CC33 is proud to host their 3rd Annual Charity Event on 14th November 2024 at OEC Sheffield, supporting their mission to ensure no local child wakes up without a gift this Christmas.

The evening will feature Sir Geoff Hurst as guest speaker, a 3-course meal, charity auction, raffle, and a DJ to end the night.

All proceeds will go to Cash for Kids South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire. Any support through donations or fundraising is greatly appreciated.

What a day at the Rotherham Show supported by the most amazing causes,

Last month, Luke Ambler, motivational speaker and founder of ‘Andy Man’s Club’, visited Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) to host a series of impactful events for over 160 hospital colleagues ✨

Luke, whose journey from professional rugby player to mental health advocate has inspired many, delivered heartfelt storytelling and practical advice on topics like breaking down mental health stigmas, building resilience, and personal empowerment. His relatable and straight-talking style resonated deeply with attendees.

The visit included a special session for the Trust’s Estates and Facilities team, addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by men in this male-dominated field. Luke’s visit was part of DBTH’s extensive health and wellbeing offer, which supports over 7,000 colleagues across the organisation. This initiative underscores the Trust’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment, ensuring that colleagues are well-equipped to deliver exceptional care to patients.

DBTH’s dedication to staff wellbeing is further reflected in their recent staff survey, where they achieved higher scores on 71% of questions, surpassing the national average, with 94% of results showing improvement from the previous year. Luke Ambler’s visit highlighted the ongoing efforts to prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of the hospital community, recognising that a healthy and resilient workforce is key to providing outstanding patient care.

Saxophone quartet bring joy to patients at Montagu Hospital with special live performance 🎷

Last month, patients within the Fred and Ann Green Rehabilitation Centre at Montagu Hospital were treated to a special live performance by a saxophone quartet, who travelled from Germany for the occasion.

The performance took place on the balcony of Rehab 2, where patients, colleagues, and relatives gathered to enjoy the uplifting event.

The quartet was led by Graham Ellis, brother of John Ellis, who is currently receiving care at Montagu Hospital.

John is a distinguished musician from Doncaster, leading his own orchestra and holding an MBE for his significant contributions to music. He has also had the honour of playing for Queen Elizabeth on two occasions.

The memorable afternoon was arranged by John and his family, with invaluable assistance from the Centre's Activities Coordinator, Michelle Chadwick.

Speaking after the event, John said that the event was his way of giving back, aiming to provide a pleasant and encouraging experience for all inpatients on their road to recovery.

Emily Woodward, Ward Manager, said: “What an absolute treat it was for our patients and colleagues to enjoy such a wonderful performance. Combined with the clement weather, the performance provided for a truly unforgettable afternoon. We are so grateful to the performers for their generosity and to John and everyone else who made it possible.”

The event was further enhanced by an afternoon tea, prepared and served by Michelle Chadwick.

Simon Brown, Deputy Chief Nurse, also expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are deeply thankful to the saxophone quartet for making the journey to perform for us.

“I also want to extend my sincere thanks to our colleagues for accommodating this event so seamlessly. It's these moments that truly define what we mean by patient-centred care and providing the best possible environment to aid with the healing and recovery process.” ✨

Doncaster Music Hub – Big Sings 2024 🎤 🎶
The much-anticipated Big Sing events are back this year, and they are bigger and better than ever

The events are part of a yearlong programme of musical activity funded by Arts Council England. Give us this day our daily bread 🍞
A new bakery has opened near Chesterfield offering the very best of British bread. We meet the team behind the expanding patisserie and bread business

Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up to the smell of freshly-baked bread every morning? For the majority of us, this is nothing more than a pipe dream but for Tom Martin, this is very much a reality. Along with Matt Rhodes and Stuart Griffin, baker Tom has helped to launch 4eyesbakery, partner company to 4eyespatisserie

They produce over 50 products, including everything from sourdoughs, focaccias and ciabattas to Danishes, croissants and cakes and are even credited with bringing the ‘cronut' to Sheffield. That's a cross between a croissant and a doughnut in case you were wondering.

One of the first businesses they supplied was Steam Yard in Sheffield city centre, which became synonymous with the cronut amongst other sweet treats. Other businesses that 4Eyes now supply include Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the University of Sheffield as well as a number of hotels.

They deliver as far as Harrogate in the north, Scunthorpe to the east, Newark to the south and Buxton to the west.

Celebrating the special moments this Foster Care Fortnight

It is Foster Care Fortnight (13th to 26th May), a campaign by Fostering Network, which aims to raise the profile of fostering and show how fostering transforms lives.

This year’s theme is , so we’ll be celebrating the moments that define fostering journeys, big and small, for foster carers and their families.

The foster carers have shared the joys of seeing children come out of their shells, grow in confidence, and enjoy everyday childhood experiences we might take for granted like having a Sunday roast dinner, celebrating their birthday, or going to the seaside. By being there for the children, and giving them a safe, stable and caring home, the carers create the moments that matter, those experiences that transform lives and enable them to flourish.

Could you help a Doncaster child? Many people often rule themselves out of fostering, thinking they don’t have the right skills, can’t afford to foster, or can’t work and foster too. The reality is there are many ways you can foster, and you can foster alongside working. You could foster at weekends or look after a child for a longer period. When you foster with the council, their experienced team supports you every step of the way with full training, 24/7 support and a generous allowance. When you foster with the council you will be joining Doncaster’s largest fostering community of experienced foster carers who are on hand to support you and develop your fostering skills.

New antiques valuation event to launch in Bawtry, Doncaster ✨

If you've ever wondered if your antiques, jewellery or collectibles could deliver a windfall you can find out for free in Doncaster.

New monthly antique valuation and consignment events will launch at Bawtry Hall on Tuesday, April 2. Anyone curious to know the value of their treasures can drop by between 11am-1pm - no appointment needed.

On hand to guide them will be one of the UK’s best known faces from the world of antiques, Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers Derbyshire. His expertise will be bolstered by support from fellow antiques valuer Katy Beardmore.

Charles said: “Katy and I can’t wait to come to Bawtry to uncover wonderful finds and historical gems. Between us we have decades of knowledge and we love to share it.

“Many people have items at home which are both important and valuable. It’s wonderful to tell someone they own something special, and if they decide to consign with us they’ll have the excitement of an auction to look forward to.

“So take a look in the attic, check under the bed and delve into your wardrobe for forgotten treasures. I can assess all types of general antiques including pottery, coins, artwork, silver, jewellery and Chinese ceramics. Katy’s speciality is 20th century ceramics, glass and Art Deco. Auction sales are buoyant with people all over the world keen to buy.”

Hansons offers a broad range of general and specialist sales covering everything from fine jewellery, watches, silver and coins to paintings, toys, militaria, music, sport and royal memorabilia. Finds which recently excelled at auction included a 19th century Staffordshire pearlware Toby jug which made £500 and a circa 1790 Staffordshire pearlware harvest-inspired ale jug, £170.

Spring sales also saw a Ming style 19th/20th century Chinese huanghuali altar table, achieve £5,400, a gold charm bracelet hammer at £900 and an 18ct gold half hunter pocket watch tick up to £750.
