who are still plugged into the mainstream imperial worldview is like if Amazon had a children’s cartoon show called Andy Amazon & Friends, and the public believed the cartoon show was Amazon — they didn’t know anything about the sprawling trillionaire megacorporation that’s devouring the global economy. You’d try to talk about the gargantuan e-commerce company and they’d think you were talking about the cartoon, and object that what you’re saying doesn’t line up with what they know about the show and its characters.

Once you see the corporation behind the cartoon, once you see the empire behind the performative puppet show of official politics, you see it everywhere. You see it in the movements of the imperial war machine. You see it in the news headlines. You see it in the phony justifications and narratives that are being spouted by the western political-media class. You see it in our education system. You see it throughout our vapid mainstream western culture of interminable diversion and capitalist indoctrination.

And you stop caring about the puppet show. You stop caring about presidential elections, about Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump, about the culture war wedge issue of the day and the latest hot topic that everyone’s saying you need to take a position on. It becomes as interesting to you as some Youtube video your kid has on in the background when you’re busy dealing with a home emergency.

And the behavior of the empire absolutely is an emergency. The escalations against Russia and China that these freaks are pushing have the world on a trajectory that’s going to get us all killed, and the horrors they are inflicting in Gaza and elsewhere are creating a nightmare on earth right here and now. The empire is only getting crazier and more violent as its planetary domination becomes more challenged, and until people can see it for what it really is, it’s going to be very hard to build up the necessary public opposition against it to use the power of our numbers to force them to stop.

The Memory Hole

“America's Ministry of Truth systematically re-created all potentially embarrassing historical documents, in effect, re-writing all of history to match the often-changing state propaganda. These changes were complete and undetectable.”

Chart on people’s perception of who contributed to the defeat of Germany in 1945.

The Empire of Lies has mad skills. The Americans regime changed Taiwan, first with Lee Teng Wei with his Japanese roots, who secured the presidency for Chen Shui Bian. This US tool went on to change all the textbooks in the schools.

And no, you won’t hear about this from the likes of CNN, BBC, NYT, Bloomberg, WSJ, FT et al. They are ALL a part of the Ministry of Truth.

The Vile American Empire is aiming to start a war on 1.4 billion Chinese people for daring to climb out of extreme poverty and daring to compete with Americans.

The U.S. Empire took up the baton from the white supremacist British Empire without skipping a beat. It has continuously destroy nations of coloured people and put in puppet leaders to subjugate them. It thinks it can bring back the good old days of the Anglo-American Empire where the sun never set on white supremacy.

Eivor on X:

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday said that the Middle East is a land bestowed with broad prospects for development, but the war is still raging on it. Since last October, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has escalated drastically, throwing the people into tremendous sufferings. War should not continue indefinitely. Justice should not be absent forever.

Xi made the remarks as he delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

He noted that the commitment to the two-State solution should not be wavered at will. China firmly supports the establishment of an independent State of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital. It supports Palestine's full membership in the U.N., and supports a more broad-based, authoritative and effective international peace conference.

On top of the previous RMB100 million yuan of emergency humanitarian assistance, China will provide an additional RMB500 million yuan of assistance to help ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support post-conflict reconstruction. We will donate U.S.$3 million to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in support of its emergency humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also said China is ready to work with the Arab side to put in place "five cooperation frameworks" to step up the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future.

🔵 The first is a more dynamic framework for innovation.

𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑎 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐴𝑟𝑎𝑏 𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒 𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑗𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑠 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ, 𝐴𝐼, 𝑔𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑙𝑜𝑤-𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑜𝑛 𝑑𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑚𝑜𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦.

🔵 The second is an expanded framework for investment and finance cooperation.

China is ready to establish with the Arab side an industry and investment cooperation forum, continue to expand the China-Arab states interbank association, and implement at a faster pace the cooperation projects that are financed by the special loans in support of industrialization in the Middle East as well as by the credit line for China-Arab financial cooperation.

𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑎 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑐𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑤𝑜 𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑠, 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝐴𝑟𝑎𝑏 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑎 𝑏𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑎, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝐴𝑟𝑎𝑏 𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑗𝑜𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑠-𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑃𝑎𝑦𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚. 🔵 The third is a more multifaceted framework for energy cooperation.

China will further enhance strategic cooperation with the Arab side on oil and gas, and integrate supply security with market security.

China is ready to work with the Arab side on new energy technology R&D and equipment production. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑎 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑤𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐴𝑟𝑎𝑏 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝑐𝑎𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 3 𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑠.

🔵 The fourth is a more balanced framework for mutually beneficial economic and trade ties.

China will continue to implement vigorously the development cooperation projects with a total worth of RMB3 billion yuan.

These Muslim dominant nations have all visited Xinjiang and know that the Americans lie.

Arnaud Bertrand on X:

Very noteworthy speech by Xi Jinping at the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum that's currently being held in Beijing.
eu.china-mission.gov.cn/eng/mhs/202405…

Already the audience is extremely senior and includes the King of Bahrain, the president of Egypt, the president of Tunisia, the president of the United Arab Emirates ("MBZ") and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, on top of foreign ministers or representatives of all Arab states.

Most noteworthy from the speech is Xi's call for a "five cooperation frameworks" between China and the Arab world in order "to step up the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future".

The "five cooperations" are:

1) Dynamic framework for innovation
China will build with Arab states "ten joint laboratories in such areas as life and health, AI, green and low-carbon development, modern agriculture, and space and information technology" as well as "step up cooperation in manned space mission and passenger aircraft".

2) Expanded framework for investment and finance cooperation
China supports "closer cooperation between financial institutions from the two sides, welcomes Arab states to issue panda bonds in China, and welcomes Arab banks to join the Cross-border Interbank Payment System. China is also ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation on central bank digital currency with the Arab side."

I somehow don't think any of this will involve US dollars 😅

3) Multifaceted framework for energy cooperation
This includes "enhancing strategic cooperation with the Arab side on oil and gas, and integrating supply security with market security", "new energy technology R&D and equipment production" and China "participating in renewable energy projects in Arab states with total installed capacity of over 3 million kilowatts".

4) More balanced framework for mutually beneficial economic and trade ties
This includes "accelerate the negotiations on bilateral and regional free trade agreements" and "expanding import [in China] of non-energy products from the Arab side, especially agricultural products"

5) Broader framework for people-to-people exchanges
This involves building and further developing many Chinese-Arab cultural and research institutions such as: the China-Arab Center of Global Civilization Initiative, the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development, the think tank alliance, the youth development forum, the university alliance, and the research center on cultural and tourism cooperation.

China also commits to "invite 200 leaders of Arab political parties to visit China every year" as well as "work with the Arab side to achieve the goal of 10 million two-way visits of tourists in the next five years".

All in all we seem to be seeing a growing coalition between China and the Muslim world at large, maybe a bit reminiscent of Huntington's "Sino-Islamic connection" (even though I'm not a fan of the "Clash of civilization" thesis) in that both sides embrace modernity (as is obvious from point 1 of the "five cooperation") but reject Western political and cultural domination, especially in the context of yet another large-scale massacre of Muslims backed by the West in Gaza.

Here's a first-hand account of one young official's adventures:

Why the Communist Party Sent Me to the Desert
by Heng Xiao

My adventure began with a phone call late one summer night. It was my boss, the deputy director of the state-funded Institute of International Studies. He had some unexpected news.
The personnel department of our Academy had selected me as a candidate for its Grassroots Service Program (GSP) in one of China’s most underdeveloped provinces, located some 1,500 miles from where I was living in Beijing.
Before hanging up, he gravely informed me that all of my peers had refused to join the program–leaving me with little choice but to accept the offer.
What followed was an incredibly difficult decision for me. As a sophomore researcher, I had spent the past year doing staff work instead of academic research, and I feared I might have fallen behind my colleagues.
After consulting my wife, we agreed that my boss’s call was to inform me of my participation in the program, not to ask my opinion on the matter. I reluctantly called back and accepted his offer. In hindsight, most of us–the 17 researchers who accepted GSP posts–wished we had never received that call.
The GSP’s Chinese name is guazhi. Guazhi means “to hang your position,” in the way one hangs a coat, and it is a common phrase among China’s state-sponsored entities, including research institutes like the one I was part of. It involves temporarily moving to a new position for at least a year, while your old job is guaranteed upon your return.
At the time, it was common practice for young China Communist Party (CCP) members to take on this responsibility at some point. This temporary job sometimes has no relation at all to the cadre’s previous field of work. For example, it would not be unusual for a researcher on US foreign policy to be asked to manage rural development in the Gobi Desert.
The guazhi program is based on the traditional Chinese belief that different experiences lead to real knowledge and make a man competent.
In its most radical form during the Cultural Revolution, this traditional belief was manifested as the “Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside” movement.
During the Cultural Revolution, universities and colleges in China were closed and urban youth were sent to poor, remote rural areas to, in the words of Mao Zedong, “learn from ordinary people”.
Although far removed from the modern-day GSP, the intention is similar: namely, a notion that the most thorough education comes from diversified experiences…
Local officials were waiting for us at the airport when we landed at our destination on December 1. After a short rest and a dinner full of animated speeches, we–the 17 exhausted researchers–were dispatched to our new homes by town officials. Upon getting in the car, I was told that I would be working almost 13 miles from the urban area.
During our drive along the rugged country road, I had a good talk with one of my future colleagues, the town’s Party committee’s vice-secretary. At one point, he asked me a strange question, “Secretary, where will you live in the city? Will the municipal government rent you an apartment?”
It seemed that my future colleagues did not even know I was required to live where I worked. I began to realize that there would be no bedroom, no bathroom, and no nice furniture waiting for me.
It was immediately apparent upon arriving at the town hall that I had been right in my premonitions, which did not make me happy at all. There was no breakfast or dinner provided, and I wasn’t allowed to cook in the office. There was no hot water and no heating at night, despite temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius.
I later reflected that the outdoor toilet I had noticed upon entering was the least of my worries compared with the other problems. On the plus side, my office was bright”. Sixth Tone.

The lonely little village is his stepping stone to a successful career. As Heng Xiao rises–from section chief, deputy division chief, division chief, deputy director and director of general office, vice-minister, minister, deputy-state leader to state leader–his demonstration of the Confucian virtues of compassion, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and fidelity.
Making poor people rich is service, and service is compassion in action.
His work in the village demonstrates the level of his compassion, ren, the fundamental principle of Confucian governance..
Here's young Xi (L), studying his dad (R) doing exactly that:

Nik Stankovic on X regarding the major military exercises around Taiwan:

This of course will be interpreted as "China being aggressive" in the Western media. Most will barely mention the reason for it, like they never mention that the reason for the daily/weekly flights is Nancy Pelosi's incredible visit to the island. They also won't mention US Marines stationed 5 miles from Xiamen or 5 billion recently allocated for weapons for Taiwan.

The Western media will simply make it sound as if Xi Jinping woke up on a Thursday and though "it's raining outside, I am cranky, let's be aggressive towards Taiwan today to cheer me up." And the Western sheeple will gobble it up like 5 year olds.

Arnaud Bertrand on X:

This is absolutely incredible. If you're still under the illusion that the US has any hope of stopping China's progress in semiconductors, you have to watch this.

This is Philipp Wong, Chief Scientist at TSMC and legendary Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. He's undoubtedly one of the, if not THE world's leading scientific figure in the field of semiconductors.

Here's what he says:

"Years ago we had technical conferences and we see papers from China. Ah forget it! Just... Quality is so bad it's not even competitive. That was probably in the 80s and the 90s. Now they're better than us. They're better than us!

If you look at papers, publications, data from key conferences in the chips business. [...] You basically flipped. Years ago the US had the majority of the papers. I remember there were roughly about 40 to 50% of the papers from the US. And China, maybe 20-30 years ago, they were nowhere to be found. Today, China and Asia, the papers, are more than 40%, almost close to 50%. And the US has steadily declined from 40-50% to 30 to 40%. And the rest of the world, principally Europe and Japan has basically fallen off a cliff.

So the research and development, the research capability in Asian countries, China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and so on have really become the strongest region. In terms of producing good quality research. I'm not just talking about quantity, it's quality.

The only thing that I see... What the US is still little bit ahead is in coming up with the new ideas. What the Chinese always say: going from zero to 1. Namely starting from nowhere, nothing, and come up with this really new idea. And if I look at what I would call new idea that has not been discussed before, the US still is the principal place where these new ideas come from. But once these new ideas become known, then... I feel it in my everyday research with my students. Any new ideas that we come up, once they become known... that this is a good idea. The next week it will show up in China. It will show up in China, only that they do it better than you.

I can't, cannot compete anymore. They have better resources, they have more students. They have more, more funding from the government. I cannot compete anymore. I have to get out of that field!"
